Since this was part of a series, I had to go back and read the ones that came prior but am happy to share that this can be read as a stand alone.
If you love a comeback love story with a whole lot of angst, this one is for you.
Brian and Darcy were once an item but not anymore- not til she comes back. I was a little underwhelmed by the “root” of the issue- it was a lot of work up and the juice didn’t seem worth the squeeze.
Not my favorite in the series- but a very cute read!
This wasn't my favorite read of the year, but it was good. The synopsis didn't draw me in, but the cover did. It's definitely worth the read once.
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me advance access to this title. I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more from this author. As a reader, I am really motivated by character driven stories and I found myself quickly becoming immersed in these characters’ lives. Full review to come.
This is an odd review!
I had picked up the book, not realising that it was part of a series. Unfortunetly, it is a book that you would have had to have read the others to fully appreciate the current book.
From what I read, it was enjoyable. Brian and Darcy seemed like very likeable characters and i will definetly go back and read the previous books to hear more about their backstory.
The book was good, good characters good plot, but as I said, a silly mistake on my part means I can't give a full review!
I'm a huge fan of A. S. Kelly's so I was super excited to see that she has a new book out!!
I'm really enjoying this series, it's the perfect mix of slow burn, passion, and true love and it's a joy to read about these characters. Can't wait for her next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the earc in return for an honest review.
I feel like I should have read the other books in the series but otherwise it was a good read! A little confusing because of all the other characters so I guess I need to read the whole series now.
Thank you Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for this eArc!
While the premise is homey and heartwarming, I was confused half of the time.
2 stars for the side characters cuz I enjoyed them way more than the main characters. Darcy and Brian ( the main characters) were overdramatic and insufferable. They acted like teens throughout the book Which irritated me a lot.
I just simply didn't care about the characters or anything in the book.
This is the fourth book in a series, and I recommend reading the others first. There are backstories and characters that you need to know to really understand a lot of what's happening here between Brian and Darcy. This is a second chance at love book, and although it has some of the trademark humor and steam of other Kelly books, I don't think it's as well-written as other ones. Perhaps the mystery behind why they aren't together anymore is built up too much. There's some repetitiveness in the writing as well. If you want to read a Kelly romance, I recommend One Last Kiss.
This book was given to me by netgalley. my review is 100% honest and all my own opinion.
This book is the 4th in the connemora with live series. Disclaimer: I have not read the first 3 books in the series but this does not matter because it did not affect my reading experience.
I really enjoyed this book and enjoyed the author's take on a second chance romance. I liked the deep dive into the main character backstory although the may side character stories were a little over powering and overwhelming. It kind of muffled the main storyline making it a little wordy and confusing. The plot does bring up a lot of questions that were not really answered.
With all of this in mind I did enjoy the story once I was able to figure out that there was a mystery I needed to figure out. The relationship and the breakup was realistic heart breaking and making want to throw the "book" across the room (no I didn't ) it had me pulling my hair out in frustration and some moments I wanted to reach into the book and shake the characters
All in all I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it and recommend to start the series from the first book.
It’s listed as part of a series that can be read as a standalone. Not so sure about that. While the story in this particular book is wrapped up at the end, technically making it a standalone I suppose, there is so much else going on and so many other characters in this one that you feel completely lost if you haven’t read the others, which I have not. There are SO MANY side characters. Far too many and it detracts from the main ones. There are long stretches where a lot happens but nothing really progresses the story forward.
It’s…fine. I wouldn’t go out of my way to read it and I don’t know that it was strong enough to sift through three previous books to make this one better.
2.5/5
I wanted this to be a 5 star read, but it is hard when you are starting multiple books into the series.
A second chance at love, who can really complain about that. The only thing that made me take this from a 5 to a 4 was I felt that it was super wordy! It could use some editing to make it a 5 star!
This is the newest book (4) in the From Connemara With Love Series. This is all about Brian Veldons and Darcy, the love of his life, who’s back in town again to see her family and to get back what Brian stole from her…her heart. This story starts out with a lot of mystery surrounding the relationship between Brian and Darcy and what really happened in their past. The answers are slowly reveled as the story progresses.
Brian wants Darcy back, but he doesn’t think he deserves her after what he did to her. Darcy is too lost and hurt and wants to punish him for it. It’s a heartbreaking story. Brain doesn’t believe in himself and made a terrible mistake, but now it’s up to him to fix it, but it may not be fixable.
What I loved:
▪️Brian’s friends. They didn’t like what Brian did, but they still loved and supported him in their usual twisted and crazy way 😂 trying to help him win Darcy back.
▪️ The way my perspective switched at the half way mark of this book. At first I was all like NO at what Brian did and I wasn’t happy with it at all, but once it hit 50% things cleared up I did a 180. Man this book toyed with me, lol.
▪️Brian. The growth he went through. Toward the end when it really showed how broken he was - it wrecked me. He completely had me tearing up and won me over.
▪️ Toward the ending when things were still uncertain and rocky I teared up again and also with the Ellie thing a few more tears. This book went from a slowish start to 100mph 😂
▪️ The way the author made it all work when I was skeptical that he would be able to redeem himself with me or Darcy.
I LOVED this book. I’m so glad I gave this book a chance and this series. It was so different and I fell in love with all these zany characters. All the books were amazing for me.
Second chance romance, 10 years later for this couple. A cute book with a great friend group that was an enjoyable read.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgallery for the ARC in exchange for review
This was somewhat of a tough read for me. For starters, it’s the 4the book in the series and I felt a little lost trying to keep up with things. It might have been better had I read the others beforehand, but I didn’t realize it was necessary. I can’t take stars off for that though.
What made me drop the rating to 3 stars is the wordiness. There was so much going on and yet I felt like we were getting nowhere. A lot of redundancy was happening and I felt like I was running in place. It’s not a good feeling. Another reason is the sheer amount of side characters. When you need to have a glossary at the beginning of a book listing out the characters and who they are, that’s when you know it’s too much. They shouldn’t be that involved because they take up so much space and detract from the main characters. It doesn’t mean they can’t be in there, but not to that extreme.
Aside from that, it wasn’t terrible.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and A.S. Kelly for the ARC copy of this book.
I think my first mistake was trying to read this book without reading the prior books before it. I felt like the book was hard to follow, both because I didn’t understand the characters (and you’ve very much dropped into the middle) and because there is so. much. dialogue. And there’s no indicator of who’s speaking etc.
I like the idea of the story, I like a second chance romance, but I couldn’t do this one. It looks like this book has been previously published in Spanish or Italian, based on the reviews. Maybe that’s part of the issue?
This is a second chance romance between Darcy and Brian. They have a lot of unfinished feelings and business. I don't believe this story needed 55 plus chapters. Although I love the deep dive into the characters' backstories and thoughts I would have rather the story was shorter. One main reason why is because for a quarter of the book was this big mystery......Why was darcy in town for so long? What did Brian take from Darcy? And what's the secret of Darcy Life where she actually lives? My head was going back and forth.. Questions where asked with legit no answer..and this went round and round for a quarter of the book.
By the halfway point, I didn't even care about the mystery or why Brian and Darcy aren't together. This whole thing could have been solved with a bunch of simple e conversations and honestly.
I would have even been happy if the audience was told the answers instead of creating this artificial mystery.
Now I haven't read the previous books so I can't speak on the others romance but the supporting characters were in this book too much. Too many side conversations about what so and so is thinking or doing. Usually, when you have a series, you see less of the other characters not to say they can't make an appearance but they almost had lead roles.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if it was shorter and the conflict was more straight up.
You are just rooting for Brian the whole time. He is everything that you want for someone in you life. Brian is my new fictional boyfriend!
Thank you for this ARC.
This was a stunning book. Everything about it was lovely. It was gorgeous written and full of touching moments.
And the ending...wow...was just so perfect.! I highly recommend this book..
This was a great book. The Characters were completely fleshed out. You can tell the author spent a great deal of time developing them. The story between the two main characters was completely endearing. At times this story was heartbreaking but it also had some humor and sweetness thrown in as well. Overall this was a great second chance romance and I throughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend.
I’m sure this is a lovely book and I appreciate the opportunity to read it from NetGalley unfortunately it’s the fourth book in a series and I am just entirely too lost with the previously established relationships which frankly seem incredibly complicated
