This was a very cute and cozy and wonderful holiday sapphic romance. And look at that cover!? I hope we get more books from this author.
It was a really cosy and Christmassy read. I really felt how the characters cared and loved each other and the twists and turns throughout the book. Would definitely read another book from Courtney Kae again.
This book didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was so close, but something just didn't work for me. I always love a small town romance but this one didn't seem plausible. I just didn't fully believe it. However, I am 10,000% invested in Ben and Adam's story. I recommend giving this a shot if you love a good Hallmark small town romance. It might be for you.
I really enjoyed this book. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, throw in a second chance romance and make it sapphic and how could I say no. This book gave me all the feels of a Christmas Hallmark movie with the emotional turmoil they sometimes fail to deliver on. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
Was in the mood for a feel good, holiday romance and thought of this book as I heard a lot about it. It felt like a wlw hallmark holiday movie that was good but just missed something for me. I did love the second chance trope aspect of it and Fern Falls was amazing.
I enjoyed this book, I though it was a good mix of cute holiday romance which is def needed more of in wlw context.
Overall disappointed in this. I had higher hopes based on the blurb and the hype but overall it fell short. It’s an attempt at a sapphic hallmark Christmas romance and I appreciate the premise. I could not get invested in any of the characters. The characters were flat and one dimensional. The romance did not feel believable. The estrangement was lacking depth. It all felt very contrived and not in a good way.
I'm always a sucker for sapphic stories, but contemporary can be so hit or miss for me. This sounded like a fun premise and I did have fun with the opening, but I very quickly got bored and set it aside without feeling any compulsion to pick it up again. I may try this one again when I'm in a better mood for contemporary, or maybe a different format would work better, but for now this book just ended up not being for me.
This is just the kind of hallmarky cheesy sapphic fun I needed. A little bit silly, a lot sexy, very sweet.
An adorable Sapphic read I could consume in a day. I don't typically crave friends to lovers or second chance romances. But, this book succeeded in making me desire both while also being wrapped up in a holiday ribbon. Cute, endearing and well worth adding to the holiday Sapphic rotation.
This is a low 3* that could've been a high one - the third act felt rushed, to the extent that at times I couldn't quite work out what was going on because the sentences just didn't quite make sense when stacked up together on a page. But it was a delightful small town sapphic holiday romance apart from that, so I still enjoyed it.
sapphic hallmark movie? don't mind if i do! this was such a perfect holiday read! there was the perfect amount of spice and the conflict never felt too overwhelming! very enjoyable read and a staple read to get a break from your own family during the holidays!
A cute spicy book with great characters. I always love a small town charm and this one doesn't disappoint.
Sweet sapphic medium-spicy holiday romance perfect for the reader who loves wrapping up in a blanket and watching Hallmark movies.
If you're wishing there were more queer Hallmark Christmas movies, this is for you. There's nothing too deep here, no issues that aren't almost immediately resolved. But I enjoyed that, it's a cute little Christmas read. It did one thing I didn't love - each issue is sort of tackled one by one rather than slowly building things and wrapping them more toward the end as a climax. It felt like sections of the book could be broken up into "MC gets the girl," "MC pulls off the event," "MC takes on the bad guy," etc. Still, there are a billion of these with straight couples, and queer women deserve little light holiday reads too.

Thank you @kensington for my gifted copy!
This is the equivalent of a Hallmark sapphic romance made for the big screen! Big town LA hot shot has a fiasco and only way to redeem herself is to go home (the last place she wants to go) and dun dun dun, help her ex she’s pined for Christmas Tree farm from being taken by corporate greed! Can they save the farm AND their relationship? Tune in to find out!
Fern Falls was the coziest of places. I adored the town and their small town feels. I really liked Rachel, and wished the lumberjane was the MC instead of Morgan. She doesn’t give off the best of feels, and I found her to be too pretentious at times. But their romance was cute and I guess every couple has one person I like and one I don’t.
Overall, it was great premise and minor cast of characters. Not a major fan of Morgan, but it’ll be fine. Out now!
Overall this was quite enjoyable. I am someone who absolutely devours Hallmark movies in the months leading up to Christmas, and I’ve searched for that same feeling in book form. Luckily this was a spicier, sapphic twist on that wonderful Hallmark holiday approach. Very cute with sweet romance and fun characters, In the Event of Love was a second chance romance and just cliche enough to be a great holiday read that I think many will enjoy, especially as it gets colder outside. I mean who doesn’t love a Christmas tree farm romance??
a cute and cozy queer holiday rom com, I felt like most of the book's plot hinged on all of the characters being incredibly poor communicators
I'm not usually a fan of slow-burn books, but I love second chance and friends to lovers so I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did! I'll be reading more of Kae in the future for sure.
This is pretty cute. There's some parts I did enjoy. I think if you're after a cute and quick read, you'll definitely enjoy this.
