Our Unfinished March: The Violent Past and Imperiled Future of the Vote by Eric Holder is an incredibly detailed explanation of the history of voting rights and regulations in the United States. His combination of past restrictions, both by society and by law, and the current situation in the United States gives the whole picture of civil rights as it stands today and why it’s so important to fight for a more open electoral process. Some of the stories and information shared are truly surprising at the impact they had within voting rights. I also appreciate how Holder, as former Attorney General, outlines not just the problems the United States has but also what needs to be done to better the system from abolishing the filibuster and electoral college to changing the Supreme Court. As a high school government teacher, this is a book I will use in class as well as recommend to all others.

This book is so important to our times. We must understand the past in order to make the future better. Eric Holder is a respected man and this book speaks the truth and wants people to get into action.
