If this had been a Hallmark movie I would have enjoyed watching this on the couch on a sick day. I did not feel the title matched the context of the book.

The book is cute, the characters are sweet and I did enjoy learning everything I did about turtles. Something I didn't expect was for the male lead Grant to fall so quickly for Molly and it was nice and refreshing to see that as most of the romances I read are from the females perspective or if from the males view its a hate to love situation. Also nice touch with the recipe included after the final chapter.

However this book was not for me. It felt like I was dropped mid story at the start and everything felt rushed in the plot. I would have liked to have seen more of a relationship between Claire and Grant as they seem to have such a strong bond and are close but we get very limited interaction which felt unnatural for a brother who moved back to the town to look after his sister.

This was the perfect light-hearted, easy beach read. Molly takes a job covering a maternity leave for a local veterinarian for a few months in a small coastal town in Florida. There, she meets wildlife rehabilitationist Grant who has a sea turtle sanctuary nearby and he needs Molly’s help. Over the course of Molly’s contract, she and Grant get closer and they save a few turtles along the way too.

I really enjoyed this book. It was an all around general feel-good, slow-burn, summer read.

Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley for the advanced e-read copy in exchange for an honest review!

"If only broken hearts were like turtle shells, and all it took to heal them was a little bit of honey."
Wanting to be more adventurous and spontaneous, Molly comes to Emerald Cove, Florida as a short term veterinarian. Soon she meets Grant Torres, the sea turtle rescue & rehab director who has an offer for her...

I enjoyed this Hallmark story. Molly needed a few new friends when she moved to the Emerald Coast, and she found them in her neighbors and Grant. Reading about turtle rescues was fascinating and reading about the location (where I live) was fun.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!

This one of those reads you don’t you are in desperate need of beefier you end up going into a reading slump. ‘Cause wow I just couldn’t seem to put it down, not only it was entertaining and enjoyable but also I loved how flawed and real both the MCs are. It’s a definite 5 stars read for me!!

Sweet contemporary story of friendship and love. Traveling Veterinarian Molly Lawrence finds herself in the gorgeous beach town of Emerald Cove, Florida where she’ll fill in for the local vet who’s on maternity leave. Freshly hurt from a bad relationship, Molly has no plans for romance. Then she meets Grant Torres, director of the local Turtle Rescue and Rehab Center. The turtles steal her heart, and her developing friendship with Grant is nice. Gavin has a chance to work at his dream job, and Molly has a chance to love again.

The characters are wonderful and inviting making this novel a pleasure to read and relax with. The beach setting and the sailboat brought thoughts of weekend beach trips with the smell of suntan lotion and breezy, salty air. The turtles are endearing and I absolutely loved the great ending! What a great book! Thank you, Hallmark.

I honestly reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing. All opinions are my own.

Molly has come to Emerald Cove, Florida as a short term veterinarian. What she finds there is the small town feeling of belonging. She gets to witness small miracles with nature and adventure with the help of Grant who owns the local turtle rescue. As they go on adventures and save one turtle at a time, their bond gets stronger. But with opportunities elsewhere, will Molly and Grant get to see if there is something to build on, or will they go their separate ways? Will they take this chance and take the leap, or will they let it go by them?

I live in Florida…I enjoyed this sweet cozy beach read…quirky characters…new beginnings…love gained and love lost…turtles…Hallmark movie reading…this is a quick fun read…the story moves somewhat slowly at times, but no sense in rushing romance…this book was sent to me by Netgalley for a review…

Both Molly Lawrence, travel veterinarian, and Grant Torres, sea turtle rescue & rehab director are torn between unexpected and surprise plans and the new potential with sparkling chemistry between them. Rachel Magee and Hallmark Publishing have a winner with this fun, unique and sweet happily ever after.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

If you haven’t laid hands on the book yet, here’s your clue to stop reading. This review has spoilers.

This book was one of my slowest reads. I had a hectic schedule this week but even in the past when I’ve wanted to read a book in a hectic schedule, I’ve done it way quicker than this one. The plot wasn’t generic, per se, but it didn’t have enough power to keep you hooked. It’s not DNF material, it is actually good if you ask me, but you don’t want to miss anything for it. Initially, I loved where this was going, and it was actually endearing how simple Grant and Molly’s relationship was. And the turtles, oh those cute creatures, they were actually my favorite characters, if you ask me. But as the story progressed, it was, well, a little boring. On Mateo’s part, I felt he should’ve told Grant about his conversation with Molly. No, not to create a drama, but maybe, it would’ve helped them a lot. Mateo did it to protect his friend, and Grant would’ve understood, because Molly did too, but the confrontation would probably have been better.

On Claire’s part, I think we should’ve seen her and Lance more. I know it was all so hectic for her because of the wedding, but it felt like she abandoned, or somehow forgot, that Grant existed, for most part of the book. It was the best brother-sister relation when the book began but it faded as quickly. The book was well collected and the story was nice, too. But somehow, it felt like there were a lot of loose ends that could’ve been tied and the characters seemed rather disheveled and disconnected.

Dear Hallmark: Please make this book into a movie, and please cast Ryan Paevey to be Grant!!

This is the perfect easy, summer beach read for 2022! It's got a slow burn romance, new friends, new jobs, a whole new life...and sea turtles!! It's a sweet, small town romance set on the coast of Florida.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

A vacation in a book! Wanting to get to Florida, but can't because of 'rona? This sweet romance will leave you feeling like you've taken a virtual vacation...complete with field trip to the sea turtle rehab center (one of my favorite parts). The interim vet finds herself thrust into working with animals she is unsure about, but ends up finding her place. I almost feel like this would be a better movie than book. As it's Hallmark, I"m sure we'll see...

I truly love this book! It was such a cute, romantic, and fun story that had me feeling giddy. Reading all of Floridian scenery and beach details, I found myself yearning for a beach vacation. I was rooting not only for Dr. Molly Lawrence but for all of the sea turtles in the rehab center.

Book tropes: slow-burn romance, friends-to-lovers, swoon-worthy love interest, process of healing, second chances.

Dr. Molly Lawrence, fleeing a failed engagement, accepts an interim job as a visiting veterinarian at a clinic in Emerald Cove, Florida. The last thing she wanted was to set roots in a temporary place, feeling the need to keep people at arms length and not getting attached. She soon meets charming Grant Torres, director of the rehabilitation center for injured turtles. He brings her a new patient, a sea turtle in need of a physical exam to expedite his release back into the ocean. Grant explains that the vet she’s currently standing in for works closely with their rehabilitation center. After some persuading from the staff and very cute turtles, Molly agrees to a similar working relationship with the center. Through her time at Emerald Cove, she learns a lot about herself, relationships, hope, and learning to trust others again. What comes next for this veterinarian, whose end date for her current assignment is fast approaching?

I loved how sweet this book was. I loved the healing nature of the story and how the readers could see the heroine processing grief and loss of a relationship and the life she knew, and how she learned to embrace life and new adventures fully. I loved that the small town of Emerald Cove was a sanctuary for sea turtles but also for genuinely nice individuals, a community of people that support one another. I loved the friendly neighbors that included Molly in their early coffee ritual and how they developed a best friendship. I admired all of the small things in this book that made it such a feel-good story. A great book, highly recommend!
