I am a Peloton user and a huge fan of Tunde's classes. I was delighted to learn more about her through her writing. She has an interesting life story to share but it's her words of wisdom and motivational speak that really resonates with me. She has a way with words that are inspiring but never preachy or condescending. I appreciate her candor in dealing with weight, finding her career path, and her personal relationships. As a woman of color myself, it's wonderful to see a successful, confident black woman have so much success.
“Find your voice, trust your gut, and SPEAK because we’re all listening”
If you’re a fan of Tunde on the bike, you’re going to LOVE her new memoir. It’s heartfelt, raw, emotional and so motivational - just like the Tunde I know from the bike. The whole time I was reading I could hear her speaking the words to me 🥰 i loved her story and how she weaves everything into her mantra of SPEAK - surrender, power, empathy, authenticity, knowledge. Thank you @netgalley and @avidreaderpress for the eARC, I loved it!
Now BRB - going to take her latest 20 min pop ride! 🚴🏼♀️💪🏻
As a Peloton rider, I was familiar with Tunde and a little bit of her story. I just can't imagine going through everything she went through while still keeping a positive outlook on life. Her story truly is inspiring and I really don't think I could have survived the events that took place in her life. I read this book in a very short period of time because I was so invested in wanting to read more (the book could have been longer!). I will say that I was a little confused on her exact timeline of events because I felt like the book jumped around a lot. And even though she did give a lot, there were some events where I wish I heard a little bit more from her or more of her true, raw feelings. If you are a Peloton user or not, I highly recommend this memoir!
Thank you @avidreaderpress and @netgalley for the eArc of @tune2tunde new book!!
I was BEYOND excited to be approved because I LOVE TUNDE! She is by far my favorite @onepeloton instructor (highly recommend ALL her classes BTW).
When I clip in the bike or walk to her episodes - I welcome the Tundeisms. In fact, it now makes sooo much more sense why she is full of the best energy and is one of the most motivational influences at Peloton (IMO). After reading Speak, I practically highlighted everything, I gained a much higher appreciate for this beautiful soul. Every encounter in her life has made her so much stronger! I am so grateful she chose to share her upbringing with some of the most rawest thoughts and inner dialogue. If I were ever so lucky to meet her I would totally cry.

Let those 5 words sink in! Highly recommend this book for all my Peloton users and motivational readers. We need more people like Tunde in this world.
I didn't know much about Tunde other than she was a badass Peloton, and a beautiful human so when I began reading this book I was blown away. What a strong, fierce, driven, and powerful woman. I loved reading about her struggles and triumphs, her losses and wins, and truly getting a feel for who she is. I so often would read a bit, then immediately want to go take one of her classes. Lovely memoir even if you have no idea who Tunde is, but I think everyone who takes her classes should read this one immediately.
I was excited to see that Tunde had a memoir coming out as she's been one of my favorite Peloton instructors for a few years now. Not my typical go-to genre, but I realized I didn't know much about her personal life so I decided to pick it up. Glad I did! This book is all about Tunde living a life of purpose and following the pillars of her mantra 'SPEAK' - Surrender, Power, Empathy, Authenticity, and Knowledge. The book has readers follow along Tunde's life journey and situations and allows us to see how she has manifested and embodied what "SPEAK' is. We see her go through the death of loved ones, relationship struggles, and body image/weight issues. She shares what she has learned from all lessons life has given her and how she has managed to maintain a positive outlook. This book is great for anyone wanting to make positive life changes as Tunde provides all the tools to be successful!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for the ARC!

Speak: Find Your Voice, Trust Your Gut, and Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be ~ Tunde Oyeneyin
▫️READ IF:
* You love a good acronym.
* Tunde is your go-to for an inspirational and energetic Peloton ride.
* You’re in need of a life shift.
▫️SUMMARY: If Peloton is your chosen form of working out, then Tunde Oyeneyin is a familiar name. She has pushed you to get that PR, made you smile, and danced and pedaled her way into your heart. But how did she get to be the inspirational figure and workout companion that she is today?
Using the SPEAK acronym - which stands for SURRENDER, POWER, EMPATHY, ACCOUNTABILITY, and KNOWLEDGE - Oyeneyin takes the reader through the life lessons and enlightening experiences that help her to live her fullest life, with intention and purpose.
▫️REVIEW: Anyone who knows me, knows that I am devoted to my Peloton routine. I never miss a day and Tunde is a top instructor for me, whether it’s a hip hop ride or an insane arm workout. Because of this, I feel like I know Peloton studio Tunde. After reading Speak, I feel like I now know her as a daughter, makeup artist, sister, best friend, and advocate - all the facets of her life that allow her to inspire and encourage.
Her story is told using the acronym SPEAK and I appreciated how she was able to take a moment in her life, relate it to the key word, and then have that make sense to the reader. There were several life experiences that resonated - although my life may be a bit different, Tunde is just so damn relatable and I think that’s what I appreciated the most about this one. If you love Peloton and Tunde, this is a must and if you don’t but just need a little inspiration, give it a go!
Tunde is my absolute favorite Peloton instructor so I was thrilled to learn she was writing a book about her life. Tunde often slips in stories about her life during her rides but this book cracked her right open. This is a raw, beautiful, emotional and motivating book filled with stories about Tunde’s life. She has dealt with incredible loss and amazing success and she takes the reader though it all! Thanks to Netgalley and Avid Reader Press for an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. Highly recommended!
When I first got a Peloton in the Spring of 2020, Tunde was one of the instructors that I gravitated towards. It was a combo of the challenge of her rides leaving me breathless and her inspirational words often leaving me in tears.
When I heard her book was coming out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It was the perfect blend of self-help and autobiography. It didn't go into deep details about her life but she shared some of the key moments that helped shaped her.
I highlighted so many phrases and sentences in this book to come back to later.
I really enjoyed it. Even though it seemed to slightly rush to the ending... I enjoyed it
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced e copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Tunde is such a great Peloton instructor. I enjoyed learning more about her life through her book Speak. Tunde explains the five pillars of SPEAK, the acronym she lives her life by: Surrender, Power, Empathy, Authenticity, and Knowledge. I'd classify the book as a motivational memoir giving insights into the obstacles she's overcome in her life while highlighting how she has stepped into being her most authentic self and her hope that others can to.
I didn't find this to be heavy on the self-help angle, which was perfect for me. That being said there were still plenty of passages that spoke to me, for instance "To build endurance, you have to endure. It's always difficult when you're in it, but once you see the speck of light at the end of the tunnel, all it can do is get bigger."
I look forward to whatever Tunde does next both inside and outside of the Peloton community.
I received an advanced digital copy of this book from NetGalley for review purposes, but all opinions are my own.
Tunde’s memoir is passionate, interesting and inspirational. My favorite parts were hearing about her Peloton experience and I wish we had gotten more of that in the book. The ending was a bit abrupt but I found the book overall to be enjoyable and easy to read.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've been anticipating this memoir since Tunde announced its impending release, and I'm so happy that I was able to read an advanced copy. Like many others, I bought a Peloton in 2020. Tunde was one of the instructors that I gravitated toward first, particularly since she also grew up in the Houston area. From that first class onward, Tunde became one of my go-to instructors. Her energy, attitude, and experience is just so powerful, and she helps me become a better, stronger, and more intuitive person.
I had been introduced to bits and pieces of her story through her classes and Instagram account, but this book opened the door a bit wider to understand how the people, life events, and personal shifts led to the Tunde that I see staring back on my Peloton screen. She uses the word "speak" literally, but also as an acronym that represents surrender, power, empathy, authenticity, and knowledge. It's through these key tenants that she shares her story and provides bits of wisdom and encouragement for readers to takeaway and apply to their own lives.
Reading about her relationships, career, life experiences, joy, heartache, wins, and losses made me smile, laugh, gasp, shake my head, shed a few tears, and finally, cheer. I normally stray away from memoirs or books that shove lots of regurgitated, generic motivational quotes at the reader, but Tunde's book is far from that. It's unique and deeply personal, and I think many people will take something insightful away from their time spent with it. I know that I certainly did.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for the advanced reader copy!
Words cannot even begin to express how honored I was to be selected to read an ARC of Tunde’s book. I fan girled so hard when I got selected! It did not disappoint.
When you think of this genre of books like Rachel Hollis, Mel Robbins, etc. you sometimes go “yeah yeah whatever, it worked for you but not me. You don’t know my struggles.” Don’t get me wrong I was on the Hollis bandwagon for awhile myself but the intent was not pure. It was scripted. It was unrealistic.
My first peloton bike ride was Tunde. I heard she was one of the hardest but the best. I took a 90s ride, one where she tried to bring that sideways hat back and I fell in love. I was never a spin class girl. The moment I hit play it all changed.
I truly felt Tunde when I was taking one of her infamous arms and light weights classes. She talked about being big and loosing 70 lbs. looking at her arms alone I was like there’s no way this girl used to be who I am currently. But she was. She was vulnerable. She was raw. She was true.
The minute I found out she wrote a book I HAD to read it. The way Tunde wrote this book is truly the most authentic way I have ever read. She makes you believe in yourself in a realistic way. An obtainable way. Authenticity. Empathy. Power. Surender. Power.
I don’t think I’ll ever read another book in this genre quite like this. Mad props Tunde. By just being you, you’ve touched lives. You’ve awakened a dormant side of me. You inspired me. All with your words. Never stop speaking.
I highly recommend this book to every one. It is meant for everyone. Truly.
Full disclaimer: I am a Peloton rider and I already loved Tunde before picking up this book, however, I still very much enjoyed reading about Tunde's life and her journey to becoming a Peloton instructor. I already knew bits and pieces about Tunde from taking her classes and following her on social media, but this book gave me more insight into the struggles and what she has overcome to get to where she is today and it made me like her even more. Side note: at the end of her acknowledgement, she thanks her dog Cesar and I thought that was adorable.
Wow this was such an eye opening and inspiring read. I didn't really know much about Tunde besides what I know from taking her classes on Peloton, but I loved getting to know her more. Her struggles with weight, and being happy as she is was so relatable. The story of her rise in the makeup industry and the struggle to decide to change careers after achieving success was so inspiring. I related so hard to her tight knit family and leaving them behind to enjoy a life outside of your hometown. I highlighted so many passages to come back to when I need to reflect. I felt so inspired while reading and will definitely be continuing to take classes with Tunde in the future!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 5/3!
Thank you to Netgalley, Avid Reader Press, and Tunde for this ARC - out everywhere 3 May!
I hardly ever pick up "self-help/motivational" books. I don't know if it's my stubborn side that refuses to acknowledge that someone else may have figured out their life better than I have, or if it's because I hate feeling like someone is kneeling down to my level with their hands on their knees and condescendingly listing all the ways I could be "more."
99% of why I decided to put all that aside and pick this up, is because I am firmly, squarely rooted in the Peloton cult. We bought one within the first month of the lockdown in the DC-area, when it became clear that we would (be privileged enough) to not have leave our home for months. I had never taken a spin class before. I had certainly never bought something as expensive as a Peloton bike before. It's stupid to say it was life-changing, but I absolutely believe that in my case, it was one of the only matchsticks holding up my mental health for the next year. And Tunde's classes were part of that.
Promotions for the book call it a "memoir-manifesto-guide," but go into it expecting it to be 80% memoir, which worked for me. Tunde covers everything from the untimely death of her 19 year old brother, to her reaction to the BLM protests in 2020, to her efforts to try and reckon her weight and fitness with the unrealistic standards of beauty growing up in Texas. The Peloton praise is THICK in this book (a little smothering even for a believer like me), so if you're not into the brand then I imagine this could be grating. But if you do own one, or are at least net-neutral in your opinion of it, then it'll be fine.
Read If You:
-- Routinely cry during workouts
-- Think Michelle Obama's arms are the holy grail
-- Wish you had more non-white/non-male examples of being successful after deviating from the traditional educational and career path.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC.. I will say i was not familiar with Tunde because i dont really follow peloton and stuff but this cover caught my eye. As a huge memoir reader i love to read memoirs even if im not familiar with the person because as you read you get to know the person better. The cover was so pretty! Tunde is GLOWING in this cover and so i requested it and im glad i did because this was such an amazing memoir very vulnerable and uplifting for people who need some words of encouragement. I loved all the chapters and vulnerability about her family it was very nice to read about brother her mother her father just growing up etc she put such vulnerability into this memoir. One thing i love about memoirs is when you know its coming from the heart and pouring everything into a story. I also loved the stories she told in this story about tons of different things when she worked in makeup etc. Also while reading this book i could just tell Tunde has such a good energy about her it seriously was so nice to read im glad i read this and got to learn and read about her. She has a heart of gold from the stories shes shared. One of my favorite chapters was the Speak Up chapter it was very needed with everything going on in todays world.
Thank you for being so vulnerable and writing this book Tunde it was great.
Speak by Tunde Oyeneyin
I have been a Peloton rider (read: addict) for almost 2 years and love everything about it! I have taken a few classes with Tunde but more recently began an arm challenge made up of Tunde’s arms and light weights classes. I was so excited to be able to preview her upcoming book. I really enjoyed reading Tunde’s story. I felt like I got to know her better, not just as a Peloton instructor, but as a person, as Tunde.
First, I’ll state the obvious: I love Peloton so I was so excited to have the chance to read Tunde Oyeneyin’s motivational memoir. I knew a little of her story and wanted to learn more and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Right off the bat, Tunde explains the five pillars of SPEAK, her mantra for life: Surrender, Power, Empathy, Authenticity, and Knowledge. The chapters that follow aren’t in chronological or acronym order, but each are tagged with the pillar that corresponds with the life story she’s about to reveal. For the most part, this worked well, although there were a few chapters that I wished had been placed earlier in the narrative. SPEAK is most powerful when Tunde is most vulnerable, specifically when she’s talking about her family or her experiences as a Black woman. Personally, I also really enjoyed her revelations about her not so smooth path to Peloton. I struggled a bit with some of the chapters centering on relationships as they didn’t have quite the “aha” moment that some of the others chapters included.
Overall, there’s an overarching vibe of extreme positivity/belief in oneself amongst vignettes of loss or struggle that motivates the reader to keep finding his/her purpose in life despite any perceived setbacks. Tunde is strong and vulnerable and determined and I think any reader would find nuggets of wisdom in Speak.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for the advance electronic copy in exchange for an honest review.
It’s no secret I love my peloton. And I love books. So when I saw Tunde was coming out with a book, I HAD TO HAVE IT!
This book goes through her life from being an over weight child, to growing up and moving away from home, to dealing with loss and life. I learned so much about Tunde in this book and loved all the insights she had to share.
I loved seeing how she got her role at peloton and who had a part in her journey.
The book radiated Tunde, it felt very much full of life, energy, and feelings, and I just adored it. It made me love Tunde that much more.
