Ruarc, whom we first met in Dark Alpha's Obsession and who subsequently reappears in Dark Alpha's Need has a chance at a HEA when he reconnects with his former love, Chevonne. But all is not a bed of roses. Unexpected conflict threatens to separate them and keep them apart. Xanath makes a significant appearance but then he once again disappears. The Six and the Others seem to be gaining strength while Death and the Reapers have their roles to play. And then there's that cliffhanger ending . . . The next books in these series can't come soon enough for me.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
This is a great series and I am always looking for the next in the series as the Reapers and Death try to stop the "Others." Sometimes, it seems like they don't make much progress and the Others seem to make more gains. This time, it is Ruarc's story and he is torn because he is forced to help the Others and keep people he loves safe and do things that he hates along with leaving the love of his life, Chevonne.
The two meet again but things don't go smoothly and problems occur. Without giving spoilers, we do find out who the leader of the Others is. Along with a few other small reveals along the way for Ruarc and Chevonne to try to reconnect after years apart.
Could not put this book down and can't wait for the next Reaper book!
This was my first book by this author and I don't think it did well as a stand alone. The world building was great, but there was no tension to the romance and I didn't think the characters were well developed. There was a lot going on in a very short story.
Dark Alpha's Passion (Reaper, #14) by Donna Grant
They just keep getting better and better. Donna grabs me then keeps me up most of the night reading to find out what happens next. Then I'm sad because I finished the book and I don't want it to end. Ruarc and Chevonne find each other again and then all hell breaks out. The Reaper's and their mates are all here as well as Erith(Death) and her mate Cael. There is evil with the Others and some family, some smiles and tears, deception and forgiveness, and steam to get us to their HEA. BUT - it's not over and I can't wait for more.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read Wonderful characters Witty Happily Ever After Haunting Romantic Scary Page-turner Tear-jerker Steamy Unpredictable Entertaining Action-packed
Chevonne is a Light Fae. Ruarc is trying to set the wrongs his father has done. Once a couple, Chevonne and Ruarc were separated due to the Others and the Six. Ruarc did not want them to use Chevonne against him like they are doing his family. After hundreds of years, Chevonne runs into Ruarc and demands answers. But someone has been watching her and use her family and Ruarc to get her to find out about the Reapers. A fight ensues and Ruarc thinks Chevonne has betrayed him and when he is killed Death is waiting to make him a Reaper.
Great story but I knew something was going to happen with Chevonne and it's like when you watch a scary movie you close your eyes. You can't while reading but I did stop reading a lot. 😂

Three and a half
I have to start by saying I love the Reapers with all their twists and adventures, not to mention romance . That however is where for this reader this book falls down.. I just didn't believe that Ruark and Chevonne could just fall back into each other's arms, not to mention bed instantly after being apart willingly for so long ! Yes I enjoyed seeing Death and the other Reapers and I love that the author has found a way to continue their journey. The best part for this reader was the way the evil character ( sorry no spoilers ) stepped in and just annihilated those in the way. I sincerely wish to continue this series but hope that the next instalment features a certain female Reaper and the Fae who has been full of surprises .
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I also enjoy a quick read from Donna Grant. It was great hearing more about the hero after he was introduced several books ago, and he did not disappoint. He was brave, loyal, and a wonderful hero. I liked how brave the heroine was at first, bit the she went backwards on her character. She did finally redeem herself in the end. I also loved hearing about old characters, I did not enjoy the double cliffhanger, bur I know it's a series and it's a build up, so I will continue to read the series.
