Fun cute and deliciously binge-able. This is your summer read you won’t put down. As a book lover and desperately in need a good swoon fest this book hit all the marks for me.

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
There are some moments during Jack's and Lizzy's banter that I loved. They knew each other so well, and had some genuine feelings towards each other.
It just took a while before it got interesting. The first 10% with the work stuff didn't really suck you in. Then it was good, and then their fight seemed a bit unlike them.
Overall it was sweet, but perhaps not one I'll linger on.

- Finding yourself

Very cute book,!

Lizzy has worked her entire life to make partner at one of the top firms in LA. After having a panic attack during her first trial she decides to take some much needed time away from work. Heading to the small town her best friend of 10+ years lives. Jack has loved Lizzy since they were kids. He has never been able to tell her about his feelings. Time spent together may finally help him go from friends to more ...or ruin his relationship with his best friend!

Slow burn with perfect amount of spice! Jack is swoon-worthy

Booked on a Feeling for me was just... okay? It didn't wow me or excite me but I also didn't hate it entirely - very very middle of the road. Nothing about the characters or story had me rushing to finish it - honestly if I believed in DNFing books I might have actually done that. Not terrible of a book, but obviously just very very not for me.

I kept skimming to find substance and ended up DNFing at 35%. So sad cause I wanted to like this one, but just couldn’t get myself to care :(

“”Be back in ten.” He grinned and tapped her on the nose, and she…blushed. Why was she blushing?”
“He’d kept his real feelings for her a secret for so long that the thought of being caught red-handed with hearts in his eyes made him feel a little naked and a lot vulnerable.”
““Just so you know, I could never stop loving you. That’s like telling my heart to stop beating.” “We can’t have that.” She slowly shook her head, wearing a tremulous smile. “You absolutely must love me forever, then.””

Friends to lovers will always be superior for me. Make it childhood friends to lovers and I. Am. Gone. I was ready for some cuteness and light steam, but on both counts, I got so much more than I could’ve asked for.

LIZZY. My sweet, smart, anxious girl. Anxious women on the path to finding themselves and figuring out what they want (spoiler: it’s happiness) ARE EVERYTHING. God she was so amazing and real and I just wanted to wrap her up and keep her safe from all the evils of the world. My heart ached for her.

Jack. JACK. Such a big heart and so full of love and fear. I know how fucking horrible it is to feel inadequate, when all you want is a chance to prove to EVERYONE you’re worth it. But that’s not really the goal is it?

The chemistry!? I was not at all expecting this book to be as steamy as it was and this book pulled off the balance needed with a friends to lovers romance. (Though I wouldn’t categorize this as “a spicy book”, it was still quite hot.)

I love “it’s not unrequited, they’re just idiots” friends to lovers, but it was so fucking beautiful watching Lizzy fall in love with this boy she’s known forever, only wait, he’s a MAN now and why is him being all handyman and shit so sexy??? And him hoping his crush would fade, only for it to become … so much more.

I haven’t read the previous books, but regardless I wasn’t a fan of this one sadly. It just didn’t excite me, nor did the characters have any of my interest at all. I ended up setting it aside quite a bit and dreading finishing it simply for not having interest. It could be just my reading mood or reading preferences at the moment but for now I didn’t enjoy this read as much as I had wanted.

Booked on a Feeling is a romance novel that serves as a love letter to romance novels. If you enjoy fluffy romcoms and books about books, then this will be right up your alley!

I thought the story was sweet, and I enjoyed the premise of Lizzy’s journey of self-discovery and pinpointing/pursuing her real dreams. However, like I’ve noticed others mention, I did feel a little off-kilter being thrown into the plot and characters without much time for exposition. In hindsight, that probably has a lot to do with this being Lee’s third book set in this “universe” so readers of her other titles would presumably already be at least somewhat familiar with the characters of Jack and Lizzy. For me, I would have loved to see more of the developing bond between these two best friends or had flashbacks to their time growing up together in order to buy into their chemistry more.

My next point is a combination of two things that went hand-in-hand and just didn’t quite work for me as a reader. 1) I felt that the book was a tad too long. It did seem slightly repetitive at points, which made me feel like I wasn’t trusted as a reader to keep up with what was going on. And this was only emphasized by 2) the dual POVs. They just missed the mark, in my opinion. Knowing what both main characters were thinking and feeling at all times lowered the stakes and left it nearly impossible to surprised by any relationship developments or decisions. Having to check in with the other MC during each chapter (even when they were together) also lengthened the overall page count of the novel…circling back to my earlier issue.

Although I didn’t love this full book as much as I had been hoping to there were a lot of aspects I found super enjoyable. Following Korean-American characters was delightful, and it was interesting to see how their shared culture and yet vastly different families were sprinkled throughout their love story. I was also super appreciative of the inclusion of Lizzy’s anxiety and how she dealt with her panic disorder. The normalization of medication, therapy, taking time for your own mental health, being open and honest about your struggles, etc. were all handled so well!

This is a book I would definitely recommend romance-lovers try reading for themselves to see if they gel with it. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my advanced access to this title!

This is every book lover's dream and the happily ever after part of this story is too cute for words. I loved these characters and this plot I thought Jayci Lee's writing was so fun and interesting, and this book totally lives us to the hype and what I expected from this perfect summer romance read.

This book was interesting and kept my attention, though I would not re-read it or recommend to friends.

Lizzy Chung has just won her first trial as a big shot LA lawyer, but doesn’t feel the excitement and thrill she thought she would. She decides to take some time off to relax and recharge and renew her love of the law in the small town of Weldon, where Jack, her best friend since childhood, lives. While Jack is thrilled to have Lizzy around, it’s hard as he’s been in love with her since they were 9.

This book was so cute! It’s a classic friends to lovers trope and I loved every minute of it! I loved the storyline of them helping to fix up the local bookshop, And I love the friends to lovers story line anywhere, always. I appreciated that Lizzy was searching for what she wanted to do in life, I think that’s so relatable to so many people! The story was a bit cliche, I knew how it would end within the first chapter or 2, but I still loved the ride! The author was also very self-aware of what this book was, throwing in some classic book-stagram vernacular which I really appreciated! If you’re looking for a cute bookish, light romance, definitely pick this one up when it’s out it July!

What is your fave romance trope? While I do love friends to lovers, I also love a fake dating trope as well 🥰

A sweet, cute childhood-friends-to-adult-lovers romance that fully embraces its big city/small town tropes. Unfolds like a comfort read, low on conflict and high on easy camaraderie with two main characters who find each other adorable from the start, but need to get out of their own ways before their love story can flourish. The bookstore setting is always a reader favourite, but my favourite aspect was getting to see a woman realize the career she's chosen isn't the one she wants, and it's okay to walk away and rethink, even if that means overturning everything she thought she knew about what she was supposed to do with her life. It's a crossroads I've faced--and know a lot of other women have faced--and I appreciate seeing representations of characters who rethink the messages of ambition that get instilled in so many of us at a young age, such that it takes a lot of work to relocate our own desires. Li's prose is heavy on internal monologue, which will appeal more to some readers than others, with a hint of steam and boundless amounts of pure joy.

a wholesome, single-trope book that could’ve paced itself better. i wish there was more of a buildup, especially from lizzy’s side, towards the beginning of their romantic relationship because it felt thrown at me. jack was the sole light of my eyes during this book — he is so precious. however, i felt like there wasn’t enough angst? it’s probably just a personal preference, but there wasn’t enough angst to fully entice me. there was tension near the end, but it was completely, realistically solvable and they could’ve made a plan if the two main characters just got their brain cells together. overall, this book had its enjoyable moments, but there wasn’t anything tangible for me to grab onto and think, “wow, i adore this book.”

thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me an arc for an honest review!

3.5🌟 With Booked on a Feeling, we get a sweet friends-to-lovers story about Jack and Lizzy, who have been best friends since they were kids. After Lizzy suffers burnout at her job, she uproots her life for a 3-week break in Jack's hometown. I appreciated the conversations surrounding Jack and Lizzy's feelings of obligation to their parents, as well as the way that their transition from friendship to relationship felt realistically tentative. I also thought the ending felt unique with a cool resolution! It did feel slightly predictable and I wish we had learned a little bit more about Jack and Lizzy individually, as well as their friendship prior to them becoming romantic. Since we are thrown into the story with little more than the information that they are BFFs and Jack has loved her for years, we don't really feel connected to them as friends first. Overall, I thought it was cute and easy read!

Unfortunately, this was a DNF after about 45%. I thought I would love this book because of the main protagonist and overall plot, but it was just too slow. I wish I would've loved it, but just not my thing!

Lizzy Chung is a good daughter. She does what her parents ask of her and strives to achieve every goal they ever set for her, like becoming a lawyer and, eventually, a partner in a prestigious L.A. law firm. Unfortunately for her, the panic attacks are becoming more frequent, and the burn-out is real. Jack Park is Lizzy's best friend and biggest fan; he is also madly in love with her. But that's a secret. What's also a secret is his desire to leave the family business and branch out independently. When Lizzy's last panic attack sends her on a soul-searching trip to Jack's hometown, they have three weeks to discover each other in new ways and, perhaps, change their lives for good. If only the path to true love ran straight. The third installment in Jayci Lee's, A Sweet Mess series is a witty, fun story with relatable characters, sparkling dialogue, and a love story worth championing.

This was a best friends to lovers romance between Jack and Lizzy. Jack has been secretly pining for Lizzy since they were kids. When Lizzy takes a three week break from her job, she ends up in a small town in California. Where Jack lives. This was a sweet and heartwarming romance that I really enjoyed. I loved watching Lizzy find happiness volunteering at the local bookstore.

Friends to lovers sometimes doesn't work for me but I loved this couple together. The chemistry was sizzling between them and they were just so dang cute together. They were a flirty and fun couple. The simple touches and looks before they admitted their feelings made me eager for that first kiss. Once it came, it may have been my favorite scene in the book. What I was not expecting was the steam, but I was totally here for it.

This book was so cute!

This romance features Lizzy and Jack, childhood best friends who live hours apart. Lizzy is a high powered attorney in LA, working hard to make partner at her big city firm. She faces a lot of pressure from her job, and struggles overcoming her anxiety. Jack is helping run his family's brewery in a small town in California, and though he loves his family and his work, he has bigger dreams for the future. When Lizzy has a panic attack at work, she decides she needs some time away from her big city lifestyle, and decides to go visit Jack in Weldon for three weeks. Little does she know that her vacation could change both of their lives for the better - but only if they are both willing to let it.

There were so many things that I loved about this book. I saw myself so much in Lizzy's character, so I felt like the conflict and character growth in her was so personal and relatable. Jack was such a swoon-worthy sweetheart, and I loved that he had his own growth throughout the story as well. One of the coolest things about this book was how self-aware it was - it made so many references to romance novels and even classified Jack and Lizzy's story within its own trope, which I thought was so unique. I also loved how big of a part of the book reading and independent bookstores were. It made me remember how fun it was to fall in love with reading as a kid and how much I love the peace and personality of independent bookstores. How could that not make a lifelong reader's heart happy?

I really needed a light and fun read, and this fit the bill! I definitely recommend checking this one out!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
