I thought this one was adorable and sweet! I loved how this book revolved around romance novels and sparks flew between the two main characters in my favorite of places - a book store! I LOVE a romance that starts from when they were kids as best friends and turns into a once in a life time love - since that's what I've experienced in my own relationship and marriage with my husband. Swooned over that!! Overall, it was adorable! I wish the characters had more depth and believability, but my biggest gripe was that it felt a little more of a YA than an adult romcom.
Lizzy is a successful attorney who just won a big case, but she doesn't find any joy in her victory. Despite her firm being proud of her and offering additional work, she abruptly takes a three-week vacation to visit her friend Jack in his hometown. As they spend time together, their relationship becomes more romantic overtime, but it gave me YA novel vibes very strongly. I'm a sucker for cartoon covers, so I find the cover to be very cute, but this just wasn't for me.
3.5/5
I really enjoyed this bookish romance book! I loved the small town setting, the friends to lovers troupe, the bookstore scenes and the chemistry between Jack and Lizzy. I especially liked their family but didn’t necessarily love how much Lizzy’s mom tried to control her life. Lizzy’s friend that owned the bookstore in the small town made me so happy and I’m so glad they ran into each other. Not giving this book a 4 star review because of the 3rd act breakup.
I would definitely read another book by this author and this was a great palette cleanser rom com book!
i've read some of this series and enjoyed this one. It's a bookstore romance book! and second chance, and I liked it a lot.
Booked on a Feeling was the mushy romcom I needed to get me out of my reading slump!
This book gave so many feel good emotions as our two main characters slowly realize that their friendship is turning into something so much more. Friends to Lovers is one of those tropes that I really can’t get enough of and this book brought it in the best way. The slow realization followed by two very different reactions was just the absolute best.
This is definitely what I would consider a soft romance. The characters have a very sweet romance and the spice level is mild. Overall a book I definitely enjoyed!
Really struggled to get into this. Felt like the writing was very surface level and we didn't get much insight into the characters' motivations. I think this book was missing a lot of depth.
Lizzy Chung is an overachiever. What was not in her plans was passing out from a panic attack during a pivotal moment in her career. Lizzy decides to take a break and spend three weeks in the small California town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park. Jack Park didn't expect to see Lizzy back in Weldon, but now he's got three weeks to spend with the girl of his dreams. Except she doesn't know of his decades-long crush on her--and he intends to keep it that way. He can't risk their friendship on a long shot. Can he? When Lizzy decides that the local bookstore needs a little revamp, of course, Jack is going to help her bring it back to life. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore there might be more than just friendship among the dusty shelves and books...
This book was okay. It was slow at first and a bit boring, but things got a bit better. Jack was a great character. He really cared about Lizzy. However, I didn't like how he's been pining for so long, while Lizzy has no feelings for him, but then out of no where she does? There was no build-up or growth in their relationship to go from friends-to-lovers. I think they were better off as just friends. However, I did like the bookish parts of the book, like renovating the local bookstore. The side chracters were also funny. Overall, this book was okay but, fell short as a romace.
I absolutely adored this book!
It was well written, and i never wanted to put it down! It hooks you and keeps you hooked! It was very swoon-worthy!

Lizzy "Overachiever" Chung, Esq. has her life mapped out neatly:
* Become a lawyer. Check.
* Join a prestigious law firm. Check.
* Make partner. In progress.
If all goes to plan, she will check off that last box in a couple years, make her parents proud, and live a successful, fulfilled life in L.A. What was not in her plans was passing out from a panic attack during a pivotal moment in her career. A few deep breaths and a four hour drive later, Lizzy is in Weldon for three weeks to shed the burnout and figure out what went wrong. And what better place to recharge than the small California town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park.
Jack Park didn't expect to see Lizzy back in Weldon, but now he's got three weeks to spend with the girl of his dreams. Except she doesn't know of his decades-long crush on her--and he intends to keep it that way. She's a high-powered attorney who lives in L.A. and he's a bookkeeper at his family's brewery who never left his hometown.
Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along.
Thoughts :
It's okay, I guess? Not a fan of this book due to some annoying things. It's pretty much predictable and sadly, it's just not for me. It's a friends-to-lovers book that didn't work for me.
Thank you Netgalley for the early copy!
If you’re in the mood for a quick, cute romcom read I’d suggest BOOKED ON A FEELING. This is the third in Jayci Lee’s A Sweet Mess series and all have been fun reads.
While there’s nothing necessarily unique and the books are a bit predictable, they are great palette cleansing reads with adorable characters. Bonus points to this story as it involves the MC revamping a bookstore. Who doesn’t love reading about books within books!?
WOW, just WOW 🤩

i’m not usually a fan of friends to lovers, it’s just not my favorite trope, but this one was different. i loved this cute little weldon story. the characters were relatable and fun, and i was so happy to get little tidbits about the other characters from weldon that i already love 💗
if you’re looking for a good romance series with good character development and fun relationships, look no further than weldon! 3.5/4 ⭐️ || 2/5 🌶
Thank you Netgalley for the e-ARC of this title. I enjoyed reading this title. Would recommend for my library.
Such a cute story! Anything to do with books and romance? Count me in! The cover grabbed my attention and I stayed for the story!
Sadly this book wasn't for me. I felt as though both of the main characters just orbited around each other without anything really happening. I almost DNFed it multiple times but was able to finish out of sheer determination. I cant really say who I would recommend this book too but maybe someone who wants a very low stakes romance story.
I loved this book. I love anything in a bookstore setting. especially when the MFC decides to take time off of work and gets a job in a bookstore and we watch her help the owner fix up the store and get more customers. At that exact time, she is back in town with her best friend whom they have both liked each other since they were little. He wants to move where she is and is interviewing for jobs near her and she just wants to return to her hometown and escape the stressful life of being a lawyer. will they be able to come together and work it out?
Lizzy and Jack have been best friends forever. When Lizzy wins her first case as the lead lawyer, she decides she's burnt out and heads to Jack's hometown to rest and recoup. While there she meets her new landlord who happens to own the bookshop under her apartment. She takes on the project of fixing the place up -after all, she's only ever wanted to own a bookstore. It was her mother's dream for her to become a lawyer.
I loved the Korean representation and the food descriptions all sound amazing!!
I think I would have liked a little more resolution to Lizzy's relationship with her mother in particular. A few other loose ends were left too but the happily ever after was a bonus!
I love this series!!!
Lizzy just won a huge case however she up and decides to take a 3 week vacation.
She heads to her long time friend, Jack's hometown.
Jack sees this as his chance.
His chance to spend 3 weeks with his crush, the one who got away.
The 2 of them decide to revamp the local bookstore while trying to ignore what is between them.
I just reviewed Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee. #BookedonaFeelingJayciLee #NetGalley
Lizzy Chung is an attorney working at a prestigious law firm in L.A. During a pivotal trial in her career, she suffers a panic attack. Realizing she just needs a break from the stress of it all, she decides to escape to the small town of Weldon, CA where she would spend her summers with her best friend Jack Park. When she returns explaining she will be in town for 3 weeks, Jack is ecstatic he has secretly been in love with Lizzy ever since they were kids but at risk of potentially losing their friendship, has never acted on his feelings. As they both work side by side to do some remodeling on Jack’s family’s brewery/bookstore, they quickly begin to realize the sexual tension between them and are faced with the decision to risk losing their friendship to see if they can be something more.

This was a cute small-town romance that did not have a lot of conflict in it. I personally like when romances have intriguing conflict, I feel like that adds on to the tension and makes the characters’ relationship seem more genuine and stronger. There was definitely tension you could mainly feel from Jack’s side but I would have liked to see more detail as to how Lizzy all of a sudden comes to see Jack in a different light. The main conflict they have isn’t revealed till the very end and the solution felt a little redundant. However, I did enjoy all the characters, especially Jack’s family and the banter between the two. This is a perfect for those in the mood for a bookish friends to lovers summer romance. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion. This title is now available for purchase!
This wasn’t my cup of tea, I guess. This read like a YA book for me and the plot just didn’t make sense. The character was doing such silly things and making dumb choices.
This is my first experience reading something by this author. It was a sweet friends to lovers story with lovely characters and lots of heart. Jack and Lizzie are best friends and they are both not happy with their careers, only continuing in them to keep their respective families happy. Lizzie and Jack spent their summers together in Weldon, and after some major burnout and a panic attack, she goes back there to recharge. Jack has always had a crush on her, and when she comes back, he's excited to spend some time with her, but he doesn't know if she feels the same way and he doesn't want to risk ruining their friendship. His family's bookstore is struggling and when Lizzie teams up with him in an effort to save it, sparks begin to fly and the mutual attraction between them becomes stronger.
This was a feel-good, sweet story, that will just leave you with a warm feeling and a smile. The story kept my interest and the characters were likable and endearing. I had a nice time reading this book and I look forward to reading more by this author.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
