This is an intense, entertaining and romantic story. The characters are amusing and bold. I laughed and I got teary at times, while thoroughly enjoying the storyline.
Another great addition to the Lyon's Den series of stories. Loved it and will definitely recommend along with the previous books in the series.
Thank you C.H. Admirand, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
In Need of Rescue
Colin was a captain who had to give up his commission to take up his role as viscount. He must find a woman to marry. Gemma was desperate to find a man to marry to get away from her greedy father who was willing to sell her to a man much older than she was. Mrs. Dove-Lyon could be the answer to both their problems, and Colin and Gemma just might rescue one another. This story will have romance and a dash of suspense. Gemma’s father did not want to give up his daughter to the viscount. He had a great deal to gain if she married the man he wanted. Whoever said that greed was the root of all evil did not lie.
This was my first time reading a book from this series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The plot of this story is fast paced and full of twists and turns. The relationship between Gemma and the Captain had me swooning! Even though they barely met each other for the first time, their connection was strong and it revolved around them building trust with each other. I also loved that Gemma was not the typical female character, and she had a feisty side that kept the Captain on his toes. Overall I think this was a great, quick read!

Thank you NetGalley. Colin Broadbank has spent his adult life in the Navy. Gemma Atherton has been kept at home and her father has not let her out of the house to shop, go to parties or do anything. She goes to Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find a husband on her own without her father being involved. Colin is suddenly the Viscount and needs a bride. They are at the Lyon's Den at the same time. They decide to marry. Her father and the man he has promised her to are trying to interfere. Can this couple find happiness and be left alone?
The Lyon's Den series has become one of my favorites to follow. Written by different authors, each one gives their stories their uniqueness while still blending it with the general essence of the series. I would venture to think that's not easy to do given that each author has their own style, but from the books that I have read (I haven't had the pleasure of reading them all) they all seem to flawlessly fit together. This one also proves to be a delightful addition to the series. Colin is a captain with the Royal Navy and has come home to London and receives the tragic news of his brother's death. With his brother gone, he is the new viscount and is having some trouble adjusting to his new responsibilities. One of which is to a find a new bride. He goes to the Lyon's Den for assistance and encounters Gemma, who has also come in search of a spouse to free her from her troubles. Intrigued by the strong-willed and feisty Gemma, Colin offers to help. But their road to matrimonial bliss is far from easy.
Another interesting and entertaining story that captured my attention from the start and kept my interest till the end. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, but the chemistry was not as strong as I would have liked. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable story and I am happy to have had the opportunity to review.
I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Another fun story to add to the Lyon’s Den Series. I was entertained from beginning to end, the plot flows smoothly, the characters are intriguing. So far I have enjoyed every book from this interconnected world and think the authors all did amazing work!

I love the Lyon's Den Series, and that different authors write the stories.
I really liked Captain Colin Broadbank's character. He has been at sea for most of his life, and often still thinks and acts like he is Captain of a ship. He is also a second son, so he has a lot to learn about navigating his way with the ton. Fortunately he has wonderful backup from all his ex-military friends. I loved that Gemma didn't quite know what to make of Colin at first, just that she felt safe with him.
The story has a villain, danger, and lots to keep your attention.

Great characters and entertaining storyline, I love this series of books every one I’ve read has been great.
This was a very enjoyable read by an author I’ve not read a lot from before, it was a wonderful change of pace and writing styles that I loved.
I’m looking forward to reading more.

I found the hero arrogant and bossy and the heroine a bit irrational. Gemma moves between being impressed by Colin and his can do attitude but annoyed by his dominance and expectation of total obedience. I think it was assumed I'd be familiar with Colin's friends and relations. A bit too much Jolly tar plus continually calling the heroine lassy.. I probably won't search out this author again.

I found this book did not hold my attention as the others in the series. The beginning held great potential, but the story was one that seemed to go nowhere very slowly. I expected to like Gemma in the beginning, but she was not the strong heroine for most of the book. She was too busy woolgathering, weak kneed, or fainting. One minute she trusts Colin, the next she is afraid she has made a mistake.
She was going to do what she had to... She would not marry a man her father chose, who would control her dowry.
Gemma went to the Lyons Den to obtain help from Mrs Dove-Lyons and was assured she would have her a match quickly. What she did not realize is she had already been rescued by said man when another had tried to accost her!
Captain Colin Broadhurst was also there to find a wife with the help of the proprietress. He was intrigued by the feisty lovely Gemma and offered for her.
But the journey to the altar is a bumpy one and it may call for extreme measures!
Rescued by the Lyon by CH Admirand is another book featuring Bessie Dove-Lyon in her situation as a very successful matchmaker. In this case, Captain Colin Broadbent passed his first test when he rescued Gemma Atherton from Lord Harkwell and the things he said he would do to her with the other men watching. Gemma should not have been there but she took a wrong turn on her way back from the necessary. He was an odious little man missing his hair and having plenty of stomach to make up for it. When she got home from the Lyon's Den, she found the house in darkness, all the servants gone, and he father with an announcement: she was betrothed to Harkwell. The she was locked in her bedchamber. What could she do? It turns out Captain Broadbent, or the newly minted Viscount Moreland, had that well in hand, having already made up his mind about her.
Colin was arrogant, and bossy, but very determined and very smart. Gemma had no experience at all, having been kept a virtual prisoner all her life by her very greedy father. He told her repeatedly that she was not clever, not attractive, and would make someone a terrible wife. She believed him. Colin knew hat her wanted: her. He wasn't sure why but it didn't matter. It was a lovely romance, which not have a smooth time of it at all. People were shot. People were beaten. The housekeeper had learned to avoid scandal from a master and would allow nothing. It was a story that kept the reader on their toes. As always it did finally work out, but it was a struggle. I liked it. It was clever, and original, and very entertaining.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Rescued by the Lyon by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #dragonblade #rescuedbythelyon #chadmirand
Gemma Atherton is due to inherit a nice sum of money from her grandmother.
Her father trying to manipulate a marriage to one of his business acquaintances to get his hands on as much of her money as he can. Gemma is young, a little immature, virtual prisoner in her home. At wits end, she sneaks out to go to the Lyon’s Den to seek help from Bessie Dove-Lyon finding a husband, quickly. Colin Broadbank was until recently a captain in the Royal Navy. He has spent most of his life at sea. When his brother dies, he becomes his father’s heir. He resigns his commission, give up the life he knows and loves, and comes home to fulfill his duty. He has come to the Lyon’s Den to find a wife quickly to quell a possible family scandal. Mrs. Dove Lyon sees him as a good possibility for Gemma.
I liked this well-written quick-moving story. The storyline is full of drama and danger. Colin and Gemma are attracted from the first, but remain wary. The back and forth between them is amusing. The captain barks an order; she barks back. Accustomed to having his way, being obeyed, that considered, he likes the lovely feisty young woman Mrs. Dove-Lyon has introduced to him. He is confident, commanding, and very protective. Gemma is scrappy. She is opinionated, outspoken, sassy, and doesn’t take orders. Colin rescues Gemma from several unpleasant situations, including once before they even meet. He even steals her to prevent marriage to a reprobate. She later rescues him when said reprobate tries to cheat at a duel. There are a number of quite interesting secondary characters, not the least of whom is Colin’s brother Edmund. I love the Lyon’s Den stories and this is a nice addition. Colin and Gemma are good for each other, and their happily ever after is off to a good start. A good read. I recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Captain Broadband was happily employed in his Majesty’s Navy and loved his career aboard his ship. Until the day he received the letter from his father; that he was the new Viscount Moreland and needed to find a wife immediately. Gemma Atherton needs a husband and goes to Mrs. Dove-Lyon for help. Now the plot thickens, and the characters are written with great personalities and laughter. I enjoyed the captain as he tries to remember that he is not on-board ship and commanding sailors. Gemma is exceptionally good at reminding him and putting him in his place. I love this series and find this one hard to put down. Thanks for another adventure at
The Lyons Den.

Captain Colin Broadbank returns to London aboard the HMS Britannia, and receives the tragic news his elder brother, Viscount Moreland, has perished from a virulent fever. He is swept up in his father's dictate that he marries immediately and live the life of a titled landlubber! At his younger brother's suggestion, he decides to try his luck, and find his own bride, at Mrs. Dove-Lyon’s famed establishment--The Lyon's Den. Miss Gemma Atherton's father is a wealthy Cit, with an eye on maintaining control of her considerable fortune after he marries her off to an older business contemporary, one who will agree to go into business with him for the next five years. When her father discovers Gemma’s younger brother has not quit gambling, he threatens to send her brother to America. She cannot bear for that to happen. Not a typical young miss, Gemma takes her future in her own hands. She sews a reticule large enough to conceal her grandfather's dueling pistol, hires a hack, and heads to The Lyon's Den. Her plan is to meet with Mrs. Dove-Lyon and persuade her to find a husband who will agree to pay off Gemma’s brother's debt before he accepts Gemma’s dowry.
An interesting addition to this multi author series. I enjoyed the book but was left with lots of questions & not many answers. Whilst I liked Colin even though he couldn’t stop issuing orders, I did find these amusing. I couldn’t warm to Gemma & found her constantly fainting grated on me & didn’t fit with her strong personality. The attraction was there between the pair but it seemed lukewarm. Not my favourite in the series & it took me a few days to complete it as I kept reading a little then leaving it & going back later.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I have loved this series and love the cover. I also think that the plot of this story is good with high drama and a protective hero. Captain Colin Broadbank is used to the responsibilities and duties that come with being the Captain of a ship in the Royal Navy and is having a hard time adapting to life as a Viscount. As it turns out, he is every bit as autocratic as his father. Gemma Atherton is being used as a bargaining tool by her father, mainly to get his own hands on her fortune, over which he has very little control. Approaching Mrs. Dove-Lyon at the Lyon's Den to find her a husband who meets her criteria, Gemma meets the Captain and although attracted to him, finds it difficult taking orders from him. Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed in the author's handling of the subject as there are a number of holes in the story and it left me with more questions than answers. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A love that lit like a fire, quick and bright! Gemma Atherton was a sheltered miss with little experience in the world. Her fathers love was for money and nobility, she had more in common with the staff than nobility. But when he agrees to barter her off she takes matters into her own hands, seeking the help of the Mrs.Dove-Lyon the famed matchmaker. While at the Lyons Den, she stumbles upon Captain Moreland who continues to come to her rescue. The journey these two embark on is a wild ride to say the least. Protecting this woman comes as easily a breathing to Colin, and he quickly loses his heart in the process. Not being a woman to stand aside, Gemma challenges him at every turn. She may be naive and inexperienced but she has the heart of a lion. They will learn to rely on each other. A whirlwind courtship leading to a beautiful happily ever after.
This only the second book in the Lyon's Den series that I have read, but I am really liking the idea of having different authors writing stories that exist within the same universe. I read CH Admirand's story in one of the Dragonblade Christmas anthologies and was excited to see those characters again. Overall, I did enjoy this book but I felt there was a lot of plot points that were never resolved (I'll forgive the author for these if they are brought up in future books). For one, we never find out who was holding Gemma's brother's debt and what led him to being pressed into the Navy (this is the one thing that I thought might be resolved in another book if her brother gets his own story and romance). The other plot that is underdeveloped is that regarding Gemma's father. What deal did he make with Harkwell and what lies had he told him regarding Gemma? And why do we never see or hear from him after he flees her house with Colin and subsequently marries him? I also got confused as to what the deal was with Gemma's money, were the inheritance and dowry connected or separate funds? If they were separate did she get the inheritance when she married? I did like Colin and Gemma together as a couple but got annoyed with her back-and-forth about him - one moment she's excited to be with him and marry him and the next she's worried he won't love her or is doing this all for his own reasons. Another small annoyance was that the author keeps referring to Colin by different names and sometimes I had to remind myself she was talking about him - she alternates between Captain, Colin, Moreland, Viscount Moreland and I wish she had just picked one. My biggest complaint about Gemma is that she faints 3 0r 4 times throughout the story and only one of these times was there a legitimate reason to. We are supposed to believe she is this strong woman but she passes out whenever things get too stressful. Like I had said before overall I did like the book, I just felt that there were some missed opportunities to make the story stronger and more exciting.
Captain Broadbank, recently of his Majesty's Navy, needs a wife as the new Viscount Moreland. . Gemma Atherton needs a husband right away and goes to Mrs. Dove-Lyon for her help. She must escape her father's manipulations to get his hands on her money by selecting her husband. His verbal abuse has left her with low self-esteem and she does not think Mrs. Dove-Lyon will be successful finding a husband. Captain Broadbank/ Viscount Moreland, steps in several times to save Gemma. Mrs. Dove-Lyon makes her decision. Moreland has already made-up his mind to have Gemma as his wife. Now he has to get through the wedding, bed his wife and accept a challenge on her behalf. Hopefully in that order!
I always look forward to reading another book in this series. This one moves a little slow, but the Captain and his commanding personality is very amusing, especially when tries to tell Gemma what to do. She is up to the challenge of keeping him on his toes.
