I enjoyed this story and the connections between the 2 main characters and their affliation with the military. It touched my heart and made me a little more aware of the troubles our returning soldiers have when returning. This is a great book and I loved it.
I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this book. Debbie Macomber never disappoints. I loved the characters and the storyline. Definitely recommend this book.
Thanks to Netgalley I was able to read this book about 4 months before the Public gets to read this.
I love Debbie Macomber, I think she's a fabulous writer and really knows her audience, I don't really fit into her target audience but who cares.
I loved this book, this book deals with PTSD and the wounds that can happen to people and how to treat people with Compassion.
This story pulled at the heartstrings and I truly enjoyed watching these characters open up and develop together. Hope's name is quite fitting in this story because she gives both Shadow and Cade the hope they both so desperately needed. Cade is given a second chance to turn his life around and make the most of it while she's there picking up the pieces after a devastating loss. Their love story isn't an easy one, but if they can both open up and let each other in it is a beautiful one. One of my favorite reads by this author!
This book is a warm and light read that you would expect from Macomber. The main characters are young adults dealing with some loss and PTSD, and a secondary story line focuses on some high school students who are facing some of their own struggles.
It was SO GOOD to go back to Oceanside! Love that Debbie Macomber followed up (finally!) to "Cottage by the Sea". Worth the wait!
I love all things Debbie, so I was super excited when I saw this available to request I was super excited and even more excited when I was approved! This is a sweet story about Hope and Cade with a bit of a subplot about one of Hope's students, Spencer. One thing I love about Debbie's stories is you know they're going to have a happy ending and this one is no exception. This isn't really a spoiler, lol. I did notice one mistake that I hope gets fixed before the final book is published. First it says Hope's grandfather dies before the grandmother, then it says he dies AFTER her from a broken heart. So, a little confusing. But overall I really liked this one. I hope she doesn't decide to retire like she mentioned in her letter to the readers! It would break my heart!
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Always a fan of this author , enjoyed this heartfelt story , two vulnerable people meet by chance at a dog shelter , from there they both learn to live again , trust and love . This story touches on Veterans and the Ptsd that many have , well written and would recommend to all.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Light hearted story and easy read. I have read a few of Debbie Macomber stories and have enjoyed them.
The Best is Yet to Come is another winner from one of my favorite authors. I always know that when I pick up one of Debbie Macomber's books it will be like a warm hug and just what I need. This book was a huge hug! I loved all the characters and the setting.
This is a typical Debbie Macomber book. It has a sweet love story where 2 lonely people come together in the end. I like how she brings in people from previous books. This was a very quick read.
Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read & review this book.
Mental traumas fester below the surface and rage long after returning from service. Fitting back into society after losing friends and facing horrors of war, we welcome soldiers back but then leave them to their own devices.
The heartbreaking stories of PTSD are more than hardships of losing a limb or disfigurement. The scars that linger often separate veterans from families and they are unable to fit back into society. The atrocities they faced often result in nightmares, lashing out and trying to numb the mental or physical pain with substance abuse.
Standing before the Judge Walters, Cade is facing a list of charges. Losing his friends in the war, Cade would trade his Purple Heart for their lives. The angry man before her is only a shell of his former self. Gifting him with community service, therapy and required to make restitutions instead of jail time, Judge Walters gives Cade the chance to change his life.
Meeting Hope at the animal shelter where he's serving community service, Cade fears that she has the ability to see beyond his façade. By doing so, she has the power to hurt him so to protect himself, he rebuffs her friendship. When he's able to see himself in the care she bestows on Shadow, an abused dog, Cade's walls begin to crumble. Will he be able to trust again?
Thank you to #NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to read an early edition of #TheBestIsYettoCome in exchange for an honest review. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite writers and this is one of her best novels. Macomber masterly weaves the stories together and makes readers question how we judge people at face value. Not knowing their stories or the pain behind their eyes, we tend to brush off cantankerous people and they might need our help more than others.
My relatives served in the wars and returning home, remained silent about their experiences. Looking back, we didn't realize their pain as they self-medicated. PTSD provides a label but we need to do more to protect our veterans after their service.
Although a fictional character, Cade gives a voice to the soldiers that return home and are unable to assimilate back into society. Whether veterans are facing pain, rage or trauma, Macomber's poignant story illustrates that compassion and kindness goes a long way to facilitate healing rather than locking it away.

I really enjoyed this book by Debbie Macomber. It was very well done and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone
This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review electronically. What can I say? Macomber is one of America’s favorite authors…she doesn’t disappoint. The characters are likable with positive attributes. Teaching high school…counseling…tending to animals…broken families…putting them back together…sadness…happiness…this book has these themes running throughout. The protagonist is taken with a man who is doing community service, a former soldier. She also counsels her high school kids when needed. Teenage angst. Promises kept and broken…this book reads like a true story…curl up a warm colorful Afghan…a cup of steaming herbal tea…and enjoy an afternoon with this book…a quick great read…heartwarming…
Many thanks to NetGalley for sending me this ARC in exchange for my objective review. I feel so grateful that, after many, many "declined" messages, I've recently received three ARCs from them.
Another great story from one of my favorite authors. This is Book 3 in her Oceanside series but it can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed this story and connected to the main characters. It was romantic, heartwarming, and sweet. I did have a little trouble relating to one of the secondary characters but that's probably because she was acting like a typical teenager and making really bad choices.
Overall, an enjoyable read; definitely on my re-read list (after I go back and read Books 1 and 2).
