The Merriwell Sisters are back in this installment that focuses on Diana's romance with Giles. Although everyone says that they would make a good couple, both adamantly deny that they have feelings for the other. Giles is Diana's brother-in-law's best friend and is in their proximity often due to the familial relationship. With her younger sister and her brother-in-law's mother interfering, Giles and Diana are often paired to see if they can be coerced into courting and eventually getting married. Unbeknownst to everyone they each have a secret that they feel impedes them from having a fulfilling relationship. Eventually they realize that the feelings they have denied for too long do exist and they are determined to overcome their secrets and issues to act on those feelings. Heath does a great job with this one as there is never a dull moment with the Merriwell Sisters.

I really wanted to like this, it just wasn't for me. I tried to get into it, but I didn't make it very far before I had to stop. I don't know what it was with the story, it just didn't engage me. Doesn't mean it's not a good fit for other people, it just didn't do it for me.

I have been reading a lot more romance lately so I was excited to give this one a go. While I did enjoy the storyline, it was hard for me to follow because I have never really read anything set in this era. Unfortunately, because of this, I didnt connect with the books and the characters and much as I like to in a novel. With that being said, I think it would be a great read for readers who enjoy reading about this era. Even though it wasnt my favorite, I will definitely read more by this author in the future. I also put this on my re-read list if I ever get into this era. 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 for GR.

Another wonderful romance by Virginia Heath! I loved her first installment in this series and this second did not disappoint. The banter was amazing. A slow burn build up of tension that was a delight.

I am a sucker for Historical Fiction and this was so much fun to read!! I love the Bridgerton Vibes it gives off!! Before reading I did not know that its part of a series, and it was awesome as a stand-alone, however now I am hooked on this author and this series. The strong female lead, Diana, is able to hold her own in life. Her independent personality shines through and often leads to her butting heads with bachelor, Giles Sinclair.

They must work together to uncover some family secrets, and the process is thoroughly enjoyable for any reader looking for a fun Historical Fiction read!

This was a great historical romance, that I would definitely recommend! And if you haven't read the first book? Check it out! I really liked it.

Never Rescue a Rogue is part of a new series of historical novels by Virginia Heath, and I didn't have any trouble picking it up without reading the first in the series. Normally an enemies to lovers trope is catnip to me, but this story of Giles Sinclair and Diana Merriwell and their antipathy for each other led only to boredom to me. Even after obstacles were thrown at them, I found myself reading only because I had to read. I picked up this book repeatedly but struggled to keep going. I'm a read it all night type of reader, and if I have to force myself to stay engaged, it means that while it might be someone else's jam, it did not land for me. That said, I've thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Heath's trads, and do recommend them.

I loved this book even more than the first! The banter between Diana and Giles is irresistible and both characters are wonderfully developed. Seductive and sweet by turns. This series strays from the typical regency romance in that they are plot driven with more adventurous storylines than most. I found the plot of this one in particular to be riveting and read the book in two sittings. My only critique is that there are some repetitive turns of phrase throughout the book that felt a bit overused, but that is just a stylistic preference.

I was incredibly excited for this book as Diana was my favorite character in book one. I will say it did not disappoint. I loved this fun and entertaining journey into the regency era under the guise of Heath's pen. It is filled with amusing anecdotes, alliteration and wonderful exchanges!

Diana Merriwell and Giles Sinclair only tolerate each other for the sake of their loved ones. This was the second book in the Merriwell Sister’s collection and it tells of Diana’s story. I have not yet read the first book which is Diana’s sister Minerva’s story but it did not cause any confusion in reading the second one. This story was giving me Bridgerton vibes and I absolutely LOVED the characters in this one.
Diana and Giles had some intense sexual tension going on and I loved the build up to their romance and their banter. This book was funny, charming, and heartwarming as we see Diana slowly bring down her walls while at the same time Giles slowly realizing his feelings, they both lower their weapons and being to explore the true emotion that hides behind their façade of loathing each other. Family is a huge theme in this one which I really enjoyed and you can feel the strength of the bond between the Merriwell sisters, I have the first book so I cannot wait to dive into it and get caught up before reading the third book which will be Vee’s story whenever it is released 😍 Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a eARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review. I received a copy of this book for review from NetGalley. I intended to just read the first few pages while I was eating lunch, and then woke up 3 chapters later. Needless to say, Virginia Heath has the ability to just pull me right into the story, and not let go. This is a fast-paced, witty story with a LOT going on, so brace yourself for a whole bunch of revelations and twists. I will say that the one thing that slowed me down was trying to place characters from previous books, but it has also been a while since I've read them, and it didn't throw me that much after the first chapter or two. Overall, this was a fun romp of a historical, and I enjoyed myself a lot.

This was a cute second in series that finished much stronger than it started. I was planning on reading the first in series first, but ran out of time for ARC review purposes, and was told I could read this as a standalone, so opted for that route. I wish I didn't, because even though this story followed the second Merriwell sister, Diana, there was a lot of background information about other characters in the story that I was clearly missing from book 1, and it made it somewhat hard to follow as I tried to fill in the blanks on my own. The true main character of this book is Giles Sinclair, the roguish son of a Duke, who was recently tipped off to the fact that he is a bastard and not the legitimate heir to his father's dukedom. When his father suddenly dies and he inherits the title, his evil uncle Gervais comes back to town to challenge his legitimacy, and it is up to Diana, the covert gossip columnist and exposé writer at the local paper, to prove his provenance either way. Once all of this background information was settled, the pace of the book picked up considerably and I was more invested in the mystery. It ended in a cliffhanger, which I assume will be picked up in the third installment, even following a different sister. I had a little trouble connecting to Diana as a FMC as she was closed off and a bit prickly, but I tend to always have trouble with female leads who share some of my own worst qualities. I much preferred Giles' charming, self deprecating personality and the exasperatingly hilarious relationship he has with his former pirate butler, Dalton. Now that I am invested in the completion of this storyline I would definitely consider reading the third in series, but try to read the first, first, and really get myself all out of order.

This was a fun regency era romance that hit the right notes for me. I didn't realize this is part of series until after I started it, but that won't stop me from reading the first book after enjoying this one (I actually have an ARC of the first one that I just hadn't gotten a chance to read yet!). I loved Diana and her desire for her career and independence in an era where women were just expected to marry and stay at home. Giles was also a great character and I loved the banter between them.

Loving the Regency romance stories that Heath has been writing about. A great story about a playboy heir and a newspaper investigator. Loved how Giles was actually a sweetheart. My favourite kind of hero.

I've long been a fan of Heath's, and am loving this new series. The sisters and their perfect matches shine with wit and heart. Looking forward to seeing what comes next from this author!

This was delightful. I love a good friends to lovers and Diana and Giles are actually friends. They begin with that snarky, teasing, "no really we do not get along" type of banter, while family all give them a knowing look. Of course they end up being there for each other, having their friendship grow into more, while solving the great mysteries in their lives. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Works perfect as a standalone. I was never confused and was able to follow the storylines perfectly. I have no read Book 1 but enjoyed this one so much, I'll be looking for it.

This is a different style read for me. I am not usually into romantic comedy, but this is also a romance and comedy, and I am glad I gave it a try.

This was a great take on the enemies-to-lovers trope, without too much drama. It was witty, smartly written, and funny. It was also a bit of a fun challenge as the writing style and historical word choice is unfamiliar to me. It was a fun, quirky, romance read.

When I was offered the arc for Never Rescue a Rogue, I happily accepted because historical romance is one of my favorite genres. And this one was certainly up my alley. Virginia does a great job of making a wonderful story on a very independent woman and a duke’s son, who may lose his dukedom. Diana and Giles are witty and strong characters and they have a great chemistry. Never Rescue a Rogue was a very nice read, although Virginia took some time to build up the tension to Giles his problems. I was tempted to put the story down, but it kept me just enough interested to read on. In the second part, the pace picked up and the plot came together quite nice. I really enjoy Virginia Heath's flirty and romcom-ish historical romances - and I liked this newest one. I really loved the 'enemies to friends to lovers' element of this story - it created such a lovely conflict and so much tension between Giles and Diana and I couldn't wait to see how it all turned out!

Virginia is skilled at writing these stories, historical with a touch of humor, and I can't wait for the next one!
