This book was recently chosen for my book group to read and I was having so much trouble finding good questions to lead a proper discussion. This guide is so helpful and I can't wait to use these questions when we have our meeting!
I have never read a book club kit but it was neat getting to hear the author's story behind the story! I also really appreciated the suggested book club discussion guide. There were three printable bookmarks that mirrored the cover art that were really cool. I loved the list of books by other Indigenous authors and links to support Indigenous communities. These resources, unfortunately, are not common to come by.
Fantastic kit for use in book club meetings. We struggle with discussing the book (we usually say a few worked about it and then start chatting about anything in general) and this will help us to stay on track.
Definitely has good discussion topics/guides for Firekeeper’s Daughter. I really enjoyed the authors interviews which gave some interesting insight on her thought process and inspiration. If you’ve read the book alone or for a book club, this kit has great resources!
Great introduction to the kit with the authors note. Lots of thought provoking book club questions to structure discussions. Particularly liked the recommendation of other indigenous books, and what you might like about them based on features of Firekeeper's Daughter.
Okay this is an absolutely incredible resource for my bookclub to use. I am so appreciative of all the work that went into creating this PDF and I think it will for sure elevate our book club discussion about this incredible book.
Thank you!
I recently finished reading Firekeeper's Daughter, and this book club kit was a great resource. First -- bookmarks including the gorgeous cover art for the book. I always say that I could look at that cover all day, and now I can!
I really appreciated the insight I gained from reading the author's interview and introduction. I didn't know how closely Daunis's background reflected the author's own. Boulley really is a firekeeper's daughter! It is always great to hear how an author was inspired and what drover her to tell her story.
The book club discussion questions are numerous and thought-provoking. Everyone should read this novel -- and then use these questions to explore the book's impact more deeply!
Thank you to NetGalley, We Are Bookish publisher and the author for the book club kit!
This was my first time reading a book club kit and I loved it! Reading the author interview was really insightful. I also thought the bookmarks that you could download was such a fun idea. Also the discussion questions were great it really made you think about what to answer. I also appreciated that it recommended other books by Indigenous authors and provided how you can support Indigenous communities and additional hotlines.
This is great for book clubs!
Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da es sich hierbei ja lediglich um ein Book Club Set handelt und nicht um das richtige Buch...
Firekeeper's Daughter was one of my Top 10 books of 2022, so I loved the chance to look through an official book club kit. I'm such a sucker for bonus content from authors and I believe the author letter and interview included in this Kit could lead to really interesting book club discussions about identity and the process that formed the book. Also, the questions formulated by Angeline Boulley would be excellent jumping off points for club discussion.
This kit is awesome. I run a book club at a high school and this is great. I would love to see more of these for people like me. Already set with discussion points and printable bookmarks make this a 5 stars.
Downloaded this to use for my book club and I have to say I was immediately impressed with the detail. As somebody who has a difficult time leading book club conversation - this will be extremely helpful.
This downloadable and/or printable kit will be a great tool for book clubs reading Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. I was thrilled to see how much detail was included in the kit, and it's the perfect size with an interview with the author, thought-provoking discussion questions, handouts, and a suggested reading list for those who want to read more books on Indigenous communities. The kit provides helpful and informative information that I can't wait to share with other book club members. I greatly appreciate the effort that went into creating such a useful tool that deepens our understanding of the importance of this book.
I really liked this. My book club is reading this book now and we have a meeting later this week and I'm so happy I stumbled across this so that we can use it in book club and talk about it. I love that it has extra things about the book and from the author
I absolutely loved this book, and this book club kit includes a lot of interesting information about the book and author that really adds to the enjoyment of this book!
This is a fantastic resource from NetGalley & We Are Bookish! Thank you for the attention to details like the graphics and printable bookmarks that make this just fun to have and use. The content warnings are always helpful to gauge what folks have capacity for and the author interview was a great addition to the experience by offering insight for readers, beyond the thought-provoking discussion prompts.
This book club kit is delightful and seems clearly written by a booklover FOR booklovers! It’s so helpful to have something to use as a guide for conversations, and would be especially helpful for someone starting or joining a book club as well as anyone who wanted to deepen the discussion about the topics this story brought up for folks.
Special shout out for the inclusion of suggestions of books to read next AND Indigenous community resources! Loved that!
The Firekeeper's Daughter needed a great Book Club Kit and this one didn't let me down!
Thanks, We Are Bookish!
If I start a book club, this would be super helpful. However, I teach middle school, so this is not a book I would teach to my students. The themes would likely be triggering to some of my students. I however loves Firekeepers Daughter, and if I had people to start a book club with, I'd love to do this novel.
This is a fantastic book club kit! Everything you could ever need in on place with a lot of fun extras.
I often have to make my own book club material and the things I look for when creating my own are author interviews, further reading suggestions, and content warnings. This kit has all that and some! It has questions for your group, printable bookmarks, how to support Indigenous Communities and a letter from the author.
You really can't ask for more when it comes to a book club kit!
I’m so grateful to all these book club kits having content warnings nowadays. It’s definitely something I think is super important for a lot of readers and I really appreciate that these kits are all taking the time to include them.
Truthfully, oftentimes when I read author interviews, I find myself skimming through certain pieces looking for the information I’m really interested in. And most of the time, I don’t particularly learn a ton of new things. For this particular author interview, however, it was an exceptional opportunity to learn about a culture I’ve not been particularly immersed in through my life. And I just loved the question related to the author’s quote regarding writing to preserve a culture. This is such an important fact to keep in mind and it really speaks to you when you think about how important books are to be our looking glass not only into the past, but into the present and the future.
I especially loved this book club kit because not only does it get into important topics and educational knowledge that we as a society need to immerse ourselves in, but it also strives to expand opportunity to learn and know these things. Not only are there further book recommendations, but there are also recommendations to resources outside of the realm of fiction. And I thought that was really cool!
