I really should've known better than to judge a book by its cover, but I really couldn't help that this book looked so cute.

This book is a romance book, yes. But at its core it's more so about STEM and empowering women to go into science, tech, engineering and mathematics based fields. Bel doesn't think she has what it takes to do engineering. She enjoys it but she can't imagine doing it as a job or what she could do in the future. This book was quite empowering, showing that girls do belong in STEM. I loved the steminist message.

But while I loved the women's empowerment in this book, a few things fell a bit flat for me. For starters, it took me a while to get into this book. I mainly blame writing style for this and I felt like I got used to the writing style too late to really absorb the story. Not to mention, the physics and engineering jargon. Because Bel and Teo talked (and flirted) in engineering and robotics terms, I struggled to understand a lot of things due to my complete and utter lack of understanding of anything physics related.

I think it was mainly due to the physics banter that it took me a while to get into the relationship of this book which was a shame because this book got me cheesy grinning at the end. There were times when I was questioning if I was shipping them or not because there were things Bel and Teo were doing that I sort of raised an eyebrow about. I'm glad they communicated and helped fix things together.

All in all, a cute book but the writing style got the better of me at times.

It was just very YA, too much for me. Maybe for the people it was intended to read it might be a good read, but it didn't work for me personally.

Ya romance has a soft spot in my heart and that too by the author i absolutely adore is a superb combination.
Initially the pace was quite slow but it picked up the pace towards end. The characters were well penned and their interactions were something that kept me smiling and giggling throughout the book. Love the nerd and romance vibes in this.

I truly enjoyed this YA rom-com with academic rivals in a stem environment. It’s fast-paced, fun and filled with relatable and lovable characters that will make you laugh and root for them. It was truly immersive and different from what this author usually writes.

I enjoyed this story. Academic rival to lovers has always been one of my favourite tropes and this book did not disappoint.

Thank you NetGalley for this book!
Such a fun lighthearted book with such a cute story line. The characters worked really well through their personalities and I was pining for them to get together the whole book. I absolutely adored how the romance was portrayed in this book (my favourite part being where he memorised Taylor Swift for her). Such a cute and heartwarming read. I really do recommend.

Robots + romance? YES PLEASE! I absolutely adored this contemporary romance where Bel is not only trying to understand what she wants but is besting all boys in the robotics club she accidentally found herself a part of.

I loved the dual POVs between her and Teo and the very carefully crafted portrayal of women in STEM.

Fun, hilarious and quirky. A must read of the summer!

LISTENN this was the definition of adorable. Women in stem, THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY!! This was so light and so fun, such a welcome reprieve from some of the heavier stuff, but this also gave such a beautiful pov of young love i was enamored with these two!!

Bel 👩‍🔧👩‍💻👩‍🚀

“You don’t have to make the world perfect just so people will love you,”
El libro empieza con una Bel que no le da importancia a su inteligencia, que sabe que es buena estudiante. Pero se reprime, me encanta que al final del libro vez como florece.
“honestly? physics is easy. “what's hard is feeling like I want to be invisible all the time.”
"If I want the world to recognize what I am truly capable of, I have to show them."🥽🥼⚙🔧💻💡👩‍🔧👩‍🚀👨‍🔬👩‍💻

What a refreshing YA read!
I'm a huge fan of YA, that's no secret. However it's not very often I read a book with STEM representation to this scale. The detail in the story makes all the difference. Thanks to Bel and Teo I felt like learned a thing or two about making robots. Their journey through the last year of high school brings back feelings and memories long forgotten. This was a great read. Shortened by my inability to put it down.
A great read for anyone entering their last year of high school and struggling with those all too familiar feelings of indecisiveness. It will spark imagination and inspiration alike.
Plus hello! Robot wars!

It was extremely ya, and not in a good way. I wish I could say I liked this, but that is simply not true.

Fun cute YA novel with a STEM focus. Quick read, engaging and entertaining. I enjoyed the dual POV. You could feel the stress of senior year coming through the narrative.
It was great to see a main character have a definable arc and see real life situations that occur with women in STEM.

Engaging and cute.

I loved «My Mechanical Romance» from the very start. It was a fast read, funny all throughout the book and with two incredible adorable main characters. However, I think its true power lays within Bel, its protagonist, a young woman who encapsulates the angst and fear of uncertainty when a person reaches their last highschool years. I felt right there with her and specially the feeling of being left behind, not knowing what one wants to do in the next step.

That, along with the STEM enviroment and the chemistry between Bel and Teo made «My Mechanical Romance» a novel I just didn't want to put down. Bel did seem a bit naive at times and I wish we got to see more of her live before Esex, but I enjoyed it a lot nevertheless.

I would be lying if the title didn’t draw me in. It reminded me of MCR. This is definitely your nerdy meets romance kinda novel. It was a quick read that is a nice break from your serious chonky novels.
