Detective Madison Harper is back with another case!! This is the fourth book of the Detective Madison Harper series.
Terri Summers was found dead with a single gun shot wound on her head. The initial suspect was her boyfriend, Troy but Detective Madison Harper soon finds out that Troy may not be responsible for the murder. Then she finds out that her colleague, Detective Douglas had committed suicide but eventually, when doing further autopsies, there was no gun powder residue on his fingers, which implied that he may have been murdered as well. Meanwhile, Nate was given to solve the cold missing case of Vince's wife, Ruby and the grandson Oliver who disappeared few years ago. But when Nate was rundown my a vehicle, Madison realize that Ruby's disappearance is connected to the murders of Terri and Douglas. Madison must find the killer before it's too late.
I have so much good points about this book. Wendy Dranfield is a talented psychological thriller author--I read her standalone novel The Birthday Party which had me hooked into the story from the beginning to the end. Same goes to this as well. A page turner, unexpected twists and thrills along followed by an unexpected twisted end! I was literally kept at the edge of my seat as I was reading this book and almost stayed up all night reading the book!
If you haven't read Madison Harper series yet, I suggest you read from the first book as some past revealations are mentioned in the book, so as a reader you would not be completely lost.
Overall, a page turner that will keep you up all night--worth five stars!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Loved every book in this series and this book was just as great. I’ve grown to love the main characters and their triumphs are my triumphs I’m so invested in their ever evolving storylines. Another major chapter in their story is now resolved and I will be waiting not so patiently for the next book in this series to devour. Wendy Dranfield really knows how to write a compelling murder mystery. A winner every time.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc
Another enjoyable read in the series. The main characters are likeable, smart and courageous. Plot was interesting,, what is the connection between a cold case where a woman and her grandson have been missing for years and current murders if any. This could be read as a stand alone, but has more depth if you read the whole series and see Nate and Madison's relationship evolve
Considered a must-read since right after I read the previous 3 books in the series last year, this 4th installment has entirely lived up to my high expectations. I was very happy to be back to Lost Creek, Colorado with Detective Madison Harper (soon called to investigate a new murder), her PI friend Nate Monroe (working on a cold case mentioned in the previous book) and other familiar characters including Brody the ex-police dog.
As usual, the short chapters made it very easy to decide to read "one more" several times in a row when I should have been doing something else, and I greatly enjoyed all the twists and turns.
If you're new to the series, I would recommend reading it in order of publication (Shadow Falls first, then Cry for Help, then Little Girl Taken before this new book) because mentions of previous events would spoil the other books' plots if you started with this one, but if you're the kind of reader who doesn't mind that, I don't think you would have trouble understanding the situations.
I am really enjoying this series by Wendy, so much pain in their lives. Glad Madison’s Dad has come on the scene.
Well done.📖📖
Trigger warning for those who have trouble with suicide. Now on to my thoughts. Man this book hit the ground running and didn't let up even to the very last page. Which is what I love about this series. The questions kept coming even when I thought had it it figured out. The characters came back stronger then ever before. And the author wrote an amazing story line that was twisted, as well as complicated but in away that it pulled the readers into the story and made them work towards who was the killer .
Another gripping and well written book by Wendy Dranfield. Detective Madison Harper is called out on Thanksgiving for murder of a female found in bed and covered in blood. Victim is Terry Sommer a local healthcare worker and primary suspect is her boyfriend at first. Tragedy strikes at the same time when one to Madison team dies sending the team spinning. Her PI best-friend Nate is working on a cold case of the disappearance of Ruby and Oliver who are the wife and grandson of local diner owner Vince who hired him to work the case. Vince is hoping for closure after all these years. Madison is burning the candle at both ends trying to solve the case and spend time with her son and Nate. I could not put it down and ended up staying up late to finish. This book had some many twists and surprises. I was never sure who really murdered who until the end.
Highly recommend! 5 stars!
Received this book for my honest review from Netgalley.
I just can't get enough of this series, another fantastic fast paced brilliant book, I absolutely devoured this in one sitting. I love all the characters, great storyline with loads of twist, I can't wait for the next installment.
Little Girl Taken, Cry for Help and Shadow Falls are all amazing books in this wonderful, chilling series.
The fourth book in the Madison Harper series is one to get excited over.
This series just gets better and better. This book is a guaranteed page turner, well written that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, I thoroughly enjoyed every page and what a brilliant ending it turned out to be.

“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Bookouture,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my platforms, blog, B&N and Waterstone closer to pub date.
People who are, just like me, hooked on this author’s books know we have been introduced to Vince previously. We also know he what he has been dealing with and I was wondering when the mystery would be unravelled. Well, it seems like the time is now. Yeah! 😊
Because the police has given up searching and everything is now catalogued as a cold case, Nate decides to help his friend and tries to find out what has been going on.
Madison, on the other hand, has a lot to deal with too. A murder case with zero clues and a devastating event that touches her personally are thrown at her.
Someone is not happy with how things go and they don’t want this cold case to be reopened. The only thing they can do about that is stopping Nate…
Case closed? You would think so, but that’s when Maddison decides to take over.
Sorry, bad guys. It seems like your time has run out. Maddison won’t stop until she has you where you belong: behind bars for a very long time.
Another brilliant book that made me forget everything around me. 5 stars
Thank you
OMG! This book is sooooo dang good! Wendy Dranfield certainly put her heroine, Madison Harper, through the ringer on this book! Whilst Madison is investigating the murder of a local woman, Nate decides to take on the case of a missing grandmother and grandson for his friend, Vince. What ensues is an incredibly written and TWISTED tale for Madison and Nate to unravel. And excellent supporting case along with top-notch storytelling, Gone to Her Grave is such a fantastic novel that should not be missed. And,... there's so much more! I can't wait to see where Ms. Dranfield takes Madison, Nate, Owen... and so many more next! Thank you to Bookoverture for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own... but do not miss reading this book!
In this latest entry in the Detective Madison Harper series, Madison and her team need to find the killer of a woman named Terri who was discovered dead in her home, shot in her bedroom. Everyone in her life knew her to be a gentle soul, and can't imagine who on earth would have done this to her. The best they can speculate is that it was her boyfriend, considered to be a loser and undeserving of a partner as sweet as Terri. He appears to have an alibi, but that doesn't mean he is innocent. Almost as soon as the investigation starts, a serious blow is dealt when a team member is found deceased. Madison will do whatever it takes to prove these crimes are linked and to stop any further destruction.
Meanwhile, Madison's good PI friend, Nate, is looking into the disappearances of the wife and grandson of Vince, the beloved owner of the town's diner. Ruby and Oliver vanished six years ago and the town has always feared the worst. People have been torn between supporting Vince and suspecting him. Nate warns him that he will go where the evidence takes him, even if it points to his client or other members of their family. One way or another, justice will prevail.
I loved this story, and it was so satisfying to finally learn what happened to Vince's family. It's quite an emotional book, and as usual, you're left wanting more. I can't wait for the next one!
This series just keeps getting better! Book 4 in the Madison Harper series did NOT disappoint. I love the character growth and the character dynamics. I was left wanting more and I can't wait to see what is in store for Madison and Nate next.
Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.
Holy Cannoli…
This series is so dang good. I could not put this book down. What a fantastic, twisted, complicated crime mystery thriller. There were also times I cried. This author is so talented.
This series is a favorite of mine. Madison, Nate, Owen and all the gang make this series. And I’m excited with the addition of the new character. And I was sad for the loss.
If you are a fan of Lisa Regan, Stacy Green, Angela Marsons to name a few then you MUST read this series.
