I won't lie. This book just wasn't my cup of tea. Something thing about this book just didn't make me want to keep reading it.
Complete honestly the first chapter just made me not want to read the book. The way the character was written in that introduction just threw me off of wanting to read
Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee is a fun summer read. Lizzy is a to-do list lover who needs a break from her high stress job of being an LA lawyer. Jack, her best friend, is brilliant in all kinds of ways, but still trying to find his path. The only thing they can be sure of is their friendship, but could it be even more? I love the concept of building love from a lifelong friendship. The fact that a bookstore is often the setting makes me like this book even more.
Lee did a wonderful job making the characters feel real. She captured the magic in everyday moments. Lizzy and Jack didn’t need extravagant things or over the top experiences to enjoy their time together.
The down to earth feel of the characters also made it so easy to connect with them. Lizzy suffers from panic attacks while Jack questions his value working at his family owned brewery. These two experience real, raw internal conflicts to which many readers will relate.
Their journey together is full of nerves, laughter, passion, love and a little uncertainly. Thank you Jayci Lee and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy! 4 out of 5 stars for Booked on a Feeling!
This was a cute friends to lovers that was an easy read. I loved how the banter between best friends turned steamy. There were a few things that seemed kind of rushed, but the more I thought about it I realized a friends to lovers will always seem that way because they are already so familiar with each other.
I wish there had been more closure with her mom since her mother was not happy with her career and her love interest. We never hear back about that.
I did love the epilogue.
This was such a fun cute read and look forward to reading more from this author.
A sweet story about two life long friends who become more. Both are trying to figure out what they want outside family obligations and expectations when they find their friendship has become more. A great weekend escape
Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee was such an enjoyable, light-hearted read. The friends to lovers story of 30-year-old best friends was really heartwarming and adorable. Lizzy and Jack were great characters and very relatable as they tried to find their passion and path in life. I liked that both characters were from Korean families because we got to experience the dynamics that that caused as they were on their journey of self discovery and love. A lot of this plot largely centers around an Indy bookstore which was a book lovers dream place to fall in love.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this advanced copy! I liked the premise of the book a lot as a reader. Definitely loved the idea of owning a bookstore.
I felt like the chemistry of the characters was odd. I didn’t really understand how they both were so in love with each other and they didn’t know it. It felt really forced and unrealistic. I also found the main conflict silly and easily resolved. It felt like way too much filler story to get to the main issues. I rated it as just okay overall, three out of 5 for me.
This book was the perfect example of a great romcom-themed friends-to-lovers book. Lizzy and Jack have been friends for nearly 20 years and Jack has always been in love with her (honestly, when the guy falls first it's my favorite!). Lizzy takes a break from work and ends up helping out a bookshop owner while spending A LOT of time with Jack. She is slowly starting to have feelings for him and I loved the slow burn of their relationship.
The setting was absolutely perfect - I loved that she was helping to restore this bookstore. These two are such close friends that it was fun to see their relationship bloom and grow. As Lizzy's feelings grow stronger, the book gets SOOO much better. I was a little bored in the beginning but after that first kiss it was all over from there and I was binge reading. They both had these secrets they were keeping from each other and I was just waiting for things to unfold. This book had a moderate amount of spice to it, nothing crazy. I would say probably a 2 out of 5 for spice rating.
Overall, it was really enjoyable. I loved the characters and the setting. The slow burn of their relationship was great but the beginning definitely had me a little bored. I also felt like the last few chapters could have been condensed into a smaller section. The epilogue wrapped things up nicely and I left happy. This book gets a rating of 4 stars from me.
*4.5
This book is so cute, childhood best friends to lovers you will always be famous. Jack and Lizzy are adorable and I loved seeing her fall in love with him. I'm also such a sucker where the couple takes time for themselves before getting back together.
I received an arc through netgalley.
“Booked on a Feeling “ is a thoroughly enjoyable friends to lovers romance set in a small town book store. Both Lizzie and Jack are likable characters who need to make changes in order to grow into their changing relationship. Love scenes are steamy and fun. I highly recommend this novel and will be checking out the author’s backlist ASAP.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of “Booked on a Feeling.”
3.5/5 Stars!!
Thank you to Netgalley & St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wish that there would’ve been more of a backstory to Lizzy & Jack’s relationship. They were both unaware of the other being in love with them even though they’ve been friends for DECADES.
I thought Jack was a little self sabotaging…. Especially when it came to the relationship. Like he wanted it so much but kept making excuses to not jump into it.
This book was a little predictable, but sometimes that’s what I like in a story :) Overall, I thought this book was a super cute and easy read!
Such a cute romance novel. Wish there was more of a background of how they grew up and both were 100% OBLIVIOUS to how they felt about eachother until they were in their 30's. Overall a nice non dramatic book to dive into to make your heart happy.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This was a perfectly enjoyable, fluffy little rom com. I am a fan of the friends to lovers trope and this one was that with the backdrop of an adorable bookstore.
Jack and Lizzy were fine. I neither liked nor disliked them lol. I was neutral. They were sweet together though and their chemistry was sizzling!
I do feel like the pacing was a little off and I feel like we got to the resolution a little quickly.
3.5 stars and thank you to St. Martin's press for the ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for this titled. Review and opinions are honest and my own.
I see where they were going with the story but it missed the mark for me. I felt like the story had a good premise and I like the multi-culture and mental health representation, unfortunately the main characters fell flat. I would have enjoyed this story more if I was given more background on Lizzy and Jack’s friendship; we were catapulted into their friendship head first and expected to be invested, I was not. Both characters are already pinning over each other, which in terms of a slow burn it just fizzled out for me. The law jargon was a bit heavy, especially in the first few chapters and made it drag. There was so much potential for this romance but by the time we got to it the story was almost over. I really tried to like this story but in the end it wasn’t for me.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, St. Martin’s Press and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A charming little book I throughly enjoyed. It’s perfect for book club or light reading.
I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it! Lizzy and Jack are the cutest characters I’ve met in a long time! I laughed, cried and everything in in between. There is some slickness however it’s done so tastefully that the story is amazing without it. If you’re a fan or romance, this is a MUST READ!!
*I did receive an ARC of this book for my honest review*
I received Booked on a Feeling as an ARC from NetGalley.
At first, I didn't love this book, but as the main characters started to get more involved with each other, there were some parts I really liked. I did like aspects of their relationship and I liked watching them grow.
I think the part that was hard for me at the beginning was that the MMC, Jack, was already in love with the FMC, Lizzy, and the way they interacted with each other didn't feel like friends at all. They were very physically affectionate and attentive to each other in ways that I thought would be really odd in a friendship where feelings weren't involved. So it felt more like two people who hadn't put a label on their relationship rather than two people who were long-time friends.
Also, sometimes the banter didn't land right for me. It felt corny, and sometimes I felt secondhand embarrassment.
Once we got past the flirty banter phase and got into the relationship phase though, these issues weren't really there anymore and I did enjoy it.
Booked on a feeling is a feel good romance. Not much substance, would be great to skim by the pool or on vacation but nothing jaw dropping or amazing. I wouldn’t really recommend it for those reasons.
This book is magic. The banter is authentic, the pining is hopeful, and the resolution is heartwarming. I loved all of the nods to Korean culture which only added to the character's depth. The ending is brilliant. I have a feeling I will be reaching for this book over and over again!
An adorably lovable romance between childhood friends!
Lizzy was so relatable to me. Deciding her life direction initially to follow the career path her mother wanted and learning to instead choose a path that made her happy.
The fact that this was all things bookish down to the ridiculous tbr that we all have and pretend we can manage🤣.
Such a cute, heartwarming story. While it did have its slower moments and it took a while for the story to draw you in, it was well worth it in the end. I look forward to adding this one to my shelves!

You know those book couples that are so good that you actually feel the singleness aching in your chest. That is Jack Park and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Chung. Lizzy is a hotshot L.A lawyer, gunning to make partner at her big law firm and doesn't have much support in her life other than her best friend, Jack. Jack is exhausted in his tiny town, working for his family's brewery to support other people's dreams; there is one person he's happily supportive of, Lizzy Chung because they're best friends... and he's head over heels in love with her. When presented with 3 weeks of Lizzy because she's escaping her job in his tiny town, Jack has to figure out how to 1. be around Lizzy as just friends or 2. get her to fall in love with him. The backdrop of a local bookstore in desperate need of a list-obsessed Lizzy is just the cherry on top of this heartstring pulling romance.
Lizzy is an ambitious, anxiety ridden, and overwhelmed lady with a tense relationship with her overbearing mother and I think I'm her. Her journey of learning to accept what she wants provided introspective I wasn't expecting when I picked up this book. The inversion of her career journey with Jack's also made my heart pound as I anxiously read page after page, trying to sort out where these two would end up. Their relationship was heart-wrenchingly adorable and much more. As a book lover and hopeless romantic, their love story is a masterpiece to me and this book is a new all time favorite.
