The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton is the 3rd book in her wonderful Boots and Bouguets series. The story revolves around the Bellini family’s winery, the three sisters (Erin, Brenna, Honor), who also run a wedding planning business.
Honor Bellini, our heroine, is the wedding planner for the family, with her attending a convention in Vegas. She encounters her sister Erin’s ex fiancée, Owen, who is also in Vegas for his craft brewery business. Since the family has forgiven Owen (he walked away a few days before the wedding), after learning why he left (cancer, chemo, et). Honor was happy to see Owen, a familiar face and together they spent the evening drinking at the bar; until they wake up in a hotel room together, with no recollection of what happened. Then they discover a wedding certificate showing they are married. At first, they decide to get an annulment, but Honor convinces Owen that they need to wait, since they have no idea if they had sex, and if she could be pregnant; so, they agree to go back home, and not tell anyone.
Both Honor and Owen began to spent a lot of time together, and the chemistry between them escalated, as they can't seem to keep their hands off one another. Honor had a hard time keeping the secret from her family, especially as her relationship with Owen continued to bring them even closer. Will they get the annulment/divorce or stay together? How will Erin handle their relationship when she finds out?
What follows is a slow build romance, with a couple that was unexpected, especially with Owen. What I loved about this series is all three sisters, the wonderful Bellini family, wedding/winery business; and the great group of friends we have met throughout the series. I rooted for Owen and Honor, as they really made a cute couple; and loved the dog, Bette. I also liked Mae, and loved seeing all of the family again.
The Accidental Newlywed Game was an enjoyable story, especially seeing everyone. Jaci Burton has created a wonderful group of characters that are so much fun and enjoyable; with wonderful couples and family. The Accidental Newlywed Game is a wonderful romance that was fun, entertaining and sexy. If you enjoy wonderful romances, then look no further than Jaci Burton.
Oh boy. Only with Jaci Burton would I trust this romance and OMG she did it! The Accidental Newlywed Game twisted the tropes and made me smile even when I was screaming haha. Such a good book!
Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. What a wonderful conclusion to this series. This was a quick read but really enjoyable. The antics that go on in this book to create the problem and then to hide the problem and then to solve the problem keep you wanting to read. A close family is a wonderful thing however they can also be "all up in your business" making it difficult to keep secrets. This will be a great beach read for those looking for a quick enjoyable read while basking in the sun!!
This was such a cute conclusion to the Bellini sister stories. At first, I was a little put off by the pairing, mainly because Owen ran out on Erin in the first book, but I grew to love and respect Owen and think that he needed a redemption story. Their love was so sweet and you could feel the emotion pour from the pages. I'm so happy that each sister ended up with the one they were meant to spend their lives with.
The third installment of the Boots and Bouquet series follows the youngest Bellini sister, Honor, and a long-time friend Owen. I enjoyed how Owen and Honor's relationship developed and I thought that this was a sweet romance novel. What brought it down for me was Honor's sister Erin, which is why I think I didn't enjoy the first book in this series. Erin's reaction to Owen and Honor's relationship was too much and I couldn't imagine treating my sister that way, for weeks (?), without talking and working through the problem. I could accept being upset when first finding out, but how the situation played out was too much and took away from the family support that you saw in previous books.
What a wonderful friends to lovers story The Accidental Newlywed Game was. Cute and funny at times, steamy and romantic at other times. Jaci Burton really drew me into this story and made me appreciate the lengths people will go to to protect the people they love.
Honor and Owen were both honorable and had chemistry that just oozed off the pages. They both know staying married is risky but, do they have a choice? Do they really want a divorce? Yes, there is major history between Owen and the Bellini family. They forgave him, they understood but, will they understand this and can he be forgiven … again?
The family dynamic throughout this story was fun, frustrating and refreshing. The Bellini sisters are all different but they work as a family. I love the way that Mama Bellini made them settle their differences. I could totally picture it in an Italian family because, who else but the mother has the power in the family or the last say?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The story was fluent and flowed off the pages. I can always depend on Jaci Burton giving us a fun and sexy story, engaging characters and the perfect mix of humor, heat and romance. And, throw in Bettie and your heart just melts with all the cute and cuddlies. A little bit of angst, a lot of humor and a whole lot of love. The Accidental Newlywed Game was a pleasure to read.
Yay!!! So I will confess this was my first time reading anything from this series but I love Jaci Burton's books and I couldn't;t let this one pass. I also was completely sold on the "the sister getting with her sister's ex fiancé"! I love it! I loved this book! and I will definitely be going back and getting the full experience. I only wised they would have been about to have more romancy moments in Vegas but the story ended but flowing just fine especially when I they got to Oklahoma. I am excited and happy that I was able to read this early.
Too cliche for me. I love the fake boyfriend/fiancé trope. Just didn’t captivate me like I wanted it to.
Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book, This is an honest review of my own.
I know Jaci Burton is a mainstay in romantic writers, I have yet to read other books in this series. This book was an easy read, I would say perfect as a beach read. A book that you can pick up and put down without too much worry.
The story is a cute one the only issue I have is that the reasons they keep the marriage from her family feels a little flimsy but it was a cute quick read and helped with my readers block.
I will be trying more of Jaci Burton's books, especially on vacation.
The h and the H have known each other for a long time. The H was once engaged to the h’s older sister. After a cancer diagnosis, H drops the older sister. The H and the h meet at a conference, have a few drinks, get drunk, and wake up in a hotel room married. They decide to keep the marriage a secret from their families. They wait to see if the h is pregnant to decide to get a divorce. They continue to sleep together, still keeping the wedding a secret.
Cute. I enjoy stories in a series like this where we see the same characters again. I haven't read any other books in this series, but probably will pick them up.
