Outstanding story, especially for dog lovers. Taught me so much about Vets and the challenges they face.
Morgan and Nathan were both complicated people and had a connection that popped off the page. Great
plotting, great dialogue and an intensity of feeling that touched my heart.
Fun read! Not my normal genre but the cover was so cute I gave this ARC a shot. Well researched, truthful about the stresses of professional life (managing rude/pushy customers without losing one's cool, the patients, and overhead/costs plus demanding management) while trying to seem unflappable and having no personal life all rang true. The story: all types of dog characters, many different/interesting human characters, a bit of clean romance, plus some life changing emotions that bubble up leading to a somewhat predictable ending. Who doesn't love it when things work out?
Such an unexpectedly enjoyable book! A burnt out veterinarian who is soured on love find happiness in a very unexpected place, where she has a love/hate relationship with a surfer and learns so much about herself. While the romantic theme is nothing new, the depth of the veterinarian's character and her willingness (eventually) to search inside herself makes this a stand out book. Recommended for a lightweight and thoroughly enjoyable read.
For me, this one didn't hit me in the feels. I felt like it may have been the clear privilege of the characters or maybe it was just that I didn't connect fully to them and their story. I felt ambivalent toward the humans, but liked the dogs quite a lot. Regardless, I think it will find readership here, so I'll purchase a copy for the library.
There was one typo - ugh, I can't remember where! Not quite halfway through the book. But a dog that isn't Hudson (was it Palmer?) was called Hudson.
This book was fine, but for some reason, I didn't love Morgan Pearce, or Nathan, for that matter. I can't put my finger on any particular reason for not liking them, but I was lukewarm towards them. Didn't dislike them, but wasn't really invested in their HEA because, eh, who cares. Perhaps it was the ultra privileged Nantucket setting? But the writing was good, the characters believable, and it featured dogs.
Get out your tissues! This is a fantastic book. If you have pets and love dogs, this one is a terrific read. Family drama and pet love, what could be better?
