This story is beautifully written. The story is told in multiple POV’s. It is a story of love and second chances. This book looks at organ donation which could be a trigger for some people.
Unfortunately I have not been able to connect with this book and after multiple attempts have had to admit defeat and mark as dnf.
Mike and Susan are a couple in their 50s. The spark has gone out of their marriage but the love remains. Zack and Chloe are two strangers who both receive heart transplants but have strange sensations that they think are memories from their new hearts...
The Crash is a real emotional rollercoaster!
Zack has an horrific accident with a chainsaw while Chloe has lived with a congenital heart conditon since birth. Both are lucky enough to receive donor hearts which enable them to live full lives again. Yet they both feel a strangely emotional pull out of their comfort zone.
Can organs retain memory? Can love transcend death? Fascinating questions dealt with in a really engaging way. Organ donation is such an important yet sensitive topic and I loved the use of it as a basis for a novel. I hope this encourages discussion about the incredible life changing effect it can have.
The plot is delivered in a non linear, dual timeline way. We see the multiple perspectives of Mike, Susan, Zack and Chloe which gives us a wonderful emotional link to all four characters. I really felt that I knew the characters and wanted them to have a happy ending even though I knew what had happened to the older pair.
The Crash is a wonderfully written book about the enduring power of love, and the plot about organ donation gripped my heart (pun intended)
Interesting idea for a book but I didn't connect to any of the characters so my overall enjoyment wasnt great
This is the type of story other authors tell much better
Catherine’s writing really is what connected me to this story. It is an emotional journey which will have you smiling and falling in love.
The Crash by Catherine Miller is a beautiful and emotionally engaging story of hope and resilience following heartbreak.
A car crash claims the lives of a married couple, and a love story over forty years in the making is stolen in the blink of an eye. But from the tragedy comes a chance at life for Zach and Chloe, each the recipient of a new heart. Unbeknownst to them, they have received a gift that will link them in ways that no one could ever imagine, and it is up to them to follow where their new hearts lead, in search of their missing part.
This is a heartbreaking read, but one that will ultimately leave the reader with the hope and belief that love does indeed live on even after we die.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
This book was a bit too sweet for me. Very predictable and a bit boring.. I just found the characters very flat
A dramatic and compelling story of two strangers linked forever in the wake of a heart transplant surgery. A tear jerker with some absolutely beautiful and life affirming moments!
This truly was a beautiful tale of lost love and found love, it really does touch the heart strings emotionally but at the same time does also make you smile in places.
It was truly well written and the characters all well developed. I was literally captivated by the story from start to finish.
The story is told from the perspective of four very different characters, the married couple Mike and Susan and then the two strangers Chloe and Zach, I liked that it was done that way as it bought different things to the story and let’s you get to know each of the characters individually.
This was my first time reading a book by this author Catherine Miller, but it won’t be my last as I really did enjoy it and it certainly did bring a tear to my eye in places. It sure makes you think about just how short life can be when unexpected things happen.
A married couple have finally reconnected after a holiday and are feeling loved up and eager to take on the future as they drive home.
Zack is filming a chainsaw safety demo video when things go horribly wrong and his life hangs in the balance.
Chloe was born with heart issues and has now reached the stage where she needs a transplant.
In this beautiful story, these four lives become connected in a miraculous way. This was a lovely story about how love carries on after we are gone and the importance of organ donation. Great story.
The Crash is a wonderful heartbreaking story of two donor heart recipients and the two donors. It’s beautifully written and with care as organ donation can be a highly sensitive topic to cover. Mike and Susan who have been together for 40 years tragically lose their lives together in a car accident, and their hearts go to the young Zack and Chloe who feel a connection.
It does make you wonder if the donor organs have memories, as this endearing novel takes you on the journey of the donor heart recipients as they feel like they need to reunite the hearts!
I really enjoyed reading The Crash and can’t wait to scope out another one of Catherine Miller’s books!
This book is absolutely brilliant
Love Catherine’s books and this one doesn’t disappoint
I really want to give this book more stars but obviously I can’t
A wonderful , heartbreaking, beautiful book
Thanks NetGalley
This book is confronting and emotional, transplants and organ donation are such a personal but public topic!
The main characters, Susan and Mike, are trying to save their marriage, they’ve grown apart. We then meet Zach and Chloe, the story flips back and forth, their lives are majorly impacted by Susan and Mike.
A very intense and powerful read, at times I struggled to keep connected to the reality as it was portrayed.
Thanks to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I was very intrigued by this story as my brother passed away unexpectedly at age 31 and became an organ donor. When I saw the description, I knew I had to read it. This book touched my heart (literally) in so many ways. Major warning - keep a box of tissues close by!
The Crash by Catherine Miller is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. This was beautifully written from start to finish and I did need some tissues.
But, in a split-second everything can change around you.......
After forty years together, from being teenage sweethearts Mike and Susan were driving through the winding lanes in the forest when a song comes on the radio. This song bought so many great and lovely memories back to each other, when they were at high-school dancing on a dance floor forty years ago, they turn to each other. That split second – a stolen glance......as memories wash over them – is one of their last. Moments later, their car crashes. OMG!!!!!
With two strangers lie in hospital, their lives hanging in the balance. After a near-fatal accident, it’s a miracle that Zach survived. And with a life-long heart condition, Chloe didn’t think she would make it past her twenties. This was the day when Zach and Chloe's lives are saved when they each receive a new heart.
A freak accident that saves two young lives.
This is a beautifully written story and told by Mike, Susan, Zach and Chloe's points of view. I love the way it flips back and forth between present the day and the past. A great book if you love reading from authors Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain etc.
I highly recommend this book But don't forget your tissues.
Big Thank you to Thanks to, Bookouture, and NetGalley for this ARC. in exchange for an honest review.
The story of the high school sweethearts dying in tragedy brings so many emotions, yet they being new love to light.
These are tremendous characters.
The Crash will wrench your heart, yet ,. touch your heart.
Catherine Miller is an exquisite writer, up there with the ranks of the famous great authors.
Such a heartwarming sad and touches your heart in all the same storyline.
Loved this book
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.
A husband and wife are driving near the forest and winding roads when a song that brought them together 40 years ago comes on the radio. They glance at ea h in remembrance and in that moment their car crashes. Chloe and Zach are in the hospital waiting on heart transplants. They receive hearts on the same day. They don’t know that they are forever linked as two hearts try to find each. A beautiful story of eternal love!
Thanks to Catherine Miller and Bookouture for the book!
I absolutely love this author and never even have to read the blurb before I agree to review one of her books.
This book is absolutely beautifully written and deals with an emotional subject in a really heartfelt way.
The story is told from the points of view of Susan and Mike, Zach and Chloe, and goes between present day and the past. I particularly enjoyed Mike and Susan’s story, hearing about how they met in school, and how they were trying to re-kindle the spark in their marriage.
I did struggle a little with the concept behind the book, but I have heard of the theory before, and it’s certainly a unique and interesting basis for a story. It makes for a really strong link between all the characters, and is an emotional read.
Thought provoking and poignant, this wonderfully flowing story will have you completely engrossed.
This is a highly emotive, moving and incredible read,
Full of memories, love and hope for those in need.
It starts with the crash that triggers the rest
And moves on to prove to be one of the best!
It is the story of four people involved in transplant surgery
The two donor and the recipients as you'll soon see.
Get ready to be swept away
And encouraged to make the most of opportunities every day.
It is a story of two hearts
Who fate endeavoured to keep apart.
But the hearts are filled with love for each other
And won't be happy till their partner they re-discover.
There are two love stories skilfully entwined
One starting forty years ago, the second only just being defined.
The stories are told from each separate timeline,
Showing how their path start to combine.
It is a story filled with both highs and lows
A tale full of hearts in which love grows.
A beautiful story, inspirational, too
That I can't recommend highly enough to you.
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
A superb read and this is my honest review.
