R͎e͎v͎i͎e͎w͎My very first favorite author did it again!! I was SO excited I had the privilege to read this book if short stories before its release. I'm biased and absolutely love his books. These are the books that solidified my love for reading. Something I'll always be grateful. Anyway, on to the review 😄  I love how he wrote a short description on how the short story came to him. The stories were short & spooky. If you have a young reader or if you're like me and LOVE Goosebumps books you definitely need to read it!

RL Stine is killing it once again with this new stack of kid horror stories in one book! From outcast teens to creepy crawlers, this book is so classic Stine, it keeps me wanting more! Mr. Stine, more please!

I haven't read Stine books in years, but I used them regularly when I taught. You really can't go wrong with them! This is a great collection of ten short stories and would be a great way to introduce new readers to R. L. Stine (and delight current readers, as well!). I enjoyed the "behind the scenes" look at each story, as well.

Fun, creepy, and memorable! Perfect for budding horror fans.
I love the introduction to each story by Stine. That personal touch adds a lot.

Forever an R.L. Stine fan, grew up reading his books/stories(and loved the shows also). As an adult now I will still read his books (new and since the Fear Street show I want to re-read that series).

10 stories, all that give that 'Goosebumps' feel. These stories were amazing and def what I needed in my life. I liked all of them but my favorite was "Skin" so much fun.
The author's notes were also a great part in this book.

If you like or liked (as a younger person) the Goosebumps series then you need to get your hands on this book. It comes out on August 30th 2022.

I would like to thank the publisher, the author and NetGalley for this ARC and giving me a chance to read this book early. The above comments and opinions are my own, honest and voluntary.

Perhaps this is inevitable with a children’s author as prolific as R. L. Stine, but I felt that many of these stories were ‘phoned-in.’ I also think, however, that I was expecting stories for middle-grade but these seem more geared toward elementary-school readers, and so I was disappointed that the stories weren’t a little darker; this is purely my bias as a reviewer. These stories are pure fluff, tinged with macabre, not meant to help children deal with the heavier truths and emotions that true horror is made for but good for some lighthearted entertainment.

The best stories are, in my opinion, the funny ones. ‘Our Little Monsters’ is very cute, and ‘The Boy Who Heard Screams’ is fun because the protagonist is a little jerk, yet one you can empathize with. ‘The Monster-Maker’ is a nice closer to the whole collection, both cute and a little nasty in a way that satisfies. The other stories tended to have lackluster endings, as though Stine wrote them with a cool inciting idea but was unsure how to wrap them up.

The one element I really admired of the whole collection is that Stine writes a short prologue to each story in which he reflects on his initial ideas and writing process for that story. I feel like this could be incredibly useful to anyone interested in beginning to write stories, and especially for kids who may wish to imitate their favorite author, or just enjoy hearing about how mundane events from everyday life can be woven into a fantastical tale. It makes the whole process of authorship and inspiration feel closer to the possible for a young reader, which I think is wonderful.

To say that I was obsessed with RL Stine growing up would be a severe understatement. Whenever those Scholastic Book Fair flyers would rear their ugly heads, I’d mark the box next to every “Goosebumps” book I could possibly get, never really caring about the synopses, just being super intrigued by the gruesome artwork they provided for my already overactive imagination.

Fast forward A LOT of years later and I got my hands on “Stinetinglers: All New Stories by the Master of Scary Tales.” While it’s not as creepy as “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” it gives off The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” vibes. Quick stories, short buildup, and a quick, but fun reveal. Favorite stories: “Welcome to the In-Between,” The Boy Who Heard Screams, “The Bad Side.”

While I’m probably not the target audience for this book, I appreciated every moment of it, and it brought me back to those nights when I’d be buried under my Batman covers with a flashlight way past bedtime. This is a great read for the younger generation to dip their toes into the horror genre without scaring the bejeezus of them.

Creative, addictive, highly readable, and fantastically fun! Where was R.L. Stine when I was a kid??
Stinetinglers will be a popular new release simply based on the author’s track record. This one is extra special, because each of these small stories can easily be read in whole at bedtime (or midday if your child prefers some space between scary and sleep!)
I’m looking forward to hearing rave reviews from both children and their parents as they return this book to the library. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
My thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, Feiwel & Friends for granting access to a digital ARC.

R.L. Stine’s latest book, Stinetinglers, is a collection of 10 creepy short stories that fans of his Goosebumps series will probably enjoy. Every one of these stories felt like a shorter version of a Goosebumps book. Stine gives a short introduction before each story where he explains what inspired him to write that particular tale. I thought these introductions were a nice addition to the book.

There are a good variety of spooky tales in this book. I think my favorite story in this collection was ‘The Boy Who Heard Screams’ and my least favorite was ‘Bugs’ (I have a bug phobia!). I had a fun time reading Stinetinglers, but the stories are definitely geared toward a middle grade/younger teen audience. I didn’t think the stories were that scary, but then again, I’m not the target audience. I would recommend Stinetinglers to a younger reader who loves creepy books, or to an avid Goosebumps fan.

I enjoyed the stories in this book. Classic R.L. Stine. I think this is a great kids book. I wished in the Bugs story that the boy was actually a bug himself. I think that would have been creepier but also funny.

I love r l stine books and my childhood is really the main reason I requested this book. I wasn’t disappointed and think it would be a great book for the school libraries

Ten spooky stories for young readers, or like me, the young at heart. I was already an adult when Goosebumps and The Haunting Hour was on tv but that did not stop me from enjoying the show with my son, or buying him all the books, and years later I am still a fan of everything from the Fear Street books to the movies. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to get an early look at this new collection.

I loved the author's notes that tell where the idea for each story originated, and the spooky illustration at the start of each tale.
I think kids will appreciate the fast pace that can easily hold the attention of even the most reluctant readers. In true R.L. Stine style, some stories will have a message like being careful what you wish for and the grass is not always greener in someone else's life.
Not all stories will have a happy ending but the scares are age appropriate. Some of the stories are better than others, and some are just not his best work. I would still recommend this collection but I don't think it's on par with the author's previous works.

This was a series of short spooky stories. I was very let down by this one. I am such a big R.L. Stine fan ( the Fear Street series is one of my favorites ever). But this book seemed super young for me. I think younger kids will really like this. But as an adult reading this it was just not for me. I did like some of the stories in this. But for the most part way to childish for me.

R. L. Stine ignited my love for reading at a young age and still at the tender age of 35 I’m yet again giddy with joy to pick up another book from my childhood favorite author.

This collection of short stories is a perfect dose of spooky for readers young and old alike. The perfect excuse to stay up late tucked under a blanket with a flashlight.

R.L. Stine returns with a collection of creepy short stories that are sure to give kids the creepy crawlies. As a HUGE R.L. Shine fan as a kid I was so excited to see this book being published. It gave me great nostalgia and I really enjoyed the short introductions that Stine gives before each story. This title is destined to be well loved by new and old Stine fans alike.

As always R.L. Stine delivers easy to read spooky stories that will appeal to readers of all ages! I grew up reading Goosebumps and even passed a few book fair purchases down to my own kids (Slappy is a favorite in our family). I truly owe my love of reading to those early scary stories who helped capture my attention and harness my love of all things creepy!

And the Little Monsters short story is *chef’s kiss*

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Growing up as a kid in the 90's (with a strong adoration for all things creepy), it is hard not to have a nostalgic longing for anything R.L Stine creates. Stinetinglers did not disappoint in filling all of those scary sentimental spaces. Stine's ability to captivate readers until the very end of each story is unparalleled. My only remaining wish is that some of the language be updated to reflect how kids interact and talk currently. There were a few spots where the language did not feel authentic to how a teenager or kid would speak today. I would absolutely recommend this to new and old R.L. Stine fans alike.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital advance reader copy of this title.

Like many other horror lovers around my age, I grew up on R.L. Stine's books — I couldn't get enough of Goosebumps and I still love those books to this day. When I heard that Stine was coming out with this new short story collection, I was so excited to be approved for an advance copy and I couldn't pick it up soon enough.

I was actually going through a pretty rough time when I read this (we had just said goodbye to a very beloved pet), and nothing was holding my interest or offering me escapism until picking this up, but it was such a wonderful mood lifter and reprieve. ♥ It's not lost on me that, every time I'm struggling with a hard time or my mental health, I can go back to Stine's kids' books, new or old, and find something to distract me and make me smile.

If you like Goosebumps or other, similar slightly cheesy, silly, but still ultimately dark and creepy stories, I highly recommend picking up Stinetinglers! I think it's going to be a big hit with kids and adults alike, and I can't wait to share it with my son when he's a little older.

With Goosebumps, Fear Street, and standalone stories from R.L. Stine dominating my youth and helping to fuel my love for reading + reading horror, I jumped on the opportunity to read STINETINGLERS. This collection of new short stories is just what you would expect - and I mean that in the best way. I know I can always count on Stine's stories to help me escape, cheer me up, and fill me with a sense of nostalgia and continually fuel my love for horror. These stories are a lot of fun and each one has a brief blurb from Stine explaining a little about how he came to create it or who he thinks might enjoy it. I always love getting insights into the minds of authors, especially my favorites! Any Stine fan will absolutely enjoy this collection and I can guarantee an enjoyable reading experience.

I really used to love RL Stine. I did. I devoured his stories as a young person. I didn't however enjoy this book like I thought I would. In the 90s, this book would have been at the top of my list, but the stories weren't scary enough for today's audience. I would still recommend these stories to a kid that is looking for a slight scare.
