I absolutely adored this book! I even bought it for my niece as a present.

Dani is a young girl whose mother died when she was very young, it is just her and her father, and then soon, her best friend, Ella.

Young readers will recognize the school setting and identify with the situations that Dani encounters there. It is refreshing that while it's not all sunshine and perfection, it is rather positive.

The illustrations are a delight! I loved the hearts on the end papers - simple but lovely too.

This is a sweet, well illustrated "chapter book" for young children. Each chapter is quite short and accompanied by B&W illustrations. Young readers will enjoy reading this on their own, or it's great for read-aloud. Likeable characters and situations that children will relate to make it a great read for little ones.
