I'm afraid this one fell a little flat for me. To me, it was one of those books that start out really well and then just fizzle out for some reason. I couldn't see the main characters in my mind's eyes, and in the first few pages, there was a scene where you have people helping out at the crash scene and then the bull dozer comes and nothing about these helpers were ever mentioned.
So, not for me, sadly. I did appreciate the bit of history though.

This book was so good, that I was immediately hooked and ready to solve the mysteries within the story. This was my first read from this author but it definitely will not be the last.
This story is action-packed, filled with perfect twists, interesting main characters, and just all-around perfectly executed. I will without a doubt recommend this book to anyone looking for a great suspenseful mystery novel.
Fallout is a modern-day suspense novel written by Carrie Stuart Parks.
Summary: Samantha Williams is content with her placid life until an SUV comes barreling into her classroom with a dead woman at the helm.
And that’s just the beginning. As her life unravels piece by piece, Samantha must discover the truth behind not only her own past, but also a dangerous government cover-up that could destroy everything she holds dear.
My Thoughts: I disliked this book. I wanted to like it, but the characters just weren’t that likeable, and I found myself confused as parts of the story didn’t quite make sense.
There is plenty of action and an interesting plot line, but the ending seemed like a rushed conclusion to wrap everything up, and I couldn’t get into it.
This one just didn’t work for me.
I would like to thank Thomas Nelson though, for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.
“The fallout from our work has destroyed or killed too many people.”
“My faith gives me comfort when things aren’t going right or easy in my life. It’s described as a peace that surpasses all understanding.”
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
I am a huge Carrie Stuart Parks fan. She writes awesome Christian suspense thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat and she weaves in little known historical moments into her plots. Her book always has an interesting heroine and humor throughout. And best of all, any gender will like her books.
With that said, though, I didn’t connect with this one like I have done with so many of her other books. This one had a similar feel as Formula Of Deception so if you are a fan of that book, you will enjoy this one. And I will say that I enjoyed it. Parks once again has Clan Firinn as part of the plot, but this time in a larger sense. I had a little trouble connecting all the events together and I just wasn’t as much a fan of the main character, Samantha, as I was with other books by the author. I did guess the big reveal. The ending was a little anticlimactic.
But from start to finish, I did like the book. It just wasn’t as good as Fragments Of Fear or Woman In Shadow, which I thought were outstanding. Still a huge fan of this author.

The prologue begins with a chapter taken from history.
Chapter one introduces us to the main character in the form of a car crashing into her school room full of students. We learn that she has an unusual habit of quoting passages from children’s books.
The attacks keep coming and it is a tangle to figure out from where or whom. The person responsible was on my radar from the get-go. But I doubted myself. But ended up being right.
What I like about this book is the rich and fully developed characters, a complex plot, intertwined with a bit of history.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book as this is the first book I've read by this author. I was pleasantly surprised to find this story engaging and the characters well developed and relatable.
I really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it.

Carrie Stuart Parks has a unique style and I love that you can count on the following from her novels:
Quirky main character
At least one dog prominently featured
Inclusion of art
Historical detail intertwined in the story line
Engaging tale
In Fallout (set in 2015), Samantha Williams is an art teacher in the small town of LaCrosse, Washington. Initially, I was lukewarm to her sharing quotes from children's books, however, once Samantha's motivation became clear, I was completely on board. Quote on Samantha.
Here's one quote from the novel:
"Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think." Christopher Robin
The historical details about the Hanford Nuclear Facility were fascinating and the prologue pulled me right in to the novel.
The romance was a very minor part of the novel, which worked well for the story.

A bit slow pace for me, it was still a nice read.
Fallout was an interesting read. It started slow but gradually picked up and I was able to finish it in one setting.
This is one of the most gripping, intriguing suspense novels I’ve read in quite a while. It begins in 1988 with the description of tanks holding 53 million gallons of the highest-level radioactive waste found in the United States. The date for the bombing has been carefully selected and it will just take a detonator to set off. Revenge is the obvious motivator to implement his carefully laid out plan.
Fast forward to 2015 in the small town of LaCrosse, Washington, in an after-school art class filled with children. Suddenly the sound of a gun being fired is heard and an engine gets louder and closer. Samantha Williams, teaching the class looks outside and sees a black Suburban heading across the parking lot directly toward her classroom. She screams at the children to run, and they all race through the door. Once the desks, chairs, books, glass and pieces of the wall and ceiling settle, Samantha finds herself on the ground outside, not knowing how she got there.
This is an captivating story with a compelling cast of characters, action, twists and turns, some startling events and even a bit of romance. Scattered among dire circumstances are some delightful quotes from Dr. Seuss and even Christopher Robbin, however, most importantly in some dangerous situations, scripture was used to call out to God for help. This book will stick with you long after the last page is turned.

Great book but I expected nothing less from Carrie Stuart Parks! Suspense all the way and definitely a twist you don't expect.
I decided to give Fallout three stars since the first half of the book moves at a slow pace, barely advancing the plot. The characters fall rather flat. Samantha has a few interested quirks, but lacks any emotional connection. The supporting characters as well are somewhat lackluster. The book has numerous forensic descriptions that are perhaps above most readers interest and can be skipped over. The last third of the book picked up in suspense enough for me to be interested in the ending, but all in all I wouldn’t recommend.
I found that the newest release by Carrie Stuart Parks, Fallout, was a pretty good read. I am going to give it four and a half stars.
Such an interesting read. It's an action packed, mystery thriller.
The plot is intriguing. It kept me guessing on what happens next. The twists and reveals in this one are chef's kiss🤌 The history of the town was something I never expected it to be. The way it's written is to the point, never will you feel like you're being burdened with useless information. It all connects!
While it was close to perfection, I didn't give it five stars cause of the slow pacing and the plot takes too much time to unravel, which is why I give it four stars. Also, I couldn't understand the forensic stuff which was detailed out, so if that's something that interests you don't hesitate to pick this one up. (It went over my head NGL).
Samantha our main character is very likable and I liked how comfortable she was with her own self and her quirks. She was a fighter from the first chapter and continued to be throughout. Her emotional past made me shed a few tears. I liked her spirituality. The fact that whenever she's in a tough situation she calls on the Almighty God is so good to read.
The supporting characters- Dutch and Mary are full of personality. Dutch is the romantic interest (there's very little romance in this); Mary is the BFF of sorts👀 The chemistry between the characters is although good to read, it's not amazing.
Overall, a pretty good read. I was initially going to give it three stars but the last sixty pages are so good, bumped it up to four.

Excellent read, too heavy for teens, great adult fiction book!! I couldn’t put this book down, felt like some of the concepts would be good for college age students…
An intriguing story based on events around a part of Washington. Tight timeline with tons of action. Tsists and turns that will keep readers engaged and guessing. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to those who want a whisper of romance included with the mystery. Enjoyable read.
