This is the second in a series about three Wyoming brothers- the Wilde brothers- and it is just as wonderful as the first! Hunt is the straight laced law man and Cyn is the quintessential rebel. They have often been at odds. Through facing domestic abuse and other crimes they grow closer and start to acknowledge their attraction. But can these radically different people find love together?
Hunt is a ‘walking sex dream in uniform’ according to Cyn. He also changes diapers! (lol) Cyn is a wild child who takes care of and cares for all sorts of people in her community, not just her family.
Because part of the book is about domestic abuse it should be a difficult book to read. It might very well have been a trigger for me, a survivor of domestic abuse. And not everything ends up all shiny and gift wrapped. But it isn’t a hard book to read. Nor is it preachy. Rather it is a wonderful, sexy and heroic love story. It is so easy to see why each falls in love with the other. And it is impressive to watch these two delightful people working together throughout to solve a crime.
Though part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone. If you don’t already own book 1 you probably want to order it with this book. Readers will probably seek it out because they are just going to love this one. I look forward to recommending it to my patrons and friends.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Cyn is known for the loud, but fun woman always has a smile on her face well except when a certain hot Wilde man that goes by the name of Hunt. When Hunt witnessed cyn's sister's bf hit cyn his blood was boiling. One day cyn and her sister had a plan but she disappeared with infant daughter. Both cyn and hunt had some rough patches but they knew what they wanted.
I got this book from her Publishers! Netgalley!
I love this book~ I can not wait for more! I really am loving her books! I am glad I picked them up!
ARC received for review
Hunt was an absolute butt in the first book, and doesn't start out much better in this one. Cyn is fiery and determined to save her sister and niece. Along the way they fall out of dislike and into love. Now, I want to know more about the biker gang and the sisters that help them out.
Another awesome Wilde story, this one centering on Hunt and Cyn. I love the characters, the plot was sad but great, and the story kept me turning the pages until I knew the outcome.
Cyn has watched her sister get abused by her boyfriend for years. She has begged her to leave him, but she never does. Now that Angela has a baby, Lana, she is determined to finally leave her abusive relationship and start fresh. But, things don't go according to plan, and Angela and baby Lana go missing. Cyn will stop at nothing to get them back.
Hunt has been half in love with Cyn for awhile, but being an officer means he is always having to write her tickets and give warnings for her reckless driving. But, when she puts herself in danger, he will stop at nothing to protect her and help bring her family home.
Story deals with domestic abuse in a realistic way.
Awesome book, looking forward to the next.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Cyn and Hunt. Can’s sister is being abused by her boyfriend. Hunt is a police officer and has been called out numerous times relating to Cyn’s sister and boyfriend. Cyn’s sister tells her she is going to leave her boyfriend. The next day she is missing. There are lots of problems for bot Cyn and Hunt from missing sister, missing baby, missing boyfriend, and a car sunken in the river and being shot at. But together Cyn and Hunt find love.
SURRENDERING TO HUNT makes one think of the phrase don’t judge a book by the cover. First impression is interesting, and Jennifer Ryan is going to teach us all a valuable lesson. Part of the Wyoming Wilde series, so all Wilde fans are going to be very happy.
Hunt and Cyn are like two ends of a magnet. They deflect each other, while harboring an intense attraction that neither would admit. Hunt Wilde is the local policeman who keeps giving Cyn speeding tickets. Perhaps that is why she glares at him whenever they are together. Or perhaps not. That is the joy of meeting characters conceived by Jennifer Ryan and why SURRENDING TO HUNT is just plain delightful.
And yet SURRENDERING TO HUNT is about domestic abuse, which is difficult to read about, probably because it is more prevalent than we would like to admit.
Cyn’s sister Angela’s boyfriend Rad uses her as his private punching bag. Of course he rapidly apologizes each time, she then forgives him until the next time. Cyn is tired of seeing her sister bruised and lacking self-confidence. All Cyn wants is for Angela to extricate herself from this relationship. But that is the frustrating part.
Hunt has been called to Rads house for domestic issues. His hands are tied if Angela won’t press charges. And now Hunt finds Cyn placing herself between her sister and Rad. That is making this personal. As much as Hunt can’t understand why Cyn gives him the cold shoulder, he is finding it more difficult keeping his distance. There is just something about this sassy, purple haired beautician that has gotten under his skin. And Hunt has thick skin. Which is why these two make a great, unexpected team.
Rad and Hunt used to be good friends. Hunt didn’t recognize the angry bully Rad had become. As a lawman Hunt begins to see these qualities in his old friend and tries on several occasions to get him to stop. He knew that Angela and Rads relationship was toxic. But without her statement his hands were tied. Until he witnessed how far Rad would go.
There was no way to ignore the threats that Rad now voiced right in front of Hunt, while he used their friendship as a ploy for understanding. Hunt would never understand or ignore bullying or abuse. And now unfortunately Cyn has made herself a target. Cyns reaction to Hunt goes beyond her traffic tickets. She can’t understand why he can’t or won’t help Angela. This has become her mission and it has made her a target.
SURRENDERING TO HUNT isn’t about surrendering to fear, it is about standing up to it. There are moments in this Jennifer Ryan story that will make you very sad. But once again Jennifer Ryan delves deep into a devastating problem and does not sugar coat the issue. SURRENDERING TO HUNT is done with heart and care making it an important story to read.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Can and Hunt start out despising each other. Hunt keeps issuing tickets to the purple haired and outgoing Cyn and she has the glare down whenever she sees Hunt.
Hunt comes to Cyns rescue when her sister Angela is in trouble and their relationship begins to turn. Hunt becomes protective of Cyn and realizes there is more to her than her quirky hair and personality however Angela’s husband keeps turning more and more violent and soon Angela and her daughter are missing.
Can Cyn and Hunt stay alive long enough to find her sister and Lana?
HEA ending…..
I completed this book very quickly it was a fast read that I enjoyed. Very much a summer romance novel to read at the beach.
Loved this book. Couldn’t put it down. It was a must read. Loved the chemistry between Hunt and Cyn. This story has heart and dealt with some real heartbreaking issues.
Need more from the Wilde men and there cousins.
First I would like to preface this by, I had no idea this was a series book. I should have probably done a bit more research overall and considered waiting for the first book but considering it's just the 2nd book in the series I'm not too overly concerned with it.
Second, this book contains a high profile story on Domestic Abuse. If you cannot handle reading that, I sincerely do not recommend this book.
This is probably one of, if not the, worst books I have ever read.
The writing itself, is fine honestly. The author is a very talented writer, but I found absolutely nothing gripping me to the couple. I was bored, and only stuck through the book to figure out what happened to her sister and niece. As soon as I found out, I closed the book. Halfway through I started skimming just to see if I could find it.
I'm going to be honest, I truly did not expect the book to turn out this way with the description and little blurb about it.
These two go from having secret feelings for each other, straight to basically dating within the period of two days. It is extremely overwhelming and makes no sense. We don't get a sense of their history with each other enough for it to be meaningful. He calls her "Sweetheart" ever single time he speaks to her immediately after telling her he likes her, almost every single sentence. It is overused, and just not good. (Look, I don't know about others but I love my husband to bits and I've met so many married couples no one does it every single sentence it's just annoying.)
I'm going to be honest, I read this saw the image and kinda just rolled my eyes and laughed because it just seems like a "the girl is so quirky with her purple hair, will she be tamed by Hunt Wilde the police officer?" like - what is that? It sounds like a fanfiction from 2008 honestly, and it reads like one too.
There were tons of run on sentences, some chapters were only a single page (I'm not sure if the editor is to blame for that or what though) The chapters just didn't flow together.
Of course we got both of their perspectives through out chapters, it did switch between Cyn's and Hunt's perspectives frequently, but it was never fully clear. One chapter would end with "he walked away" the next would start with "she was mad" (Not this exactly of course, but this is what happened either way.)
The book felt like a mixture between the Third person and First person perspective, not to mention we randomly got a chapter/a few pages in the villains perspective just out of no where?
The book feels rushed, incomplete, and I truly just...Cannot recommend it at this time. I am hoping by its release date it gets really polished up, but it needs less chapters honestly. There are so many things that happen that...Just don't need to happen. There is a lot of inner monologue that is just turned into them speaking about the same inner monologue. Like, either have the characters mull it over or just have them say it, there is no sense in repeating things.
This story goes inbetween realistic things, and unrealstic things quite heavily. It cannot make up its mind on what it wants.
Also perhaps don't do the same pose on the cover for both books? If there is a 3rd book in the serious hope we spice it up a bit or figure out something a bit better.
Lawman Hunt and rebel Cyn are always at odds until the disappearance of her sister. They come together and find that they have more in common than justice. Steamy romance, action packed, edge of your seat drama.
What an amazingly written book!
Jennifer Ryan already had me hooked on this series with Chase and Shelby's story. Cyn and Hunt were amazing together.
First off Cyn is a true rebel- dodging the law lol- and being completely true to herself. Hunt is a straight laced police officer / cowboy a deep down wants it all, that being his own family. Danger keeps bringing these two back together, but in the worst way when Cyn's sister Angie is dealing with a violent boyfriend.
Cyn is determined to help her sister out whether she seems ready to take that step or not- leading to dangerous situations Hunt keeps rescuing her from.
When things go far beyond devastating is there to always rescue Cyn and she is there to give Hunt everything he's ever desired.
The suspense, drama and romance in this book makes for a very great read.
Hunt is a local police officer for the town of Willow Fork; he plays everything by the book. Cyn lives her life to the fullest, as if everyday could be her last. Too many times Hunt has pulled Cyn over for speeding and issued her a ticket. The two couldn't be any different than night and day. At some point in their interactions Cyn has gotten under Hunts skin, in a good way.
Cyn has begged her sister Angela to leave her abusive boyfriend Rad so many times. Where others would have eventually given up, Cyn refuses to lose hope that she can save her sister. Hunt and Rad were the best of friends growing up but over the years Hunt has seen a change in Rad. When Rad takes Cyn hostage Hunt is called out to diffuse the tense situation. Rad finds himself arrested and sees this as betrayal from his long time friend. A few weeks later, Ang and her new born daughter Lana come up missing. Cyn and Hunt work together to discover what has happened to them. During the investigation, Cyn and Hunt cannot deny the attraction between the two of them. Can Cyn help Hunt to loosen up and learn to live life a little? Can Hunt tame Cyn? The real question is, does he really want to?
Jennifer Ryan tackles some tough social issues in her stories and always manages to do so in a manner that is realistic, sensitive, and educational. Domestic abuse is an unfortunate reality for many men and women. In Surrendering to Hunt, Ryan manages to give a true and honest perspective of what the family of an abused individual experiences when a loved one refuses to leave the relationship. I loved the strength and independence of Cyn. Ryan's writing made me feel the struggle such a strong woman endures when she is unable to save someone she loves. Hunt is our sexy hero who understands that no matter how much he wants to he can never hold Cyn back, he must allow her to be who she is, it's his responsibility to be her just be her partner.
I am really excited to see what story Ryan develops in the next chapter of the Wilde men for brother Max.
Hunt has his hands full with Cyn! Great character dialogue and interaction. There are some very heartbreaking moments in this story. Lots of action and suspense with some twists! It’s a great journey to their HEA.
I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is the second in the series of Wyoming Wildes. I have really enjoyed this series and the social issues that Ryan has delved into with her main characters. In this book, we have Hunt Wilde’s story and his complicated history and attraction to Cyn, a purple haired disaster. Cyn feels that Hunt is doing his job as sheriff because her sister’s husband is abusing her. He explains that unless she makes a complaint there isn’t anything he can do. Cyn gets upset but realizes that all she can do is be there for her sister when she decides to leave her husband Rad. But Hunt by mistake at Rad’s job talks about his abuse of his wife and Rad’s boss fires him. When Cyn hears about this, she races to Rad’s cabin and finds her sister and niece missing. She believes that Rad killed her sister and wants Hunt to arrest him but without evidence all he can do is question him. Cyn and Hunt start to work together to find out what happened to her sister and niece. As they start to work together their attraction grows and Cyn finds out that Hunt has always cared for her and wants to be with her. Can she think about her life when she doesn’t know what happened to her sister and niece? Take a wild ride with Cyn to find out if she finds her sister and niece and what happens to her feelings about Hunt.
Wow!!!! This book is a winner! I quickly fell in love with the characters, especially Cyn, who's quirky, fun, and with a huge heart that she only shows to those closest to her. Hunt is the cop that keeps pulling her over and giving her tickets, but can't stay away from her. When Cyn's sister is in trouble, there's only one person that she trusts to help her.
As Cyn and Hunt work together to resolve her sister's issues, they fall in love and forge a strong bond that cannot be broken. When the worst happens, they can only rely on each other and find the only positive outcome possible.
I loved the characters and found myself invested in their story. I couldn't put this one down and stayed up half the night to finish this book. If you like the genre, you will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
