Into the mist excerpt
By PC cast

What an exciting new twist to her stories. The tease was enough to gain intrest. I need to see what caused the Green fog. Was it alien or human origin.

This is one of those times where you get to the end of the excerpt, and get mad because the book isn't out yet and you have to wait a couple of months. I really enjoyed what I've read so far.

A short excerpt of Into the Mist by P.C. Cast and I'm certainly intrigued to read more. While this excerpt of the first two chapters of the book is quite short, Cast establishes an almost mystical, atmospheric setting and a strong hook that had me going "What? It can't end there!" within 8 pages. I did find the beginning a slight bit jarring, but that's because you're thrown right into the action and into a scene with a ton of characters (some of whom will presumedly immediately die), but I don't think it'd dissuade people from reading on, especially when nuclear fallout starts by the end of chapter 2.

I think the only thing that makes me worry for the rest of book after its strong start is the main character Mercury has the potential to lean a little too hard into the Riverdale-esque "not like other girls" trope, with her (a bit overdramatic) misogynistic pig line and immediate rant about her Paganism. These could be non-issues as the rest of the book goes on but they did spark a little bit of concern that I'd end up finding her a bit grating by the end of the book.

This is just the excerpt but it got me extremely excited to read the whole book. I can’t wait to read it. The author does an excellent job getting your attention from the very beginning!

I never read a book by P. C. cast before and now i think I have been missing out. This excerpt already made me curious to see the rest of the story since the story doesnt take long to the action start (and this is great to help me out of a slump!) and its already exciting and It ended on a mini cliffhanger. I now want to go take a look to the authors backlog and Im sure I will want to read this as soon as it comes out!

Into The Mist by P.C. Cast was an exciting excerpt that invited me to learn more about the after effects of the explosions and mysterious green mist described in the opening scenes of the book. I can't wait to read more this July when the book comes out!

I have never read a P.C. Cast book before reading this excerpt and now I feel like I’ve been missing out on so much! The story draws you in right away and keeps you engaged. I can tell that the rest of this book is going to be magical.

Thank you to P.C. Cast, the publisher, and to Netgalley for the chance to read this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was a really quick and to the point excerpt . With this you will get the first two chapters of the book introducing the characters and how the plot begins to unravel .

I rally liked that the author wasted NO time jumping right in , the ending of chapter two left me wanting more .

I will definitely be looking for Into the Mist when it officially releases .

This excerpt has me very curious for more. It’s short, so I don’t know much about the characters, but it seems like a group of teachers on a road trip are witnesses to a horrible supernatural event that causes the main character to lose consciousness. What was it? What happened? I can’t wait to learn more.

I'm so excited for this book to be out in the world! Once again P.C. Cast blows me away with her writing! I can't wait to get my hands on the full book.

I would probably preorder the book regardless because I am such a sucker for post-apocalyptic / dystopian / sci-fi (still unsure what genre this book is). But now I MUST preorder because I need to know what the green mist is.

While I appreciated the scene-setting, I wish I had more information about even one of the characters so I would be more attached to them at this point. But just the fact that they are teachers makes me think I will like them.

As I only read the excerpt via NetGalley this will not be my usual review.

The excerpt alone has me intrigued enough that I'm going to preorder the book.

Here's hoping it remains as decent as the excerpt.

It’s not what I expected and I was hoping for more a sneak peek. With what I read, and it was quite limited (only two chapters), I would give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars. it left me in a big cliff hanger.

I am a longtime fan of cast and so I was really excited to see her back with a new duology, and a dystopian at that! I had high expectations going into this one and they were definitely met. Honestly I think cast does a great job on female empowerment in her stories and this one with men being no more just highlighted strong women so well. I can’t wait to see where this duology will go in it’s conclusion!

I wish I could read more of this book to give it a proper review, but so far, I like what I see in this ARC

It seems like the main cast of characters, as of now, consists of 5-7? teachers going on a roadtrip for their summer break in Oklahoma when multiple huge explosions go off, hitting the group.

My first critique is that I have absolutely no idea who each person is. There are many names: Mercury, Stella, Mrs. Gay, Mr. Hale, Amelia, Coach Davis, and they tend to all blend into each other. I got very lost and didn’t know who was who. Additionally, they are often referred to by their profession, like “the principal” while I don’t know who the principal is. Mr. Hale? Since this scene takes place in the beginning of the book, I wish we focused on one character originally. My vote is for Mercury since it seems like this is written in her point of view. I don’t know much about her other than she loves Oklahoma and is an AP Biology teacher. She tended to get drowned out with the rest of the cast, even ones who don’t seem as important.

Similarly, I wish there was a little more show. The explosion was written well but I wanted to know how Mercury felt—did her heart race? Did she anxiously look around? What does she, and the the other characters, do in the face of danger?

This book does seem very interesting based on the description as well as a green explosion! How cool! Overall, I wish there was more description on the characters to set them apart from one another, maybe even a physical description other than pregnancy? Is this my favorite start of a book? No. But I am looking forward to potentially reading the rest when it comes out so I can really get a feel of the characters, plot, and setting.

I loved PC Cast's House of Night series, so I'm always curious to see what she writes next. I unfortunately did not enjoy her Sisters of Salems series (I read the first and couldn't bring myself to read the second). I wanted to view the Into the Mists excerpt to see if it was worth reading, but I wasn't that intrigued. I think I'm just a fan of her original House of night series, and her other works fall flat for me
