I am hopelessly addicted to this unique, twisty series. The first book drew me in but, wow, this book takes the reader to a whole new level of intrigue, making it impossible to put down. The writing is slick and crisp, and the characters seem to jump off the page. It's also so refreshing to read about an anti-heroine you actually want to root for. Can't wait for the next book so I can continue to follow Gia on her captivating escapades!
I am in love with this series and glad i get to come back all the time. I need more of this book and all the love they have. Good read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the second book in this Mermaid series. Honestly, I requested it because of my love for mermaids and also Italy/NYC (which is book 3).
It was a quick and easy read starting almost immediately where book 1 left off. Our mermaid is trying to hide from the paparazzi as rumors swirl around the disappearance of the man she loves. Of course, we never really know if she is to be blamed but new characters are brought in who take the story to a different level.
It wasn't my favorite read but it was enjoyable enough that I need to read the 3rd book to find out what happens next.
The glamorous Gia Acquaviva struggles to maintain her freedom and hold onto her business empire. A Sicilian mob boss nips at her tail, hoping to lure her into his sick fantasies. Meanwhile, the global media hunts Gia, attempting to hold her accountable for a string of murders. Can the world’s most famous mermaid escape their net, or will she be caught?
Dive into the extremely glamorous life of Gia Acquaviva, an ultra-rich Venetian mogul with a portfolio of clubs and casinos around the globe. Gia harbors dark secrets––and an underwater graveyard filled with the bones of her former lovers.
Her family’s roots descend from the mythological sirens of ancient Greece, but she's taken every precaution to protect her anonymity and the existence of other mermaids. Gia lures in men with a beguiling façade, but inside lurks a deeply troubled soul, severely damaged by a mysterious past.
Fans of Killing Eve and Big Little Lies will love Mermaid of Sicily, a sexy psychological thriller with lush fantasy elements. The chic mystery and European hot spots of Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley with a juicy splash of the lavish lifestyle in E. L. James’s 50 Shades series. This is not the Little Mermaid you grew up with. Gia's out for blood.
Mermaid of Sicily is the second installment in a series of 6 books about Gia Acquaviva.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC
Mediocre just like the first book. I'm really sorry for not liking this book. The blurbs really looks interesting but it's flat and bland.
Oo as I kept on reading the books in this series it kept pulling me into it more and more. I sincerely couldn't put it down. Highly recommend this book. 5 star book. Already told a few people that they need to read this book. Plan on rereading this book next year.
This one I was able to finish unlike 1st book. The plot was easy to follow and had more mystery. I felt that this pace of this book was slow. I couldnt get into the story and connect to the characters.
Check TW- Sexual abuse, murder
Thank you NetGalley and publishers for this book for an honest review.
The description pulled me in and at first it seemed great. But it was really hard to connect to the characters of what was supposed to a Romance (?) when it was written in third person and seemed very clinical. It was written very cut and dry. The story itself wasn’t too bad, but when it got to the part where Gia takes her BF to the mermaid world, it got weird and felt like a different book. The two parts where completely disconnected. I don’t think I’ll be continuing with the story.

Fun, quick, and easy to follow! A cute series for summer. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review the novel.
Gia's life has been turned upside down and she doesn't have any control, everything is falling apart and she has to simply witness it all.
Even though the narrative keep shifting between the year is still seems so seamless, the short chapters are definitely a highlight of the book.
I really enjoyed reading this mystery/thriller fantasy. And it helps that it's humorous too
#mermaidofsicily is a novel that I could not put down. A rollar coaster of a book with multiple ups and downs. A must add to your thriller TBR list🤓📚❤️
I learned to love the story. The plot is so unique. This one of the best mystery-thriller and fantasy book in my reading list. I must say that Jincey Lumpkin aced this genre. I am looking forward to buy the rest of the series to support the author and the publisher itself. Thank you so much for this copy.
Once again I thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me read this.
I loved the first book already and this one as well. All that happened with Gia and her rescue had me on edge and I read the book in one afternoon.
Really enjoying this story and I'm starting book 3 tonight or tomorrow.
"Do not see yourself as the monster under the bed".
The second installment in the Mermaid of Venice series, Mermaid of Cicily, was another good one.
After finishing the first book, I was upset because a character I really liked, died. And then all of a sudden, there he was in book 2, I was so excited!
Everything I loved in the first book, got transfered to the second. The fast pact, the intrigue, the romance. New characters were added and I must say, I didn't expect to like this new married couple, but their personalities complemented each other. Oumar darling.....oh my Oumar!
Another good installment in this series and still.... I have to know what"s next for our femme fatale Gia.
1.5 stars
This book frustrated me so much.
Gia is possibly the worst serial killer ever.
She wasn't even the main character in her book because she did nothing but whine and said she was going to "do this or do that" but in the end, she was saved and everyone else fixed her problems.
Plus she's horrible as a person(?) I don't get what they see in her because she has no personality besides being beautiful and a mermaid.
The villain was supposed to be scary and a psychopath and in the beginning, I could see that but then it became a caricature of a villain.
Overall this was not for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I picked up all three books in this series after reading the back cover blurb and being very intrigued by the unique mermaid premise. I went into it thinking that it was going to be a wild romantic action adventure but I was very wrong. This is not the little mermaid grown up. This book is a dark psychological thriller with a killer siren as it’s main character. Gia lives an ultra extravagant life in Venice, but despite the modern woman persona she displays she cannot escape her bloodline. The ancient siren blood causes the bloodlust she feels, leading her to kill her lovers.
The secret existence of mermaids was exposed in book one and Gia is now on the run for her past murders. As a character Gia has grown on me. She’s a very interesting dichotomy of dark and light, a fabulously intricate person. Like the first, this story was fast paced, and was full of twists and turns plus a Sicilian mob boss. I’m not usually a thriller fan and it wasn’t what I expected at all but I did ultimately enjoy it enough to read book three and see where Gia’s story takes her.
Let me start by saying Signor Quintilio Mosca, there’s a special place is hell for you, so I hope you like the heat.
Thanks again to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me to once again read the second installment of Gia’s life.

~ Spoiler-ish Review ~
Just like the first book, a body is found, only there's a promise of revenge.
Gia is back, but she’s currently fighting for her life because of the fallout of her cousin’s actions and the consequences of being a femme fatale. And damn she's going through changes, both physically, mentally, emotionally, hell even spiritually.
Little does she know that losing her empire isn’t the only thing that was possible at this point. She was about to lose the one thing she’s fought for her entire life, the one thing that was a pushing force for her to resort to murder whenever her lovers got too close. She was about to lose her freedom because someone who’s just as powerful but more ruthless than her has his eyes on her, and that’s our dear Signor Q, an obsessive psychopath.
I feel like it’s on brand that a man is so… ENTITLED. Jesus, that man pissed me off from he made an appearance in the first book, and it was for good reason too. The fact that he doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and that he’s willing to watch the world burn for what he wants, and I don’t mean that in the way most villains will burn the world to keep their lover warm, it’s more that he would use his lover as kindle to start the flame.
Anyways I’m ranting, I enjoyed this book more because romance wasn’t one of the main themes, it was more of a subplot. I’m not saying I’m a romance hater, I just don’t like scenarios where I can’t see where said romance come from, especially the one that was described between Cam and Gia in the first book. The groundbreaking, passionate, staring into the depth of each other souls kind of love. And this point is further proven when Cam runs for life leaving Gia when he stumbles across one of her secrets, you’d think that if he just ASKED, if he just trusted her the way he claimed to (later confirmed he didn't really trust her), he would’ve at least heard her side and then made his decision, but no, he really 🏃🏽♂️ ran for his life.
I like the glimpses of Gia's past that we get. It really shows that she's a shark and the different people we meet.
Okay, I'll stop giving a play by play.
Harper really popped off in this one though, I liked that at the end of the day she looked at the hard facts, and didn't focus on her feelings. I liked that she also stepped away from her weirdo parents because they're... totally unhinged. Totally living in their own world, but very interesting characters when you look at the fact they're rich people, and rich people tend to experience life completely different from middle/lower class. Did I mention that they were total weirdos?
All in all, again a good read which I thoroughly enjoyed. .
Gia Acquaviva is back - and this time she needs to outwit a mafia boss and the Langleys, while navigating being a pregnant mermaid excommunicated from her colony.
I liked it (3 stars in my book means liked). Wow. The second book in the Mermaid series was a fast-paced read. The villain was off the charts terrible (and thus, a great villain). It takes a pretty big villain to make Gia openly rethink her life choices, and Q delivers in spades. You really felt the tension and I absolutely sped through the book to see what happened.
If you liked the first one, you won't be disappointed with this one. I'm anxious to read the next installments to see what's next.
Trigger warnings: sexual assault, torture, violence, murder
Gia Acquaviva is a beautiful and rich Venetian woman with a portfolio of clubs and casinos around the globe. She also has some dark secrets - she's a mermaid and an keeps an underwater graveyard filled with the bones of her former lovers. Her family’s roots descend from the mythological sirens of ancient Greece, but she’s taken every precaution to protect her anonymity and the existence of other mermaids. Unfortunately, her secrets are starting to come out. Her first true love and father of her unborn child has been murdered. The authorities and the public suspect her of of murdering not only him, but a few of her other past lovers. She did, but still. Her business empire is under attack. And she's being hunted by a crazed Sicilian mob boss who's intent on making her a spectacle and revealing the existence of her kind.
I'm so glad I took a chance on this book series - I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I was too intrigued by the comparison to Killing Eve to pass it up. Mermaid of Sicily is the second book in the Mermaid of Venice series, and each book is a novella or short novel that serves as a chapter for our main character in whichever city the action is taking currently set. I really liked how easy these books are easy to pick up and read in just one evening without interruption. They are very fast-paced, so there isn't a lot of words spent building up the action or scenery, but I didn't really mind the lack of excessive page space spent on pretty words. The characters still felt well-developed and the scene set. I also got a bit of an underlying current (no pun intended!) of earth conservation and climate change.
I appreciate the opportunity to review this book, thank you Netgalley and the publisher. I requested to review this series on Netgalley, after attempting to read the first book and having to DNF due to the dialogue that made me cringe and the mulitple unnecessary sex scenes in the first 10 chapters. I have a very high expectation I would DNF this book too as they are apart of the same series and written so close together they're likely very similar. Again I appreciate the opportunity, and hope that there are other readers who will enjoy this series - unfortunately that is not me.
