I had a hard time getting into this, but I'm not sure if it was the story or the fact that it was an audiobook. I find I get distracted easily if I'm listening to a book.
But once I got into it I really liked the uniqueness of it. Lots of trigger warnings, but if you stick with it, it gets more and more interesting.
This was my first book by NJ Moss. Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advance eAudio.

This was just an ok listen for me . I struggled slightly with the narrator but apart from that it was a fairly ok reas.

I really don't know how I felt about this book. Excuse my french but - this book was fucking wild. I have no words.

Thank you Net Galley for an audio copy of My Dead Husband by N.J. Moss. What the heck did I just listen to? I feel traumatized.

This book was fast paced and suspenseful. A lot happens in the story and it might have benefited with some trigger warnings. Overall, it was just ok.

This was an interesting story. I loved to see all of the story come alive. I am looking forward to reading more stories by this author. She has a wonderful writing style.

I felt like this book would maybe be better classified as a drama rather than a thriller. There was a thriller component but it wasn’t as strong as most thrillers. Also this book was more Jerry Springer/Fifty Shades of Grey than most thrillers get. Overall this was not the book for me. That is not to say that others won’t enjoy it, it was just not to my taste. I prefer the thrillers that have more of a twist and less of a twisted family drama to them. Also this book had a ton of elements that could be very triggering for many individuals. About the only major trigger that I don’t remember noticing was animal abuse. The following trigger warnings do apply (these may be spoilers so be warned before reading on): rape including of a minor with graphic descriptions, incest, child abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, abortion and adoption issues, mental manipulation including with drugs, stalking, and similar topics. As you can probably tell this book was rather dark and disturbing. I am generally not overly sensitive (I listen to several true crime podcast) but this book was a bit much for me. Some parts of it made me feel almost physically ill. As far as the audiobook, I think that really added to the book as the accents helped to make it distinct who was speaking since the narrator kept the Scottish accents for the characters who were from Scotland. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My reaction when I finished this book was just straight what the hell did I just read. This story follows Ellie after her abusive husbands death. Ellie suffered mental issues which made it hard to tell if what she was seeing was real or just delusions. We also follow Lottie ,Ellie’s mom, and what she did and the secrets she kept from her daughter. I don’t want to say much more in fear of giving away one of the many many twists that take place in this book.
All I can say is this book definitely goes there if you have any triggers I would avoid this book. I can honestly say this book kept me engaged I was definitely questioning the entire book what else could happen to this poor woman. That being said there were some things in this book that I was not to comfortable with and I can honestly say I think this is a first book in a long time I have ran into this. I did listen to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration. The narrator was engaging and easy to understand. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for an opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

My Dead Husband was my first from NJ Moss and I have to say it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. However, I did find the subject matter to be pretty disturbing and really made me feel anxious while reading this. I will say the writing is very gripping but the overall twists in this may make a lot of readers uncomfortable. I found it to be very predictable as well, despite the fact that the twist was so taboo and it seemed like that couldn't possibly be what happens. I somehow could sense thats where the story was leading and it made my stomach queasy. Overall, I think this is very well written but wish it had taken a less disturbing turn.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this advance listener copy in exchange for my honest review.
I don't even know where to start with this one. I had a love/hate relationship with this story. It was decent enough to hold my interest. I flew through it because it had me wanting to know what was going to happen and a LOT happened in this book. Too much happened in this book. It had my head spinning. Twist after twist after twist was just too much. And the twists were almost too shocking, like they were just there to add shock value to a really weird story.
My main problem with this book is that the shock value was the only substance in the story. The vile things that people did just didn't make sense to me. I give this book 3 stars because it did hold my interest, but it could have had more substance to the story.
I did not like the audio. Her voices for the men were not good.

Dark, twisted, and unsettling! I will start by saying that I found many of the plot elements highly disturbing and it usually takes a lot to push my boundaries. It just seemed like the book tried too hard to achieve shock value, which took away from the authenticity of the story. There was nothing believable. The plot was way over the top. TRIGGER WARNING - some readers may find the plot elements triggering.
There were some shocking twists. And I mean shocking….and did I say disturbing. Yet, despite all of the graphic material, eye rolling and having to suspend disbelief, I found the book to be oddly engaging. I kept wondering what could possibly come next. It was highly unpredictable.
The audiobook was engaging. The narrator kept it entertaining although it was at times confusing because her voice was the same for both the mother and daughter perspectives. Having two different narrators would’ve been better.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

MY DEAD HUSBAND is a twisted dark and disturbing psychological thriller by NJ Moss, the author of Her Final Victim. This novel is not for the faint-hearted as it highlights some very dark issues including schizophrenia, sexual and psychological abuse and some strong language. This is a fast-paced and suspenseful thriller, with a twisted highpoint that will grip you until you reach the shocking ending, and one that I didn’t see coming.
Many thanks to the author, Net Galley and Bloodhound Books for my digital copy.

This was a disturbing and shocking story. Ellie is the main character who has lost her husband, has a psychotic ex mother-in-law, new boyfriend and unsupportive mother. Her life is full of delusions, but some are truer than others.
The narration was easy to follow and allowed me to visually follow along.

I will say, I might not have been able to give this book a fair chance because it was an audiobook. This book has so many twists and turns that it makes your headspin, especially when you cannot go back and reread things. However, if you love completely far fetched absolutely insane domestic thrillers then this is the book for you. This book follows a woman who had left her abusive husband, and one day she finds out that he died. She thinks that she can finally start to get over her past, but then her past starts to catch up to her. There are so many parts of this book that left my jaw on the floor- this author absolutely nailed the insane shock.

Did not enjoy this book. I think the accent made the audiobook hard to listen to. I had a hard time following the story. The story sounded far-fetched. I am not going to recommend this.

DNF!
let's call this book a wheelbarrow full of trauma with triggers on the side. Normally I can read thru this and be fine but this author seemed more interested in the shock factor than telling the story. The details were thrown in where they didn't need to be. It didn't add to the story, it took away from it. F this noise. I tap.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. It was very very similar to another book that I just listened to that I thought I was listening to the book I finished before this. It was entertaining.

It’s taken me awhile to process this book, it’s kind of held me up from writing my other reviews. At first I was going to rate this book 3.5 stars but after much thought - I can’t rate it higher than a 2. I hated this book so much. Now don’t get me wrong, I love twisted books but this went beyond that. So much abuse throughout it, it made me sick to my stomach. I had listened to this on audiobook and I wouldn’t advise it, heating it just turned my insides. This book is not for the faint of heart and it is loaded with many, many triggers.

What did I just listened to? I have no idea. This was... full of abuse and all sorts of messed up situations. In My Dead Husband we follow our main character Ellie after she left her abusive husband. One day she learns that he died and she can't be more happy about it. Her mother doesn't feel the same way even though she knows what he put her through. Ellie then gets threatening phone calls and things start to get weirder and weirder.
Overall, it was over the top and you should be aware of the triggers before deciding if you want to dive into this book or not. This book was a bit creepy, dark and disturbing; therefore I'm not sure how I feel about it.
