Audiobook of this novel.
I have read a number of this authors books which I really enjoyed so I was looking forward to reading this one. I was really disappointed with this one as it was really slow and not really that gripping at all and not much of a storyline.
The 2 narrators were good and made the story easy to listen too
Well, I stopped this book for quite sometime because I couldn’t get into it. However, I recently started it back up and regret DNFing it at first!
Once you really get into it, you are hanging on every word trying to figure out who killed Katherine and why! There were a lot of twists and you couldn’t trust any of the characters.
I definitely recommend this read, it was twisty and after getting into it a bit, it picks up a great pace!
Missed the ability to read this book
Still very excited to read this and will purchase it to read
3 out of 5 stars
The who done it? in books is my favorite. I was invested in the story after a couple of chapters. The thriller I needed after a few fantasy books.
As always Kerry Wilkinson keeps you gripped
I did not guess who it was
If you want a who dunnit this is it
Thank you netgalley, Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture (Audio)
I'm a huge fan of a locked room mystery, and this title by Kerry Wilkinson did not disappoint! The characters were great and there were lots of threads tying them together that made it not entirely clear who had the motive to do harm to whom. Some of my early suspicions were correct, but I never could have guessed how things played out and thoroughly enjoyed all the twists
I listened to the audiobook version of this title and thought the narration was great and really kept the story engaging.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
Hannah is planning to move away and throws a going away party where her sisters, aunt, mom, and best friends show up.
Only thing is the next morning someone is dead.
The entire book is about discovering who killed them and why.
It kept me on my toes and wanting to keep listening. Just when you think you know you are completely wrong. There were a lot of red herrings and looking back now I think to myself, how did I not guess it?!
It’s definitely a book where people might be able to guess the twist, but I guess I was too involved to really pay attention 😂
Definitely recommend worth the read if you are in the mood for a “who dun it” thriller!
Kerry Wilkinson always knows how to deliver a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. This delivered that right from the very start. This was a nail biting suspense thriller that keeps you guessing the whole time. It wasn't until the very end that I was able to start piecing together what happened. I can't wait to read Kerry's next one if it's anything like this.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I never got any notification of being approved for this ARC and the first I knew of it was when I saw it in the archived folder.
This book had real potential but in the end I was left disappointed as really not a lot happened! A party, a death, an investigation, a revelation. It should have given more. I listened to the audio version and did so on 1.25 speed or else it would have been even more drawn out. I didn't like any of the characters really, which also didn't help. Overall it was Ok for when I was busy around the house but not one I would jump to recommend.
Started off a bit slow and because it was an audio book I kept getting distracted and having to go back to keep track of the storyline
It did get better with a few unexpected twists and I never saw the final twist coming so I liked that but again I missed the "who dunnit" part in the chapter a couple of times and had to go back till I found it a couple of times
Maybe this is a better read or audio
Great narration and good beginning but a bit of a slow burn after that. A well-written and narrated mystery but not as fast-paced as I was hoping for. But still an entertaining and well-performed listen that will please fans of the genre.
Hmmm, it was ok, I found it really slow, and because all of the characters were so unlikeable I didn't really care what happened to them. I found the actions of Hannah’s mother hard to accept and was unable to empathize with her. This book was highly unbelievable from start to finish.
The intrigue kept me on my toes. The narrator did a wonderful job in acting out and expressing everyone’s thought. It was a bit slow in some areas but caught up in the pace towards the middle.
Three stars for keeping my attention up until the last page, a surprise or two in the plot, and good narration, but I can't say that I thoroughly enjoyed The Party At Number 12 or that I'd highly recommend it. A thriller has to make some sort of sense for me to recommend it, and this one just doesn't, I'm afraid, and at the end, I felt the story fell flat.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for the Audiobook.
Gripping writing, twisty story with an ending I didn't see coming! Bit of a slow burner to start with but picked up
The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson was well narrated by Tamsin Kennard and Andrew Kingston, as my Audiobook of choice whilst pottering with household chores.
Who wants a dead body to be discovered at their going-away party?! Not Hannah, that’s for sure. She was supposed to be embarking on a long trip at the end of the week, but who knows whether that will happen now?
The thing that I don’t get with a lot of crime fiction/thrillers is how the random person in the street thinks it’s acceptable to try to solve a crime themselves rather than involve the police! Do they really think it’s going to work out for the best for all involved?
Anyway, regardless of this, The Party at Number 12 was a great listen. I didn’t see the ending coming at all and I was kept guessing throughout.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen to and review an ARC of The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson.
This audiobook was a nice surprise.
I am not really sure what I had expected, but the story held me in a tight grip throughout.
As a classic whodunnit mystery it works - and the quite surprising plot twist, well... That is just an added bonus.
I would definitely recommend this to the readers of classic mystery novels.
And as for the narration - top marks from me... I loved it!
Hannah throws herself a fancy going away party before she departs on the trip of a lifetime. She’s rented a gorgeous 4-bedroom house for her friends and family to help her celebrate. Even though not everyone gets along, everyone seems to enjoy their night. However, the next morning one of the guests is found dead in her bed. Everyone at the party has a reason to be afraid to go to the police or someone in the group they want to protect. After all, it must have been an accident, and no one will come looking for the person that died.
This was my first Kerry Wilkinson book, and it certainly won’t be my last. I was drawn into this book from the beginning. I found the twists and turns shocking. I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the book as I read to find out how Hannah’s party guest died. It was not an ending I saw coming.
“The Party at No. 12” is a must-read thriller that will keep you wondering until the shocking ending.
Hannah is going away travelling after her divorce, and her family decides to throw her a going away party. They decide to rent a large house to celebrate Hannah, and invite their closest family and friends. Hannah runs into an old friend of hers at the grocery store, and on a whim, invites her to the party. This old friend and Hannah's other friends and family have some old wounds that haven't been healed, even with the passing of time. The party goes well, but in the morning, one of the women is dead!
Hannah thinks they should call the police, but everyone at the party has some secrets they are hiding that they don't want to spill out, so they decide to take matters into their own hands, not realizing that the deceased woman has someone close to her who is determined to find out the truth.
This book was a wild ride, and I enjoyed making my own predictions as to what really happened at the party. This book was well written and filled with plenty of red herrings to throw the reader off. I definitely will read more from this author in the future. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this title.
