This book was so good! I want to see more from this author in the future!! I couldn't put this book down. What a page turner!!!
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
I really enjoyed chapter one and was excited for the rest of the book. Unfortunately when the cast of characters piled on rapidly in the next couple of chapters, I became totally lost. I really prefer fiction that does not require too much memory power. Ha! Maybe you have to read the preceding instalments in the series. So this was not for me, I’m afraid. Those who are not new to the series will most probably like revisiting the recurring characters.
To get the best reading experience I recommend reading the first two books. These are recurring characters. That said I loved this one! Plenty of action and suspense keep the pace fast. Full of twists, it kept me guessing. There's a large cast of suspects. Mac is my favorite character and I want more of her and Taft. I also enjoy Jamie and Cooper and their family. Especially Emma. The author seamlessly blends these two groups of characters into one great read.
So, for some reason, this didn’t really read like a Nancy Bush book. It’s weird, because I can’t pin down exactly what was different – it’s just that as I read it, I literally kept forgetting who wrote it.
That being said, it was a fun read.
The folks at The Villages are all kind of nasty. Sooooo much trashiness in once place – they all needed better hobbies. It was fun to find out what was really going on and the various scandals definitely lead to some unexpected places.
One character was so tragic. I really did not like this person when first introduced, but I ended up so sad about their character arc.
A truly entertaining beach read!

I loved this suburban thriller telling the story of a couple of PIs trying to solve the mystery of a couple that are snubbed and antagonized by their neighbors, for no apparent reason. Nancy Bush definitely does it again!
I enjoyed this book, but you have to pay attention. There are a lot of characters with complicated relationships that were hard to keep track of and multiple story lines. This book is the 3rd in a series and I think the reader would benefit from reading the previous books. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC of The Neighbors by Nancy Bush.
This is my first by Nancy Bush and I wish I would have known this was the third in a series because I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more. That being said, it was still an enjoyable, suspenseful read. Keep in mind before diving in that this one has many, many different characters that I had to really find the quiet time to read this in order to navigate it all. Overall, it was a good, thrilling, complicated read for me.
Behind every door and every smile, there are grudges that run deep and dangerous. Mac and Taft are being marked as targets, but why? Figuring out who to trust is the key to uncovering a killer who has no qualms about killing again. The neighbors are watching. And if getting into the Villages was difficult, getting out alive may be impossible. Id definitely read other books released by this author. Who needs sleep? Yes, I dropped everything and immediately downloaded this book and read it in one sitting!
This is the third book in this series. I liked that Cooper, Jamie, Emma, and Harley from the first and second books are still featured. other than that I thought this was too long and wordy. too many people, too many paths to keep up with. Not my favorite. I do thank NetGalley for the advanced copy for my opinion
The author, Nancy Bush, has an incredible ability to bring several story lines together in one book. I enjoyed the characters interactions with each other, and found them to be an intriguing group of people.
My only issue was the fact that there was a constant flow of new characters. Even after I started writing down names and bits of background information, I still felt a bit lost as to how they fit in the story at times.
Overall, this is four star book in my opinion.
The residents of River Glen’s exclusive Villages neighborhood are not the neighbors you want to have. Mac Laughlin’s newest case involves serving as a companion/bodyguard to needy Daley Carrera who has been the victim of minor pranking and, by the way, whose husband might want to kill her. Mac quickly sees behind the facade of the Villages: the “Old Guard” who are definitely hiding something and the “New Guard” with their cliques and hot tub parties. As Mac becomes more involved, she makes dangerous enemies. Meanwhile, a local policeman is nearly killed because of his involvement in another case and Jesse Taft, Mac’s boss, tries to unravel what he suspects was a murder tied to a drug case.
There’s a lot going on here. Nancy Bush has developed strong characters, balances several plots and builds suspense. However, this is the third in the River Glen series and does not read well as a standalone. Cases and events from the earlier books spill over into this one and it is hard to understand the relationships between some of the characters. For instance, I didn’t understand why Taft had worked for Mangella. I wish I had known more of the River Glen Police Department back story. 4 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Books and Nancy Bush for this ARC.
This is the third book in this series. The book has so many characters and storylines that it is hard to follow at times . There are too many mysteries to follow and a lot of killings and deaths. But, I did read the book even though I skimmed Parts. I did enjoy the main relationship and would like to read more about it. I did enjoy the family relationship and loved the ending
Mackenzie (Mac) moves into an exclusive development, The Villages, to protect a woman, Daley, who claims her new neighbors have made her the target of unpleasant pranks. There is a lot simmering under the surface of this seemingly idyllic neighborhood--secrets, lies, tension between the OG and the newer residents. There may be a tie to a missing person case being worked by Mac's partner, Taft. An entertaining mystery with enough going on to make me want to keep reading, but not sure I'll remember much about this novel in a month or two.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This book is filled with lots of twists and turns throughout this mystery but at times there were way too many Characters in the midst. I found myself skipping through a lot of the details.
Also, the chemistry was not there between the two main characters. I would give this book 3 stars.
The Neighbors by Nancy Bush is about a neighborhood with layers of secrets and traditions. This is book three in the River Glen series but can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone book. Mackenzie Laughlin had no idea of the conflicts which would arise when she agreed to work as a bodyguard for one of Taft's friends. Daley Carrera feels threatened in her new neighborhood in The Villages. Daley tells Mac (Mackenzie) there is a hierarchy among the residents such as the old guard and the new guard. The older original residents of The Villages have strict and peculiar rules they enforce through the HOA. Daley has had packages and mail stolen and then doggy poo put in her mailbox.
As Mac and Taft dig into the murmurs of cliques and old resentments within the residents, they discover a link to a missing person case Taft had been working. This is not good because now they are put at risk!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
The Neighbors by Nancy Bush After a slow start, the pace picks up. Multiple story lines are taking place which the author deftly integrates into a narrative that is a intriguing beginning to to a surprising end. Some of the characters are personable and realistic, while others are not. Good addition to the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Kensington Books and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
I look forward to reading a thriller keeping me engaged, check.
This is the third Mac and Taft mystery thriller. The pace of this book picks up, as the start of a touch slow. It’s more a slow build, I don’t mind it in this situation. Though multiple stories are taking place, I found it easy enough to navigate.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Mac's next case is help a woman who moved into an exclusive neighborhood where she does not feel safe. With more questions than answers, mac will need everything she has to find out which neighbor is guilty. Thus book kept me guessing.
This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review electronically. One of my favorite authors…mystery…thriller…murder…family…marriage…love…neighborhoods…themes that run throughout this novel. This author is ingenious at weaving g a story that is intriguing from the beginning to the surprise ending. The characters are so lifelike that the story reads like a true story…some are likable while others are just NOT. Enjoy this one…try to discern who the guilty are… I did have trouble keeping up with streets and the names of the neighbors…so many…that being said, I just enjoy reading this author.
