Drawing Dimensions - Shading is instructional for beginning and intermediate artists wanting to improve their shading techniques to give their two-dimensional work depth and volume. Holmes' focus is on rendering methods using graphite and pen and ink, with the later instructing artist on stippling and cross-hatch drawing. The author uses a question and answer format throughout the book which I found helpful while using the book.
