Can you really go wrong with an R.L. Stine book? My students don't think so. This book was no different. Great horror for kids. I loved that there were multiple stories in the book. Whenever a student wants a recommendation for a scary story, this is the one I recommend to them.
Readers of scary books will get a dose of scary with some unusual bits, sort of reminiscent of Twilight Zone. Ten short stories, prefaced with notes from the author are sure to keep middle grade readers (and even some older ones who fell in love with Stine’s other works) on the edge of their seats. Amazingly, I did not get a sense of reading a repeat plot a single time. Recommended for personal and library collections for those in grades 4-7 and with its short story collection format would be excellent to hand those who do not typically enjoy reading, have short attention spans, or need to take their horror in small bites at a time.
This is a pretty solid short story horror anthology. There is a reason R.L. Stine is so famous, he's very good at what he does. His characteristically creepy urban legend type stories continue to work nicely to scare a new generation.
Some spooky new tales are on the loose! I like Stine’s voice in these books, as he tries to preface each tale with an element from his own childhood and life. It really personalizes the stories.
Each of these 10 stories only takes a few minutes to read. Perfect to read before bed, if you dare.
I grew up loving Goosebumps and I couldn’t be more excited to enjoy new middle grade spooky reads from R.L. Stine with my own kids. As with any short story collection - some were great while others didn’t hit the mark. Overall, this is a solid collection of creepy tales and my kids are all excited to pick up another by R.L. Stine.
The best part of each short story was the author's sharing his personal inspiration for the plot. Plots are straight forward, but not horribly terrifying, which would make it a good choice for fourth, maybe third, and up.
For some unknown reason I never picked up any of the books by R.L.Stine ,but after reading this one I can see why alot of people loved his books. The stories where good and kept me reading ,even if they wasn't as spooky or scary as I'm use to.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* As always a great read! very nostalgic, would recommend and buy!
I appreciate being approved for this. I remember reading The Goosebumps when I was a kid. I enjoyed this and I really want to get a finished copy of it. I have this a three out of five stars.
This was a cute collection of horror shorts. I think my kids would really enjoy this too. I ended up giving it a 3.5 I did like some of the stories more than others but they were all enjoyable.

Whether you're a longtime Stine fan, or new to the party, this book will fit the bill. R.L. Stine's newest collection of spooky stories is just as fun as always.
Spinetinglers is a book of short stories by R.L. Stine. Most will recognize this name as the author of Goosebumps. Though not related to the Goosebumps series or any of it's characters, Spinetinglers still offers from spooky stories. Easy reading. Not too scary. Perfect for the Middle schooler looking for thrilling stories during the Halloween season.
RL Stine has done it again! Goosebumps who? I was thoroughly impressed with the writing style as well as the character development. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!
I received an advanced copy of this ebook from the publisher for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. R. L. Stine has did it again everyone. This book gives enough creepy vibes for the fall season. The characters are fantastic. It is fast paced and enjoyable. I enjoyed everything about this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. This book is in stores for $16.99 (USD).
Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillian Children's Publishing for this ARC!
This definitely brought back a lot of wonderful memories. I was a teenager watching Goosebumps with my younger siblings. We had so much fun. This was a great book! Definitely recommend for anybody who loves Goosebumps whether you're a kid or an adult who's a kid at heart! #stinetinglers #netgalley
It should be stated, this is a completely bias opinion. R.L. Stine can do no wrong in my eyes. Each tale is a spooky dream. Holding the title of Stephen King for Children is no joke and Stine continues to produce fun stories for middle-grade readers. With this new collection featuring 10 new bone-chilling stories, there is a story for everyone. I cannot wait until my library receives our copy!
As a child growing up in the 90s, I read a lot of Goosebumps. As I got older, I then moved onto Fear Street. Needless to say, R.L. Stine books certainly played a part in my own growing up years, and hold a very fond place in my memories. Now as a mom, I love that both of children have enjoyed the Goosebumps books (not to mention the movies and old TV show) as well. So, when I saw that R.L. Stine was releasing a book full of short stories, I knew it was going to be a great one to read my daughter!
And it absolutely was! Though I knew I had enjoyed his other books as a young reader, I really wasn't sure if I'd get much enjoyment out of these as an adult... but I absolutely did! They were just the kind of weird and creepy stories I loved in Goosebumps, without being too scary for even young readers. The stories were certainly a bit more modern with mentions of modern tech and pop culture references (my daughter really appreciated the mentions of Minecraft!) that remain appealing to newer readers. This was so fun to read together as the stories are shorter, but is great for kids to read on their own too.
But of course, it's a child's opinion who really matters, right? So here is what my 9-year-old had to say on the topic:
"I like it and the parts with Minecraft. Its cool. I like the story with the baby sitter."
If you have a young reader who enjoys Goosebumps or other not-too-scary-tales, this is certainly one to add to their collection.
**Complimentary copy received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
I grew up reading R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books and I was absolutely obsessed with them! They were my introduction to the horror genre and established my lifelong love of all things creepy, spooky and dark. So it truly felt like an honor to get approved to read the ARC of Stinetinglers on Netgalley.
Stinetinglers is a collection of 10 new scary stories for middle grade readers, each with a short introduction by Stine himself, explaining the inspiration behind each chilling tale.
This book did not disappoint! Of course there’s the element of nostalgia for me, but nostalgia aside, Stine is undoubtedly a master storyteller. Each of these stories is crafted with such care. Sharp, captivating and funny, while delivering all the creepiness, spookiness, darkness and terror that is signature R.L. Stine.
Even as an adult, I’m in awe of Stine’s ability to convey such a vivid and emotional experience, while keeping things simple and accessible for children.
My favorite stories in this collection are:
Welcome to the In-Between
Skin
The Boy Who Heard Screams
How to Change Your Life
The Bad Side
Thank you Netgalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing and R.L. Stine!!!
All that pickiness I experience when reading YA, recently? It doesn't at all apply to the genius that is R.L. Stine. Part nostalgia and part appreciation for Stine's incredibly ability to keep writing spooky stories--I thoroughly enjoyed each of the stories in this anthology.
These stories, while "scary", aren't too frightening--and are perfect for the middle-grade reader that isn't too sensitive.
Each of the ten stories is short, but straight to the frightening point. And I absolutely loved being immersed back into a world that I loved as a kid. And each story being prefaced with a slight backstory from Stine just enriched each tale.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. My review will be live, at the link given, on 8/30/22.
I really enjoyed this collection over-all! It has 10 stories. I didn’t care for 2 of them personally (but I didn’t hate them or anything) and I really enjoyed the other 8! 3.65 average rounded up to 4
These stories are perfect for kids I think and they are certainly fun to read as an adult to. If you enjoy Goosebumps (or Goosebumps like books) definitely check this collection out. A few of them gave my spine a tingle!
