The book tells the story of three sisters who discover that their father was a serial killer. It’s decided to destroy the evidence their father has kept as souvenirs in a fire. However, shortly after their father’s death, copycat murders appear - and they are people close to the sisters. I found this to be a superb read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Very good novelist.
Wow , I really enjoyed this book . I loved all the sisters and the realistic arguments and falling out they did . Very interesting book that was well put together and held my interest throughout. Loved the small twist at the end too . Will definitely be reading more from this author . Thanks to NetGalley for my opportunity to read this
this is the second book from this author that I've read and in fact I have one other of hers to read , she's becoming one of my go to authors because with her books you have no idea what's going to happen next, and you can always get lost in them to the point where you don't want to stop reading. This one was creepy as well as unpredictable, and every time I thought I has something figured out , man was I wrong , will it was slow which is something you never see in thrillers , for this one it worked because it helped set the pace of the story and made it that more tense in some places .
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Great book!! This is a story of three sisters dealing with the death of both parents in a short period of time. While at the family cabin, they discover a secret their father has kept for years. Fast foward to the next year and we see all three girls dealing with the strain of the secret on their relationships. When the killer starts up again, the girls don't know what to think. I originally thought it was too obvious and I knew who the killer was; WRONG! The other possibility I considered was correct but not to the extent the author revealed. wow what an ending!
I loved this book 😍 creepy and unpredictable kept me hooked throughout. characters were great and well thought out
Wow! Miranda Smith is a new author for me, but a great one! This story takes three sisters dealing with the death of their father; recently after their mother's death. They discover their father is not who they think they is! The following year brings confusion and heartache as they deal with the secret, strains in their relationship and other secrets that come up. While I thought parts of it were predictable, the way in which events turned out overall was not what I thought. Cannot wait for more by her!
A Deadly Message…
Finding out that their father was, perhaps, a serial killer has been traumatic enough. Enough to tear them apart and enough to torture themselves. So, when a series of similar killings begin one year after their fathers death, and the media points to the same killer, they know that it can’t be him. After all, Henry Martin is dead. It soon becomes clear that someone is targeting the family with a deadly message. Fast paced, multi voiced suspense with a solid cast of characters, twists and turns aplenty and an immersive plotline.
Thrillers have seriously let me down lately. I had such high hopes and it was so repetitive. I see many people enjoying this, but I found myself skimming most of it because I just couldn’t wait for it to be over.
Wow was this a rollercoaster of a ride! We follow three sisters as they come to term with their father’s death and his secrets that are starting to come to life after his passing. This was such a fast paced and unpredictable novel! There were so many twists at the end that I felt like I couldn’t keep up at times! I will say that the middle of the book was a bit slow and I think a piece of it had to do with the lack of character development from the sisters. I think that if we had more of a backstory to their relationship prior to their father’s passing, we would be able to understand their current actions a bit more. Overall, I really loved the premise of this book! It was so unique and very enjoyable!
This review will be posted to my Instagram blog (read_betweenthecovers) in the near future!
Miranda is one of my all time favorite authors. I devoured this book in just a few days. You'd think with this many POVs it would be hard to stay straight but I was amazed at how well she blended them all together. Just when you might think you got this story figured out Miranda surprises her readers with a twist you didn't see coming right before the end. I absolutely loved this book!
A gripping rollercoaster!
This psychological thriller is a fast paced, compelling whodunnit, unpredictable and unputdownable - a real page Turner.
Easily worthy of 4 stars ⭐️

This is a great, twisty read! The concept was very interesting and once it got going, the action didn't stop, There were a few twists I didn't see coming and one in particular that had my jaw dropping. There was one loose end that was not tied up, but overall this was a very satisfying read. This is the first book I've read by Miranda Smith - looking forward to reading more. "Some Days Are Dark" looks very interesting!!!
The title said it all, someone in the family is a serial killer. Just as the family is finding out this horrific news, they are attacked by a copycat. The premise is good. The characters are interesting, some more than others. However, I feel that there is something missing from each character. They are not fully developed. The story is set in the present and I think that's the problem. There are not too many hints of the sisters as they were growing up to make their character whole. The ending was a shock and great; however, the chapters leading up to the ending were slow. Some parts of it were unnecessary.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first book by Miranda Smith I have read, and wow, I loved it! It literally kept me gripped from start to finish and I read it in 2 days. The characters came to life for me and it was tense, exciting and full of twists! I’d definitely recommend it, and I’m now going to search for other books by the author!
I loved the premise -- three sisters find evidence that their father may have been a serial killer after his death, and after destroying the evidence the murders seem to start up again but as a message towards them. That said, it wasn't the best written book I've read. There were elements I didn't see coming but a lot of what unfolded had me shaking my head. An okay read over a couple of days, but rather unfulfilling in many regards.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
THE KILLER"S FAMILY REVIEW:
Synopsis:
The Martin sisters, Cara, Rachel, and Molly are heartbroken at the passing of their father, six months after their mother had passed. As they deal with their grief, they must also process the fact that their father was a serial killer. Unable to process this recent information, the sisters agree to keep it a secret and destroy all evidence. A year later, the cops come knocking on their door because the secret is out...
What will they do?
Review:
Overall, I thought this was a fast-paced read but enjoyable! The plot was deep and it was hard to uncover the identity of the culprit until the end! But, the writing did not seem to be as well done as Smith's previous novels. Told from three different perspectives, this adds an intense twist to the novel.
Read it and see for yourself!
A dark and twisty read that didn't exactly live up to my expectations.
The Martin sisters, Cara, Rachel and Molly are heartbroken by the untimely death of their father, that too, just six months after their mother had passed away. But they are beyond horrified when they realize that their father had been leading a double life; his secret identity as that of a dreaded serial killer has thrown them for a loop. The sisters, unable to process this new reality, decide to keep it a secret and destroy all the evidence. A year later, when new killings crop up about town, the sisters realize that their secret has been uncovered and this time the killer has a special plan for them.
While I am a fan of the author, this book, however did not meet the standard of her previous works. I found the writing style repetitive and more of a 'tell, not show' approach, which after a point became grating. And, neither of the three protagonists were likeable, though, I am assuming that this was deliberately done to show that each of them had inherited undesirable traits from their father .
The plot itself was intriguing as I found it difficult to guess who the culprit was. Also, the way each sister was shown to have dealt with the double blow - the death of their parents and Henry Martin's hideous secret - each of them falling apart in their own respective way, was quite interesting. The plot twist too, was totally unexpected. However, the climax was rushed and messy and therefore, a let down.
Overall, i have mixed feelings about the book, primarily because I kept comparing it to other books by the author that I have loved, and found this one wanting. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Once The Killer's Family story by Miranda Smith got going, it didn't stop. The story is told from three sisters' perspectives. Even though I was able to figure out who was behind the killings, there were still several jaw-dropping twists and WTF moments. The Killer's Family is a well-crafted thriller. I couldn't put the book down as the story was rapid-fire action, and I had to find out what would happen next! The story had me questioning what I would do in each situation and my relationships with my siblings.
The only annoying point was being repeatedly reminded about where the photos were found and how each sister felt about their father and his connection to Gemini. As a reader, I don't need to be hit over the head repeatedly with details that have already been mentioned or presented.
I will definitely check out more of this author's books, and I would recommend this book.

OH MY GOSH, this bok was amazing. I literally lost sleep to finish it and find out the outcome of the book. It was well written with well developed characters and a gripping and engaging storyline. It was mysterious, unpredictable and twists that were nail bitingly good that had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it.
How do families cope when one of their own is involved or is accused of a notorious crime?
The Martins were a well-known and respected family in Whitehall. Henry, a charming academic, taught at the local high school for 40 years; his free-spirited wife, Margaret, was the choir teacher at the same school before she died 6 months ago and their girls, Cara, Rachel and Molly were adult children who exhibited the best of both parents. They were a loving and close knit family…until the night after their father’s funeral. The girls, adult orphans now, find a dusty cardboard box hidden in their father’s shed. Opening it changes their life forever and forces them to come to terms with the fact that their father was a notorious serial killer.
The uncovering of this deep, dark secret changes the girls and the author uses this revelation to explore how the siblings react to learning that their father wasn’t who he pretended to be. Told through the eyes of the three girls, Smith shows their internal struggles and how their relationships with each other change. She focuses on the burden of dilemma; should they tell the police what they found? If they do, what about the stigma attached? Will they be guilty by association? Smith also focuses on the burden of knowledge: will they have ‘monster’ in their blood, too? How can they get past this and remember the happy family memories?
You’ll have to read to find out if the Martin girls become the keeper of Henry Martin’s secret or if their sanity requires that they relieve themselves of the burden. You’ll read about Gemini who killed 17 women and evaded capture. YOu’ll read about secrets and lies piled high upon each other. But, you’ll also read about second chances and the strength of the sibling bond. Be prepared, though. The author has plenty of surprises up her sleeve and releases them just when you think you know what’s going to happen next!
Cleverly plotted and fodder for much contemplation, this book leaves readers with an open-ended question. It’s perfect for book clubs and buddy reads.
I was gifted this advance copy by Miranda Smith, Bookouture, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
