The It Girl was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, and it did not disappoint!
I'm a HUGE Ruth Ware fan, have read all of her books and dropped EVERYTHING as soon as I was approved for her upcoming release.
I enjoyed the alternating timelines so much! It's always so satisfying when everything starts clicking into place.
The characters were fantastic, the plot was intriguing, it was twisty and kept me guessing the entire way though the story! I didn't see that ending coming at all!!
So happy to have read an advance galley! Huge thank you to Simon and Schuster Canada!!
I was ecstatic when I received email from NetGalley with the link to ARC of Ruth Ware's new book. I really enjoyed this page turner and ending was unexpected! I have all Ruth's books and will add the hardcopy to my collection as soon as it comes out! Fans of Ruth Ware will love it!
Huge thank you to @netgalley @gallerybooks and @ruthwarewriter for the advanced readers copy of The It Girl.
In my opinion, each new Ruth Ware novel surpasses her last. The ingenious storyline will keep you on the edge of your seat. As fhe story progresses. we learn about the tragic events that took place on the Pelham campus 10 years ago. We watch as Hannah struggles through her life a decade later, not sure if she made a grave mistake all those years ago. With lots of twists to keep you guessing, Ruth Ware weaves another marvelous tale. You won't want to put this book until you've finished it!
An excellent novel that kept me reading compulsively. There are clever twists and angles in this satisfying mystery. Characters are well developed and readable.
Thanks to netgalley I recieved an ARC of The It Girl. In my opinion this is Ruth Ware's best book yet!
Hannah Jones is accepted to the prestigious Pelham College at Oxford. There she meets April Clark-Clivedon her roommate and soon to be best friend. April is the ultimate It Girl. Beautiful, stylish, smart and talented but April has a dark side. On what should have been a night of celebration Hannah finds April murdered in their room and Hannah's testimony helps put her killer John Neville behind bars.
Hannah gets a shock when John Neville dies in jail after years of maintaining he was innocent. This turns Hannah's world upside down and makes her question everything that happened the night of April's murder. Did John Neville kill April? Did Hannah's testimony put an innocent man behind bars?
I loved the dark creepy vibe in this book. Ruth Ware made me question....was Hannah overreacting? Did John Neville kill April? If he didn't who did? Just when I thought I had it figured out the plot twists, turns and has me second guessing again. I loved it, couldn't put it down and will definately read it again!
This is a thriller set at Oxford University and told in a dual timeline. A pregnant Hannah Jones should be looking forward to the birth of her first child. Instead, she is haunted by the past. The past comes to the forefront when a journalists contacts her telling her the wrong man may have been convicted in the murder of Hannah’s college roommate, April. Will Hannah leave well enough alone,or will the guilt she feels overcome her and cause her to return to the past?
I actually enjoyed this book and didn’t have a clue who the killer was. There were a lot of possibilities and a lot of red herrings. The characters were definitely diverse, although not really that likeable. Of the three Ruth aware books I’ve read, this one is, by far, my favourite.
It was however, a bit long, in my opinion. Hannah’s reflections also became a bit repetitive. For this reason, I’m giving it 4 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
