I am not a fan of humor books that make fun of popular titles, so I am not the prime audience for this book.

Hilarious pastiche of the common contemporary “inspirational poetry comic” that has become popular recently. I really love the genre, and you can tell this author does too. The humor is all in good fun and very wholesome.

This parody had me howling! It captures pandemic lockdowns perfectly while adding some whimsy. I’m sure I’ll read it many times in coming years and think back on this strange time in our lives.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher of this novel for the E-Arc copy. I am rating this book based on my own personal opinion and was not given anything in return. I am not leaving a entire review because I read so many at a time that I physically cannot right now.

Thank you NetGalley and Mobius Books for this ARC.

This was a cute, simple, very short story. I like the artwork of this parody.

"The Woman, the Mink, the Cod, and the Donkey" by Margerie Swash is a parody that will not stand the test of time. Since it was written during COVID lockdowns, it carries the weight of the times, and will be forgotten long before it is ever read by a wider audience. The art was great, the story was easy to follow, and there were moments where its humor shined through, but all in all, its pub-crawl fell flat even before the wine was found.

Unfortunately this was a book I did not enjoy. I understand what it was trying to do parody wise but it had no value for me.

A cute parody, doesn't make much sense if you haven't read the original. Never seen Donald Trump as a donkey, probably a metaphor in there somewhere. Get a drink, we'll talk about it at the bar.

I received an ARC of, The Woman, The Mink, The Cod, and The Donkey, by Margerie Swish. I know this book is a parody, I found it annoying. Looking for a bar, not just any bar.

Pros: I adored The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse, so I was interested to read this self-described “affectionate parody” of it.

Cons: I found The Boy. . . to be such a precious book, and this “grown up” parody of it missed the mark for me. It wasn’t funny, charming, or profound. The tone felt a bit mocking of the original book. The reading experience made me uncomfortable, and I would have stopped reading if I weren’t obligated to leave a review on NetGalley.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Book Group, Mobius for the opportunity to read this book.

As I do not have a positive review to offer, I will only be leaving a review on NetGalley and not on Goodreads, Storygraph, etc.

This was different and perhaps not what I was expecting. I did enjoy it for what it was, but it isn't something I would typically pick up. It is a simple story with equally simple illustrations that match well with the content. I can see how someone who has dealt with loneliness during the pandemic may relate to the story, and find comfort that others have struggled as well. I'm glad I read this and would recommend this as a coffee table book or a book to open discussion about feelings of loneliness.

I received this book as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and exchange for an honest review. I’m not sure I like this book as much as her first, although it had some interesting messages it was a bit all over the place and there’s nothing really to hold my interest about their journey. It just didn’t really work for me.

This was such a lovely book to read. It’s a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy. I’m a big fan of Mackesy’s book so I was excited to read this one.

It was a quick read and although it wasn’t the funniest book I’ve ever read, it did put a smile on my face. The story is set during lockdown and obviously makes a few references to Covid so it was definitely relatable. There were a few hard to read words, but it wasn’t too distracting. The illustrations were really good.

Overall, it was a great book to read.

I'm a huge fan of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse which is the book that this one is parodying. Unfortunately the book just didn't land for me, maybe because I'm already so invested in the other one and expected something different. The pictures are cute and parts of the story are funny, but I think the women loving wine trope is a little bit overdone, and some of the text is hard to read.

"An affectionate parody" is the best description for "The Woman, The Mink, The Cod and The Donkey" by Margerie Swash.

I recently read "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse" by Charlie Mackesy, so this resembled that but as a parody for adults.

This was pretty enjoyable, a nice way to pass the time overall, and the artwork was amazing. I didn't have any laugh-out-loud moments though or loved it in any way.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
