I am peloton obsessed and I LOVE Tunde. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book since I honestly wasn't sure what insight she would have to offer, but I realized I knew hardly anything about her so I figured it would be interesting. It sure was! I love feeling like I know her so much better now and I enjoy taking her classes even more than I did before! She shares a lot of relatable life lessons mixed in with her own life story. She was very honest and it was an enjoyable, quick read.
I love Tunde! Her story is incredible and I’ve always been inspired by her workouts on Peloton. Getting to hear her words was a true gift, as she is a remarkable writer and motivational woman. Thank you!
This is an inspirational memoir with pithy sayings.Oyeneyin follows her dreams to get fit and become a top Peloton cycling instructor. I wish there had been more on that phase and how she kept at it in detail, but she kind of glosses over everything with a can do attitude. Overall an interesting quick read stressing empathy, family and following your dreams.

Thank you Netgalley and Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster an advance copy of Speak: Find Your Voice, Trust Your Gut, and Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to be by Tunde Oyeneyin.
I love my Peloton and when I saw that Tunde had written a book and I could request it on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance. I was so excited when I was approved for the advanced copy I was thrilled.
Although Speak is not my typical genre, I was excited to see what Tunde had to say. When I read the description, I thought it would be a motivational self-help book, while there are plenty of phrases and steps to improve our life, I found the book was more of a memoir.
I loved reading about Tunde’s life. I knew some of the things from taking Peloton rides with her but some things I did not. I immediately could hear her saying everything she wrote out loud and loved that I could hear her voice while reading. I connected to her especially when she was discussing body image. I have struggled with my body image in the last few years, and I loved her take on what I should do and plan to use that going forward.
Even if you have not road the bike to nowhere, I think you would enjoy this book.
Speak captivated me from begining to end. Learning about Tunde in all of her various facets of life was informative and inspiring. I really enjoyed how vulnerable and raw this book was with regards to her career struggles and following her dreams. This read did an incredible job of lifting the curtain on many issues that women and people of color face every day. I was parcitularly moved by the retelling of Tunde's Speak Up Peloton class and what her thought process was going into that conversation and how she navigated such a difficult but necessary topic during her class. I laughed a lot, I was moved to sadness and pain, and I felt inspired and recognized. What an incredible read! I’m hoping this comes out on audio with narration by the author because I will certainly read it again it does!
I absolutely LOVED this book. I have never felt so EMPOWERED after reading something than I do now. I was emotional. I was ecstatic. I was blown away. Every chapter. Every sentence. Every word. If it was acceptable to highlight an entire book, this is a book that would make me do it. I think everyone needs to read this. And I think the world needs more Tunde. Thank you for your words.
I literally couldn’t put this book down from the moment I picked it up. Tunde literally is inspiration. From peloton I have always been so inspired by her. But to now know her whole life story. What brought her to peloton. What Inspired her, pushed her, and changed her. Literally couldn’t put this down until I was done. Then I wanted more. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As an avid user of the Peloton platform and a fan of Tunde's, I was thrilled to be selected for an ARC of this book. I turn to Tunde often for inspiration and motivation. Speak, Tunde's forthcoming book, did not disappoint. Her story is one of triumph, of overcoming adversity, of finding your path and accepting your destiny. It's trusting your instincts and finding the courage to change. I will recommend this book to anyone who needs a reminder too embrace their power.
Man I’m not even sure I have the words for this book! When I was GIVEN the chance to review Speak by Tunde Oyeneyin though #netgalley I was SO EXCITED!! I have had a peloton bike for just over a year now and @tune2tunde quickly became one of my favorites. Riding with Tunde is much like reading her book was! You get to feel like you know her and that she would want to know you. Her book (like her rides) are full of Tunde-isms. Words of wisdom or reminders that you are so worthy! Encouragement, motivation, words of a friend! Getting to know more of her life story, her family and how she came to be the amazing woman that she is was fantastic! I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to get to know her though her words —both in this book and on my Peloton. #speak #tundeoyeneyin #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookreview #memoir #peloton
First of all, how radiant and gorgeous is this cover? The day I received the advanced reader copy of Speak by Tunde Oyeneyin, coming to shelves near you in May, I started reading and finished less than 24 hours later. I want to read it again already.
I'm a Peloton rider - like many people, Peloton changed my life (and body) in 2020. For an hour a day on the bike, I was taken out of my apartment in LA and put back into a cycling studio with an instructor who felt like a friend, bootcamp coach and motivational speaker - this is Tunde.
I loved reading her story and learning about the experiences that make her the dynamic and fierce woman we know on the bike. There's tales of family, work, relationships, love, loss, tragedy, her journey at Peloton, and a reflection on her moving and pivotal Speak Up ride (a class attended by 22,000 live riders in aftermath of the murder of George Floyd in 2020). I had chills the entire chapter - a major wow moment. Throughout everything, there are nuggets of wisdom... naturally, I highlighted many of them, but you'll just have to read the book and absorb them in your own way.
You don't need to be a Peloton rider to appreciate SPEAK. The five key pillars of the book that correspond to each chapter are: Surrender, Power, Empathy, Authenticity and Knowledge (it's an acronym, people!). I think we could all use and acknowledge these pillars a bit more in our lives, so the book is truly for everyone.
An immense THANK YOU to Avid Reader Press for the ARC of SPEAK - it was an honor to read. Thank you to Tunde for everything you do and for everything you are and for sharing your wisdom and journey with us, on the bike and in this book. You inspire me. You are incredible! P.S. I'll be waiting on the story of how you won that Ford Focus in the next book.
Speak (genre: memoir/self-help)
Rating: loved
Thank you @avidreaderpress and @netgalley for the gifted advance copy in exchange for an honest review. This book comes out May 3! Full review on bookstagram to come.
I finished this book 24 hours after being approved for it on netgalley - I was stoked to be approved for this one! I love Peloton and @tune2tunde is my favorite instructor - she was the instructor for the first class I ever clipped into (I saw her smile and thought she seemed to sweet to be too difficult - boy did I learn quickly how wrong I was!!), and I was hooked.
I loved getting to know Tunde more and reading about her background. Lots of fun facts were included- she's besties with an American Idol contestant, appeared on a reality TV game show, and had an amazing career as a makeup artist! While this book is a combination memoir and self help, it was more about sharing her journey of being comfortable in her skin and being true to herself. This style worked for me and was a good balance between the two genres, as I'm not typically a self help book reader.
The first chapter talks about her weight loss journey & diet culture in America, but after that the focus moves to her professional life and personal relationships. Tunde always stresses this journey wasn't about what she lost about what she gained, and that sentiment is reinforced here with how she focuses on her story. In fact, I would've been interested to learn more of her fitness journey - her arms are seriously goals!
This book had some really great highlightable lines without being too over the top (goal setting versus standard setting really resonated with me), and I've always found her to be motivational. For someone that's experienced so much loss and hardship, her outlook is so refreshing and positive. Learning and growing to be self aware, Tunde shares how she was able to reframe her perspective/outlook, lean into uncertainty and the path it takes you down, and that ultimately, happiness is our own responsibility. I personally believe that you attract the energy you put into the universe, and this book had the same mindset. That being said, while the nonlinear timeline worked well in this book, some of the later chapters about her parents might have been even more impactful to the reader if they had been more towards the middle of the story, rather than the end.
I saw on Tunde's insta stories that she's reading the audiobook, so I think this would make an excellent audiobook, as well! Can't recommend this book enough!
I first “met” Tunde on the bike, I loved her arms, I felt like she radiated strength. I would jump on my bike when I needed an extra push physically and/or mentally.
I loved reading Speak by Tunde Oyeneyin. Whether you are a peloton rider or not, you will find this book enjoyable, relatable, and inspiring. This book felt like hearing a friend’s stories. SPEAK standing for surrender, power, empathy, authenticity, and knowledge. She explains each of these with examples from her life and what she learned in each situation. Tunde truly shows that if you want something with all of you, you are in charge of going after it. It could be weight loss or a career change but it’s on you to chase it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
4+ stars
Let me start by saying that I am not a big reader of memoirs as I tend to stick to mysteries and thrillers. That said, I completely enjoyed Speak by Tunde Oyeneyin. I am a Peloton user and fan and while reading I could hear Tunde's voice in my head (I think this would be an excellent audio book).
There were so many passages that I highlighted to go back and reflect on later. I highly recommend this book.
See you on the bike Tunde!
I enjoyed this part memoir/part self help book. I enjoyed Tunde's story. I found this to be fine overall. I am confused on everyone needing a memoir in their life, but that seems to be the new thing.
I already loved Tunde before reading this book, but now I have even more respect and admiration for her! She’s incredibly strong and has an amazing presence, even in written form. She makes you want to be better, lose the excuses, and step up to who you want to be just by associating with her.
I found the last chapter that ended with the story of her mother truly touching and yet so heartbreaking. A very powerful read.
I hope that the print edition shows photos of her with her family, of her conducting her Speak Up ride, of her short hairstyle and so on. ❤️
Thank you for this ARC copy, I really enjoyed it and highly recommend that everyone pick this up!
Tunde Oyeneyin is a powerhouse of a woman. She is a true inspiration both on and off of the bike and I’m so grateful to have read this. I found myself highlighting different parts that resonated with me. Rest assured I’m going to be using the sales rack comparison for my students!
Speak will illustrate how Tunde lives, reinforced through stories of her past. You will be amazed at her strength and determination, in awe of her vulnerability and inspired to take charge of your own life. Her rides will be more meaningful to me as a reader and a Peloton rider.
Thank you to Netgalley and Avid Reader Press for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review! I will be posting my review on 2/27/22 on IG.
I’m a huuuuge peloton fan and love Tunde so I was really excited to read this. Tunde shares anecdotes from her youth to today, sharing everything from weight struggles, her auditions for Peloton to her Speak up rides supporting Black Lives Matter. This was quick and enjoyable and I liked getting to know Tunde better- she’s a total badass!
