one of my all time favorite authors, she never disappoints. she’s the perfect feel-good love story writer that I enjoy.

Hope is convinced to volunteer at the local animal shelter to get her more involved in the community. She quickly becomes the only human that Shadow will trust.

Cade is given a sentence of 360 days of community service and he feels that he and this abandoned dog, Shadow, are the same with injuries nobody sees and understands.

This love story is full of just sweet, kind people who want to help everyone out. I don’t want to give too much away but this one has a happy ending for these two humans and for Shadow.

I enjoyed this read and read it in one sitting, and the pages flew.
There are several stories here, as with everyday life, and the answers come as we begin to care for the characters that are presented!
Grief, yes, we move on, but it somehow always has a hold on our hearts, and add to this the trauma of war, and the reliving of events! We meet these people, and how they find each other!
We are so see the healing that dogs offer, with their unconditional love, even with abuse to the point of death, a rescued soul.
We also have high school students, dealing with peer pressure, among other things, and surprises and answers come here!
As you can see we are offered a lot in this quick read, and also a little bit of sweet romance, along with healing!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Ballentine,Books and was not required to give a positive review.

This is a good, clean and engaging story about people needing a fresh start! People overcoming grief, living for hope, and healing from the grief of past tragedies. The main characters were written with great depth that it was easy to connect and feel as though you were right there traveling with them on this journey. It took place in a small town where Hope and Cade cross paths where they both are volunteers at an animal shelter.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
4 1/2 Stars I give to this book!

Debbie Macomber’s books are always easy to read and uplifting. ‘ The Best is Yet to Come’, is no exception. A high school teacher moves to a seaside resort to start over after losing her twin brother, and ultimately finds romance.with a wounded soldier.

The best is yet to come will pull your heart strings and you'll pull for the characters to find their path to happiness.

I was so happy to become engrossed in this book from the first few pages. That happens too seldom, anymore., and I haven't been feeling quite like the avid reader I've been for almost 80 years. That said, over all, I didn't enjoy it as much as I have most ofDebbie Macomber's other novels (and I own a lot of them).

Of course, I fell in love, immediately, with Shadow (the four-legged character in the story). Shadow was only a small part of what made this so heart-warming. There was just enough elements of everything most people look for in their reading, including: love, mystery, pets, likable people, reasonable length and a good plot. There was sort of a side story involving high school students which will, surely, make this appeal to the Young Adults group.

I considered only four stars but added the fifth because of how much I appreciated a clean tale with no sex or objectionable language!

Reviewed on GoodReads and will post on other sites as soon as it is published.

always look forward to a Debbie Macomber novel to start the summer. This one does not disappoint. Hope is a high school teacher and volunteers at an animal shelter. She lost her twin brother in Afghanistan . Cade is an ex-marine who has had a run in with the law. He is dealing with injuries and feels guilty for making it out of Afghanistan. There is also a side story of a few of Hope’s students. This story has it all forgiveness, healing, a bit of mystery and romance. Thank You to NetGalley and Random House Books for the E-ARC. This is my opinion.

Hope Goodwin has moved to the coast of Washington from LA. She is alone now due to all her family passing away. Cade Lincoln is a bitter man who has been injured in service and ends up in court. The judge sends him back to PT and counseling along with community service. Hope and Cade are both volunteering at the animal shelter. A dog named Shadow comes into the shelter; he has had a hard life. Shadow doesn't trust anyone, but Hope sets out to win him over. Cade notices Hope working with Shadow; he is intrigued with her. Hope teaches at the local high school and is also a guidance counselor. Cade is slowing losing his bitterness and the PT is working on him leg. This is a great story of two people learning to let go and trust each other. I loved this story!

This book drew me in from the beginning. Debbie Macomber is a master at deep, heartwarming stories with strong characters, and this one was no different! This was an emotional and touching tale of getting a second chance, filled with love and compassion. Excellent!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Ballentine for allowing me to review this book. I am a long time Debbie Macomber reader. I saw this book come up and I instantly knew I wanted to read it. Its the story of Hope, a recent relocator and school teacher. Her landlord recommended that she volunteer at a pet shelter and that is where she meets Cade. Cade is a veteran who escaped jail time and was volunteering there for his community service hours. A love story ensues (between both Cade and Hope and Hope and a sweet pup). I highly recommend this book!

The Best is Yet to Come by Debbie Macomber is a heartwarming standalone novel. We meet Hope Godwin, our heroine, who recently moved to Oceanside, Washington, and is a teacher at the local high school. Hope lost her twin brother, and both of her parents, and hopes that this small town will take away the grief and build a new life; though she still feels like something is missing. Her landlord asks her to help out as a volunteer at his Animal shelter; soon she meets Shadow, a rescue dog, who is aggressive to anyone who approaches him. She decides to spend more time with Shadow, determined to get him to know her, and bring him out of his shell. To everyone’s surprise, Shadow slowly begins to change, learning to love Hope, with her adopting Shadow.

We also meet, Cade Lincoln, our hero, a former marine, who is in court, being sentenced in a bar fight. Cade lost his best friends during the war, which continues his despondent and angry behavior. The judge sees that he is a shell of his former self, and knows he was awarded the purple heart. She decides to give him choices; do volunteer work and therapy or go to jail for a year; Cade accepts the volunteer work, which also include counseling and therapy. Cade decides to work at the Animal shelter as part of his community service, where he will eventually meet Hope.

Cade watches how great Hope is patiently handling, Shadow, and in a short time he will open up to befriending Hope. In a short time, their friendship, helps find the courage to move toward a relationship and slowly happiness, peace and romance.

There is another storyline with Hope’s students, that she will get involved to help; but the issues are intense, with high school drama, attacks, kidnapping, as well as drugs. I really loved Hope, as she was a terrific heroine. I did like Cade, but he would jump to conclusions at times. I loved loved Shadow, who turned into an amazing and wonderful dog.

The Best is Yet to Come is a wonderful heartwarming story line, so very well written by Debbie Macomber. The story covered many issues, dealing with family, tragedy, obstacles, school issues, drugs and PDST; but Macomber gave us a great couple in a pure clean romance. I wholly suggest you read The Best is Yet to Come.

I have read dozens of Debbie Macomber's books and I was sad to hear this was her last one. I hope she really has one more to publish. I enjoyed the story, it was similar to others she has written, but overall it was good. There is a good twist to tie it all together. I will miss new books from Ms. Macomber.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me through NetGalley. This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. I just lost myself within this amazing story. I most definitely will read more by this author.

Hope Godwin moves to Oceanside, Washington for a fresh start after the death of her twin brother. She gets a teaching position at the local high school, and starts volunteering at the animal shelter, where she meets Shadow, a rescue dog that everyone has given up on. However, Hope sees something in Shadow that makes her believe Shadow is worth fighting for and can be rehabilitated. Like Shadow, shelter volunteer Cade Lincoln Jr. is suffering with injuries most can’t see. A wounded ex-marine, Cade identifies with Shadow, assuming they are both beyond help. Hope senses that what they each need is someone to believe in them, and she has a lot of love to give. As she gains Shadow’s trust, Hope notices Cade begins to open up as well. Finding the courage to be vulnerable again, Cade and Hope take steps toward a relationship, and Hope finally begins to feel at peace in her new home.

This is another great book by Ms. Macomber. This heartwarming book is about second chances, and not wasting those times when you get the opportunity to get a do-over in life.. With characters that make you feel invested in their stories, and storylines that keep you turning the pages, this is the perfect light read.

The Best Is Yet to Come is a typical Debbie Macomber novel, a small town romance filled with hope, heart, and a happily ever after. Hope is actually the name of the female main character, and she is a high school teacher in Washington State, where she has moved to to make a freaky start after the loss of her brother. Cade has moved to the same town after leaving the military, and he is struggling to recover from a combat injury and PTSD.

The characters are very likable, and I found myself rooting for them. The story was enjoyable, and I liked revisiting the town of Oceanside, which was first introduced to her readers in “Cottage by the Sea.” It is a stand-alone novel, but readers of some of her more recent books will recognize some of the other characters that you encounter in the story. I enjoyed this book greatly, Debbie Macomber never disappoints!

It is always comforting to me to delve into a Debbie Macomber book, and 'The Best is Yet to Come' is no exception. The moving power of love to heal even the most wounded is evidenced by Hope's devotion to Shadow and Cade, and in turn she ends up healing herself. I highly recommend this multilayered book to those who enjoy a small town feel with real life problems.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Loved this story. It is always wonderful to know that everyone deserves a second chance. It goes to show that people can change if they want to if they get a second chance.

Debbie Macomber is known for writing solid, sweet novels and this one is no exception. The setting is a nice oceanside town that will be loved by summer readers. The characters, Hope and Cade are drawn together by similar hurts and a love for dogs. Hope, a teacher at the local high school, gets entangled in a situation involving some of the students. I didn't care for this aspect of the novel; it gave it more of a young adult feel to the book. I'm sure most of Macomber's fans (especially dog lovers) will enjoy The Best is Yet to Come, it just wasn't for me.
