I just love friends to lovers especially when one has having feelings they don't share cause they don't want to ruin their relationship. But when the other person is actually interested, things get interesting.
They are both trying to find their place in the world and in their worlds.
I loved how they re-evaluated their happiness and went on different paths for happiness. Your family can want what they want for you life but it is your life and you have to live it.
Jack was so sweet and the best friend not even sharing his feelings even when she thinks it's one sided and she forced it on him. So long alone with his feelings it took him awhile to process.
Thank you stmartinspress and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
What a wonderful summer romance! Lizzie and Jack have been friends since they were 10 years old. It is now 20 years later...Lizzie is a driven, hard-working lawyer in LA and Jack handles the business side of his family's brewery. The book is predictable and formulaic and I did not care in the least. It is beautifully written with realistic characters and an enjoyable plot. It was a fast read and I enjoyed every page.
This book was very sweet and enjoyable. The writting is great, and I will for sure be looking for other books from Jayci Lee.
The friends to lover slow burn is fantastically done, and while the misunderstanding is inevitable and frustrating, things wrap up nicely so it is forgivable.
The characters are enjoyable, with some great banter. It was clear from early on what Lizzy would end up doing, and I did get frustrated when it took her forever to realize it.. but her situation was understandable.
Lots of delicious food bits, which I always enjoy!
Definitely a romance novel I would recommend for anyone who enjoys the friends to lovers trope.
Your average rom-com. It was a good, quick read, and doesn't stray too far from the typical. Again, I would say that this book is fun to read, but I don't think I will remember much of it as it doesn't stand out from the crowd.
I really wanted to love this one; I just couldn't. Books and best-friends-to-lovers are normally the perfect recipe for a rom-com but this story spent all its time in the wrong places. Lizzy and Jack, said best friends, have been crushing on each other for years and of course they've never acted on it (frustrating part #1 because this leads to miscommunication tropes all over the place). When Lizzy, an ambitious lawyer, needs to take a break from life in the big city, she returns to her hometown to spend some time with Jack and clear her mind. While there, Lizzy takes it upon herself to help the local bookshop owner renovate her store to bring back business (frustrating part #2 because every time I read a scene where they were working in the store, I felt like I was also forced into manual labor, it was tedious). Anyways, Lizzy and Jack spend time together, finally admit their feelings, miscommunicate, separate, find out who they're meant to be along the way, the end (frustrating part #3 because there was really not a lot going on here). I wish the story would have delved deeper into Lizzy and Jack's characters and their relationship to each other. A romance is never fun when the main characters are in love just because.
2/5 Stars. Thank you, Netgalley, for the eARC.
A solid 3 star romance! Lizzy thinks she’s got her life figured out. She’s working her “dream job” and had her best friend Jack. But Lizzy isn’t really living. She decided to take a vacation from work and spend time in her hometown. 3 weeks of volunteering at a local
Bookstore, and spending more time with Jack has her questioning what she really wants out of her life. She’s tired of living just to please her mother.
Jack wants more than to just work at his families brewery, he wants to make a life of his own.
As these two realize what they really want out of their lives, they also start to acknowledge the feelings that have been there all along. Can 20 years of friendship really turn into a relationship? Can they risk that?
A cute closed door romance!
Thank you Netgalley for this eARC!
I did not read the first two books in this series, so this was my first by this author. This was a cute friends to lovers romance. I wish there was a little more character depth, so I had a hard time thinking about who Lizzy and Jack were as people. It was a little slow to start, but got better as I kept reading. Still enjoyable!
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc. All opinions are my own.
This book was fine but definitely not for me. I requested it on Netgalley because it sounded interesting to me as a bookstore lover, but there were no warnings that there would be sexual content. I ended up having to skim the majority of the second half of the book to get through it. The ending felt entirely unrealistic for reasons I won't explain to avoid spoilers. The characters were charming enough for the most part. There were also several parts where I didn't enjoy the writing because it felt scattered, the character actions felt inconsistent, etc. Definitely not for me.
ayci Lee's romcom Booked on a Feeling features an overachieving lawyer. A failing bookstore. A childhood friend. And the chance of a lifetime…
Lizzy "Overachiever" Chung, Esq. has her life mapped out neatly:
* Become a lawyer. Check.
* Join a prestigious law firm. Check.
* Make partner. In progress.
If all goes to plan, she will check off that last box in a couple years, make her parents proud, and live a successful, fulfilled life in L.A. What was not in her plans was passing out from a panic attack during a pivotal moment in her career. A few deep breaths and a four hour drive later, Lizzy is in Weldon for three weeks to shed the burnout and figure out what went wrong. And what better place to recharge than the small California town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park.
Jack Park didn't expect to see Lizzy back in Weldon, but now he's got three weeks to spend with the girl of his dreams. Except she doesn't know of his decades-long crush on her--and he intends to keep it that way. She's a high-powered attorney who lives in L.A. and he's a bookkeeper at his family's brewery who never left his hometown. He can't risk their friendship on a long shot. Can he? When Lizzy decides that the local bookstore needs a little revamp, of course, Jack is going to help her bring it back to life. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore there might be more than just friendship among the dusty shelves and books...
Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along.
Jayci Lee's latest book Booked on a Feeling features an overachieving lawyer. A failing bookstore and a childhood friend. This was an easy read, a cute story that was filled with romance. This is the third installment I did not read the first two books Lee provides that cozy feeling you are looking for in a chic lit book. This is not a strong book no big storyline and the characters for me were a little weak.
Lizzy Chung needs a break from her demanding and high-stress life as a corporate lawyer in LA, so focused on crossing items off of her to-do list for a successful life, she is losing herself in the process. Lizzy flees to the small town of Weldon for a few weeks to relax and spend time with her best friend since childhood, Jack Park. Jack is working as a bookkeeper for his family's brewery, and is feeling lost and out of place. He longs for a life lived on his own terms, almost as much as he longs for his best friend Lizzy - but he would never risk their friendship for a fleeting romance. When Lizzy volunteers to fix up a local bookstore in Weldon, she enlists Jack to help, and sparks fly as they spend more and more time together.
This book was sweet and comforting, perfect to pick up when you are looking for a quick and easy read. Reading a childhood friends-to-lovers book is always heartwarming, and Booked on a Feeling was no exception. I also love books set in bookstores...! I loved the strong basis of friendship between the main characters.
Thanks St Martin's Press and #NetGalley for the arc!
I am a sucker for checking things off the list and really related to the main character. I could really picture the bookstore with how Jayci described it. If it was real I would love to be there! Booked on a feeling was a great read!
Jack has been secretly in love with his best friend Lizzy for 2 decades. After Lizzy wins her first trial in LA she doesn’t feel as excited about the win as she should, so she decides she needs a break. She surprises Jack by renting a place for three weeks above a bookstore in his small town of Weldon, where Jack helps run his family owned brewery. To help fill time she volunteers to help the failing bookstore redecorate, and of course Jack volunteers to help as well. As they spend more time together something magically develops. What does fate have in store for them?
What I loved:
▪️ The bookstore. I love that it’s based on books and reading, big plus from this book snob 🤣
▪️ The mental health rep. Panic attacks is something that’s rarely represented in romance books and we need more of this.
▪️The Family Dynamics. I loved learning about Korean family culture. So enjoyable.
What I didn’t Like:
▪️Both Lizzy and Jack seemed very immature for their ages. I kept having to remind myself they were adults.
▪️Lizzy going from zero attraction to full on lust for Jack threw things off for me. It all seemed a bit off.
▪️Jack’s insecurities and low self esteem threw off the chemistry between them. Once they were together it all seemed a bit awkward and clunky. It was like friends playing house.
The saving grace for me was the bookstore part and her friendship with Shannon, otherwise I struggled with the romance part. I didn’t get absorbed in the romance the way I would have like to.
Thank you to @netgalley for providing me with an #arc for my honest review. Hopefully by next week I’ll be caught up on all my arcs!
Are you looking for a cute romance book with a friends to lovers trope? Look no further! Booked on a feeling is the third book in the "A Sweet Mess" series, I read it without reading the other books and had no problems at all! Lizzie and Jack have known each other since they were little, they are best friends; but Jack is secretly in love with Lizzy! He doesn’t feel good enough for her and doesn’t want to ruin their relationship. This book was really good, it got slow at some parts but over all I recommend it!
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee.

Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along. (Goodreads synopsis)
I have not read a novel by Jayci Lee before this one.
I don’t normally read romance novels. I’m a mood reader and very rarely does romance settle my mood. When I read the synopsis, I thought it sounded like a good friends to lovers with a bit of humor. However, the sense of humour seemed to be missing and I realized I didn’t laugh out loud at all. I might have cracked a smile at how ridiculous Jack and Lizzie acted, but I didn’t laugh.
The writing was good, and everything flowed very well. Lizzie’s panic attacks and love for books was extremely relatable. But for someone so smart, it just seemed too difficult to believe that she wouldn’t recognize how much Jack loves her. Especially since she is such a lover of romance books. Jack was a little harder to relate to, because he seemed to have no self-esteem. Despite so many people telling him how amazing he was, he never seemed to believe it. Over the course of the novel, the lack of proper dialogue between Lizzie and Jack was irritating.
Overall I rate this novel 3 out of 5 stars.
Very enjoyable. Friends to lovers. Lots of Bookstore feels- any book lover will be fantasizing about quoting their jobs and owning their own bookstore. also, some Romance novel Meta moments. 2/5 spicy- fade to black. The food descriptions were mouthwatering and the main characters delightful!
Read very YA in my opinion, which made the spicy scenes a little off. I just don’t think this was the book for me, but see how it could be appealing to some
Are you a sucker for a childhood friends-to- lovers? Can’t get enough of those indie bookstore, small town vibes? Sweet and simple, Booked on a Feeling, delivers as a quick and cozy comfort read. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for my gifted ARC.
Books about books have been really popular this year and I certainly have read a lot of them! This is why I think I didn't love this one as much as I expected to. I think I had just hit my quota on books about books. The book starts very slowly and was hard to get hooked and get the motivation to continue to read it. I was pushing myself through the first 100 or so pages. I also think part of my problem was that this book plays into my least favorite trope ever -- the miscommunication trope. Honestly, it is a complete lack of communication, but that is what this story is banking on to survive. I think this could be the perfect book for some people, it's cute and fluffy, unfortunately, it couldn't be that book for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for the Arc in exchange for a honest review.
This was a cute story, and I think that rom-com lovers are going to enjoy it. I didn't feel completely connected with the characters, and I would have liked to see a bit more out of their development, but overall, it's a good story. I do wish I would have known this was part of a series. I think I may have enjoyed the story more, however, I do think this can be read as a standalone.
