Miigweetch to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for this Book Club Kit.
I enjoy the author interviews quite a lot, and the discussion questions were stimulating as well; they really allowed me the opportunity to dig into the story in a way that I hadn't before as I was casually reading. I thought the book suggestions for further reading and #QueerGirlSummer TBR were excellent and on-point. However, the best part was the recipe for the Su Special! This was a tie-in that really worked for me - I could see myself making this for me and my Not So Serious Book Club pals, while crooning along to the included playlist.
Fantastic Book Club Kit per usual!
I knew I had to read this as soon as I found out about it, because "Red, White & Royal Blue" is one of my all time favourites. And the sci-fi twist cought my attention immediately. To be honest, it wasn't as good as RW&RB, but I really enjoyed the book and the premise of time travel.
What I love the most about Casey McQuiston's writing is the ability to portray the complexity and rawness of the characters. Even the ones that aren't the main focus of the story. Although August and Jane are the main characters here, I felt like I knew every single character in this book like family. They were all so charismatic, different in the most beautiful way.
I normally don't ready time travel books but I loved this trope in this one. It kept me on my toes the whole time, because I wanted to know what had happened to Jane and how/and if things are going to resolve. And the chemistry between Jane and August? Out of this world. I couldn't stop smiling everytime those two interacted.
"One Last Stop" was such a cute queer story and I especially value it for the diversity. It made me feel accepted and loved and I hope that everyone who decided to read it will feel the same.
Book Club Kit: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston by We Are Bookish. Sometimes when I am reading a book I want to get to the end so I can find out what is happening. By going and reading a book club kit I can find out the end of the story and go back and finish the book so that I can take in the details of the book. Brenda Novak’s book group read this book last year as one of their books to read. I had it on my booklist to read. This book club kit is very good and now I will go back and read the book that I am halfway through.
Really cool additions for your Book club! There are recepies, bookmarks a playlist, ideas for which topics discuss (as to be expected) and even further reading recommendations.
This is a great book club kit for One Last Stop with a thoughtful interview with Casey, group discussion questions, a recipe inspired by the book, some printable bookmarks, and suggestions for further reading.
I would absolutely utilize this kit in a book club conversation- the questions seemed designed to spark real conversation around the book's themes.
I haven't used this book club kit in an actual book club, but as a discussion guide for me and my friends while discussing Casey McQuiston's books between us and it worked out perfectly.
The material is very helpful and gives nice talking points.
The interview with the author was interesting as well.
The book club kit is fantastic! I'm so glad there are extras like the author interview and recipe to add to our book club experience.
I am in the process of reading One Last Stop and look forward to sharing this book club kit with my friends that are reading along with me.
Another brilliant book club kit which has offers some seriously interesting, useful and fun content. The author interview is detailed and will be of interest to her fans and any readers who are aspiring authors.
The fact that there's a page which gives a full list of warnings for potentially shocking content, which includes themes and ideas which are alluded to (e.g. racism, police violence) as well as those which explicitly appear in the main plot of the book, was really useful as we all have different tolerances for such content.
As well as this, the kit contains printable bookmarks and music playlist suggestions, which are always welcome additions. I love the book One Last Stop and can't wait to read it with my book club.
The discussion topics are also great and will be put to good use.
Thank you We are bookish for this kit!! It's a really nice addition for when you finish the book and just want to know more and talk about it with friends!
I really liked the book club kit! The interview with the author brought up some really good world building points and added some nice behind the scenes, abd the questions posed are good jumping off points for a real chat!
This was such a fabulously put together book club kit! I found the letter from Casey McQuiston about the inspiration for the book to be really interesting, and their interview answers really added to my understanding of the book. The discussion questions are standard and would work great with any group. The folks I talk about books with can sometimes be more critical, so we might have appreciated a question prompting us to think about the ways white authors can respectfully write about characters of color, particularly in historical context like this book (especially since there was a little bit of a back-and-forth about that topic regarding this book in particular on Twitter a while back). Or a question considering the believability of the book's scifi elements or mystery solved by coincidences. I loved the playlist, and the book recommendations were really useful - I'd heard of the fiction romances before, but the nonfiction books were all ones I hadn't seen before, so I'll definitely be adding them to my nonfiction TBR! My favorite part would have to be the included recipe for Jane's breakfast from the book. That had me drooling!! I'll definitely be making it soon, haha. Overall a really solid, really fun book club kit!
(My one nitpick would have to be that I might have preferred a different font?)
I really appreciate the book club kit. I haven't read the book yet, but this is a great resource for book clubs. Because of the kit, I am more likely to select this title for an upcoming book club.
This is a really fun and informative resource for fans of One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. It contains an interview with the author discussing some of their process behind the book, book club discussion questions, printable bookmarks, and more! Of particular interest to me were the further reading suggestions for more information on queer history, and the playlist of important songs found in the book.
I loved hearing a little bit more about one of my favorite books ever! I'm going to make the Su special soon for myself and re-read OLS. I'm also going to read all the books the author has recommended! Aaaah!
This would be such a fun read for a book club. This guide is so cool and I love the illustrations.
I love the playlist and The Su Special looks amazing and I’m definitely going to try it.
I thought this was the book itself! It is still nice to have more information about the book before dividing into it. Thank you for creating this kit! It spiked my interest.
Okay I'll admit, I thought this was the book itself at first since i've never read a book club kit before, but i'm glad I still chose to read it.
I now know quite a bit about the book before reading it and I really loved how we got the story behind why and how the book was written. I'm definitely going to love reading it!
Wel i thought this was a book when i download it. It wasn't. Seeing as this wasn't the book i can't give a review for i haven't read it. I hope i like it though.
Thank you to NetGalley and We are Bookish for this kit
Wonderful aid for any bookclub! lots of good ideas and a nice Q&A section. I must admit I thought it held the book too
