I am a long-standing Josie Quinn fan. This woman has been through some of the worst things imaginable and somehow still keeps going. She is quite the inspiration. This book however is more about Chief Chitwood.

Chief Chitwood has been at the department for a while now but he’s been a bit of a closed book. In this instalment, we get to see how Bob Chitwood became the man he is. I really felt for the Chief in this book. Up to now, he’s just been a bit of a pain for Josie and the team but here we really get to see who he is and how proud he really is of the team. He may be hard on them at times but he just wants to make sure they do things right.

Lisa, as always does an excellent job of hooking you right in. This book is fast-paced and so easy to read. I managed to read half the book in pretty much one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. I would have read all night if I wasn’t still recovering from COVID.

This book is another excellent addition to the series and I’m already eagerly awaiting the next! Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour.

A favorite series! 📚🤩 This story centers around Josie’s chief of police and his backstory involving his sister twenty years before—1994.

Present day—It’s prom night when Det. Josie Quinn is called to one of the local high schools to investigate the death of an unidentified teen girl. No one has a clue who she is.

Before—The book then travels back in time three months earlier introducing us to a new narrator. This is where it gets incredibly dark, foreboding, and claustrophobic in feels (giving me spine-tingling chills). It centers around someone you don’t know yet.. and as the story unfolds you get more of the sinister circumstances this person is in. Lisa Reagan can’t go wrong by keeping you in the dark on who this person is, it only adds to the fear of being completely terrified for her. Oh how I love when a story can make you feel something emotionally. Lisa Reagan certainly did that!

This immersive, edge-of-your-seat, suspense-driven tale has cemented this series on my yearly pre-order list. Watch Her Disappear is not to be missed. It’s her best book yet!

*Thanks to Bookouture via NetGalley for kindly approving an arc for my honest review.

Number 14 in the series and still as fresh as a daisy. I really enjoy this series but this book was a step the normal. The main plot is a brilliant mystery thriller with young girls turning up dead just ahead of their sixteenth birthday’s. There is a great connection to one of the characters we’d yet to get much insight into and there’s a fabulous twist at the end. It’s a huge credit to the author that as this is a long running series this book has no staleness, in fact while the character development is excellent, it could well be, to a newcomer, a completely new series. The characters we know and love are all there but they are almost secondary to the fantastic plot. Excellent writing, great story and an excellent addition to this cracking good series

The girl’s prom dress, the color of champagne, shimmers in the dying light. A corsage of wilting pink sweetheart roses decorates her wrist. She is perfectly still, lying on the ground like a delicate china doll, trapped forever in a sleep from which she will never wake…
When a call comes in about a young girl found dead at a high school prom—her life drained away from a fatal stab wound—Detective Josie Quinn drops everything to attend the scene. Taking in the girl’s neatly braided hair, Josie feels a flicker of recognition. But no one comes forward to identify this innocent child, murdered on what should have been the happiest night of her life.
Trawling missing persons files, Josie realizes where she has seen the girl before. Gemma Farmer disappeared a few months ago, shattering her family. But why would her body appear now, on her sixteenth birthday? Josie’s only clue is the five neat little cuts on Gemma’s pale arm. Days later, another missing girl shows up, tucked neatly into her bed on the morning of her birthday, her favourite teddy beside her, her skin as cold as ice—and the autopsy reveals scars on her arm matching Gemma’s.
Her head spinning, Josie fears the marks are a serial killer’s twisted way of counting his victims. But where are the other girls he’s killed, and how many more could follow? The case takes a terrifying turn when a local teen goes missing just days before she turns sixteen.
Clock ticking, Josie turns the town upside down in search of answers. But when her own chief comes forward with a missing piece in this devastating puzzle spanning decades, will it be enough to get inside the mind of the most unexpected and elusive killer she has ever encountered, or will another precious life be taken?

This is another wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary

Detective Josie Quinn's latest case takes on a very different edge when it ties into a possible cold case that has Chief Robert Chitwood tied up in knots. Things start for Josie when a young girl was found dead at a high school prom. Josie dives right in to try and identify the girl. As she does so, files prove that this murder resembles other murders from decades earlier. How do the present and past murders involve Josie's boss?

Evidence of a serial killer is strong, and one fact proves very disturbing. It appears that the victims are kept for some time before they are murdered, and with evidence that another teen is being held, there is truly a race against time for Josie and her team.

Chief Chitwood is as tough as they come, and he has knocked heads with Josie and others over time. However, this case proves very personal to the Chief and Josie works feverishly with him to get to the bottom of things. In fact, the two connect in a powerful way and I love how this book closed bringing something to mind from a previous book in this amazing series.

I have loved this series as I started with book three, Her Mother's Grave, back in 2018. Each and every book has been a stellar read, and Watch Her Disappear is right up there with all of the other books and definitely comes highly recommended.

Many thanks Bookouture to and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

As soon as I got my hands on this one it jumped to the front of my reading list. i love the JQ series and this one did not disappoint! We learn a lot of new tidbits about characters as they work to solve a case close to home! A wonderfully chilling tale that keeps you gripped from beginning to end

I highly recommend this series to everyone.

I think this is by far my favourite book in the series. Ok. I still haven’t read book 1 or 2 yet and j have loved all the others but this one just blows them out the park.

This book even had a different feel to it. A different focal point. Generally, in a Josie Quinn book, we have the case and then alongside it, the personal life of Josie. This time, none of that. We had the case and only the case. I had to keep reading! It was a book that had me on tenterhooks. God it was intense and harrowing and heart breaking and a few jaw dropping moments. I am already dying to get my hands on the next one!

I loved that the focal point was more on the Chief and his personal life. To an extent, because as I say the case takes front and centre but the Chief investigating it with Josie was a sight. Watching past and present collide in ways you don’t see coming.

As I say this book had a different feel to it, and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong I love the personal moments splattered throughout a book. But this one doesn’t have it and I think with the tale we are being told, it worked best that we didn’t. Because nothing should distract from the sad tale un-weaving in front of us.

Everything, when it unravels, does so at such a rapid rate. You have to keep up or your head will spin, especially in the last 15% it was madness. I did find a few times that I was shouting at the team because they weren’t looking at the obvious and I was getting frustrated that it took them a couple of chapters for them to catch up. But I get that is how police work is done, and sometimes being so close to a case they don’t always see it.

I really did love this book! It was frighteningly crazy and terrifying. Trying to work out how the murders are linked and why someone would do something so horrifying. The answer is no better!

It is a belter of a book and I am chomping at the bit for book 15!!!!

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. IYKYK, my reviews are always honest.

Full disclaimer: I have never read another book in this series, but that didn't impact my ability to follow any existing storylines.

THE PLOT

Detective Josie Quinn is back when a body is found at a high school prom and when another body appears staged and marked in the same manner, Quinn suspects it could be a serial killer. BUT WAIT, there's also a connection to a cold case very close to Chief Chitwood's heart. Dun dun DUNNNNNN

MY OPINION

So. This definitely had potential. I think if you cut it down by 50+ pages by removing the unnecessary details and sharpen up some of the dialogue, we have a winner. The foundation is there... but the craftsmanship is shoddy. I really wanted to give this 3 stars, but I just can't in good faith. And here's why:

-Sometimes the detectives were intentionally obtuse to create suspense. Like when the SAME fingerprints were found on DIFFERENT crime scenes 25 yrs apart, Noah and Josie were like: do you think she could be involved!??! C'mon guys, a toddler could've sniffed that one out. ALSO, a former cop dead ass said an informant tipped him off about a murder and he was like "I didn't think much about it at the time" HUH????? As far as informants go, isn't this the best info you could possibly hope for!?

-A lot of unnecessary, over-explanatory, closed caption ass writing. Examples:

Josie logged onto their system to see if Hummel had uploaded any of the photos from the search warrant they'd executed on McMichaels' house that morning. He Had. (COOL STORY BRO.)

Behind the bar, a bartender rinsed glasses while watching a baseball game on one of the televisions affixed to the wall. Pittsburgh Pirates versus the Philadelphia Phillies. A battle of Pennsylvania's two major league teams. (Ummm... thanks for the fun fact I guess?? Has nothing to do with the story though.)

...Josie was astounded by the spark that death took from its victims. (Yeah rigor mortis will really do a girl in.)

Anyways, need I say more? The unnecessary details bogged down this story, stopping any momentum or excitement from the case itself, which was interesting. Also, one of the major revelations was just a blip on the radar—there should've been more emotive writing about this, but it was like oh ya remember that cold case? Solved it. Anyways, Chipotle or Moe's for lunch???

My run of solid female-authored police procedurals ended here. Sad face. Also, if you've read the series, there is A LOT of rehashing, which you may not enjoy for obvious reasons.

PROS AND CONS

Pros: the case was interesting

Cons: too many unnecessary details, very play-by-play writing, intentionally obtuse detectives to create suspense, blunt ass ending, around 75% it was so boring I almost debated vacuuming instead

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Watch Her Disappear' by Lisa Regan.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Lisa Regan, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 12th April 2022.

This is the third book I have read by this author. It is the fourteenth book in the 'Detective Josie Quinn' series. It can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Her Deadly Touch' which is the twelfth book in the series and 'The Drowning Girls' which is the thirteenth book in this series and I would highly recommend them both.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. I am a huge fan of Lisa and if this is half as good as 'Her Deadly Touch' and 'The Drowning Girls' it is guaranteed to be a page turner. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine'.  I am a huge fan of Angela Marsons so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue and 58 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Pensylvannia, USA 🇺🇸

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonist is Detective Josie Quinn and Prima. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

Well, Well, Well Lisa you have done it again!!! Another absolute mind blowing page turner!!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that captivates the readers attention and places them right in the centre of the action. The cover and synopsis suited the storyline perfectly. Lisa writes in such engrossing and engaging way that I become completely absorbed in the storyline.

As soon as I started reading this book I fell straight back into the storyline from 'the end of 'The Drowning Girls' as of I had just finished it. I have read well over 100 books since then which just goes to show how much of an affect on me and how memorable Lisa's books are.

The storyline was absolutely nerveracking and heart racing and kept me consistently on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and turning the pages until I finished it in one sitting. The plot is unique and I really I must say this has got to be the most emotionally charged book that I have read in this absolutely fantastic series. I could feel my eyes filling in several occasions which isn't an easy feat especially when it comes to psychological thrillers so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Lisa for making me well up 😂. This book is absolutely filled with drama, murder, tension, red herrings, suspense, tears, secrets and I could go on. This book has everything and more that you want in a crime thriller. It is unique and realistic as well as being fast paced. There was constantly something happening and it left me questioning myself throughout the book. I never did guess who was involved so a huge congratulations Lisa!!! It is getting harder and harder to surprise me but you had me hook, line and sinker!!! I absolutely adored the ending which, again filled me with emotions (I mean seriously Lisa what are you doing to me!!! >. It was just amazing and yet again leaves me in suspense until the next book in this addictive series as I cannot wait to see what is going to happen now!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on all previous and future books of yours!!!

It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Although this is the fourteenth book in the series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!!

I absolutely loved meeting all the characters again and it really felt like I was meeting up with old friends I got to know them so well in the last book! I absolutely love Josie's down to earth personality. Josie has suffered a horrific loss and instead of being the type or person to let it either overwhelm her or the type who completely gets on with life and forgets she is in the middle. I am looking forward to reading previous books and finding more out about Josie and Lisette's relationship and bond although I'm sure it will lead to tears. Not only is Josie a strong female lead but Gretchen is also a fantastic female model and I love the bond between the two women. They make an absolutely fantastic team and the dynamic between not only Josie and Gretchen is spot on but also with them and Noah, Mettner, Amber and Chief Chitwood. I was pleased that we seen a completely different side to Chief Chitwood in this book and, although I liked him anyway, it has definitely made me feel "closer" to him and I'm looking forward to seeing what he is going to do now!!! Every single character in this book "played their parts" perfectly to make an absolutely fantastic and memorable team who I love meeting every time I pick up one of Lisa's books.

Congratulations Lisa Regan on an yet another absolutely fantastic novel and this is why your in my top 10 crime author list and why this series is in my top 5 list!! Looking forward to the next episode in this amazing series 🥂

Overall a heart racing, page turning, addictive and unputdownable fast paced crime thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Genres covered in this book include Crime Fiction, Police Procedural, Mystery and Crime Thriller amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Angela Marsons, Carol Wyer, P.J Tracy, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine and any fans of page turning crime series.

389 pages.

This book is just £2.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me a digital ARC of this book. The opinions are my own and freely given.
While Noah, Gretchen, Amber & Finn try to plan Josie and Noah's honeymoon, its prom night in Denton, and Josie's gets a call for the discovery of a body. A sixteen-year-old is found at Denton East High School. She is wearing a prom dress, hair and makeup done, but no one knows who she is. Through the autopsy, the Chief fells like this is linked to an unsolved case from 25-years ago. The Chief really opens up to Josie in this book and there is a whole different side to him we have never discovered. I felt for the Chief, learning about his past life. As the team races to find a missing girl, once again lives hang in the balance. As always, Josie Quinn brought worry, fear and sadness to the surface. Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan

I am delighted to be catching up with the latest happenings in this great series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, written by Lisa Regan. In this 14th instalment, Josie from the Denton PD, Central Pennsylvania recognises the face of a sixteen-year-old girl wearing a champagne prom dress who is found dead, having been stabbed. The girl is Gemma Farmer who disappeared a few months ago.

I dived into this series at book nine, though there's a backstory to enjoy this novel, Watch Her Disappear, if you are starting the series here. It was captivating, and a briskly-paced police procedural with more than enough action taking place to retain my interest. Once hooked, I was glued to the pages and it was a ride of surprises, despite the inclusion of cold cases. With its stylish and tense plot, this crime thriller was an intriguing tale that was more focused on professional investigations than on the personal lives of the police, as in other books. The story effortlessly flowed and there was never a dull moment as the plot beelined for the finale. Josie makes a tough, determined and admirable protagonist and once again, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Watch Her Disappear contains drama, suspense and tension by the shedload and I highly recommend this immersive novel which will delight all readers, both series stalwarts and new readers. I am eagerly anticipating what Lisa Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next!

FOURTEEN books in.. how on earth are we onto book 14??

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE PREVIOUS BOOKS THEN WHY THE HELL NOT? GET STRAIGHT ONLINE AND BUY THEM *NOW*

Well we may be 14 books in but they just keep getting better and better. I KNOW I say it everytime but I LOVE JOSIE QUINN.

Right, now I've got my fangirling out of the way lol..

I've been so so lucky for the past few books to recieve them as ARCs and you should see me give a little shriek and happy dance each time, I just can't help it! I also love this series that much I have also purchased each and everyone to add to my bookshelf.

Josie Quinn and her team now feel like family, each case brings you that little extra nugget of information that helps you understand them a little bit more. Josie, Noah, Gretchen and Mett ate one hell of a formidable team.

In the 14th installment Josie and her team are faced with the murder of an unknown teenage girl. Further digging reveals some connections to a cold case which had been headed up by the Chiefs father. As more deaths are revealed a real connection is made and the team need to work fast before another girl turns up dead.

This book focuses more on the cases than the personal lives of Josie and her team bit you still manage to garner snippets of information along the way. Within every installment Lisa manages to flesh out a character along the way. This time it was the turn of the Chief, Bobby Chitwood.

As usual in this series I found myself completely and utterly immersed, everything else around me was white noise (sorry kids). Lisa has this sublime way of sucking you in hook line and sinker, allowing nothing else to penetrate your brain until the very last word.

Once again hats off to Lisa Regan. Most series by now this far down the line would have petered out but each and every book within this amazing series has just got stronger and stronger. I cannot wait for #15.

The hugest thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

A High School Prom, dressing up, partying and fun
Until a girl is found, dead, but identified by no one.
Josie Quinn and her team are called in to investigate....
Discovering just who she is and what happened can't wait.

With other victims soon also being found
They know a serial killer is somewhere around.
The investigation includes revelations you really should read
A race against time to protect those in need.

With great characters and suspense filled, too,
This is a book I highly recommend to you.
I really didn't want to put it down as I sought
To see perpetrator(s) had been caught.

An enthralling page-turner, one of the best crime thrillers
Full of surprises, twists and keeping you guessing trying to identify the killer(s).
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
A fascinating read and this is my honest review.

Maybe the problem is that I didn't read the first 13 books in this series, but I'm baffled by all the 5 star reviews this book has. The writing is okay, although I am so tired of reading "he said... she said... she said....she said... she said" in the dialog. But the premise, the whodunnit and the suspension of disbelief are so ridiculous!

A young girl is found murdered at a prom, carefully arranged and beautifully styled, drugged and stabbed in a way that death would be quick and painless. Then another girl is found in the same condition in another place. All of the girls are killed and left on their 16th birthdays and they've all gone missing sometime in the past. In a stroke of amazing coincidence, the police chief's little sister went missing and was found in the same condition 25 years ago. Other girls have been missing and killed in the same ways but nobody ever noticed (how many violent, weird murders of teenage girls take place in small cities where this author lives?).

I kept trying to figure out why someone would do this, how it was connected to another cold case, the back story of another girl and how they were doing it. I finally thought I figured it all out and it all made sense, and I was so stoked that I'd unraveled it and everything fit together, but it turns out the ending in the book makes FAR less sense than what I thought it had to be. It's so.... just lame. Sometimes you just have to go "okay, so that person's crazy" and accept it as motivation. This is one of those endings. So much is so eye rolling.

If you just like the characters and like ridiculous serial killer stories, this is a quick read and will probably check all your boxes. It didn't make me want to go read books 1-13 though.

2 stars for "it was okay" for me.

I read a digital ARC of this book for review.

I've not read quite a few of the Josie Quinn series and I have yet to be disappointed in a book that I have read within it and that remains that case after having read this one too!

A girl is found dead at a high school prom and it soon becomes clear that this is not a one off incident and that a serial killer with a certain pattern and criteria is on the lose and it's the job on Quinn and her team to investigate and this time it's personal as the Chiefs own sister died in similar circumstances could their be a connection? could justice prevail?

A faced paced hang onto the edge of your seat action packed thriller.

This series shows no let up in it's strength another fab edition to an engaging enthralling series.

Watch her Disappear by Lisa Regan is the 14th in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:  (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Detective Josie Quinn has had a rough life,  and she still grieves the loss of her beloved grandmother, who was the only one she could rely on. As a baby, Josie had been kidnapped, and passed off as another woman's child.  Recently she has found her real parents, as well as her twin sister - news reporter Trinity Payne,  and her brother Patrick.   She works with the Denton Police Department, and her team consists of Detective Noah Fraley (her husband), Detective Gretchen Palmer, and Detective Finn Mettner (who is dating Press Secretary Amber Watts).  Their boss is Chief Bob Chitwood.

My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
While the team plans Josie's honeymoon, without any helpful comments from Josie, prom night is in full swing.  Honeymoon plans are interrupted by a phone call.  A young girl is found outside the school gym where party-goers are enjoying the music.  Dressed in a prom dress, the young girl is lying in a pool of blood.

Both Josie and Amber feel that the girl is familiar, and eventually they realize it is Gemma Farmer, who has been missing for a few months.  Her body was found on her 16th birthday.  The femoral artery in her leg had been cut.  The only other abuse that her body shows were 5 small cuts on her arm.  Perhaps she was a cutter.

When another missing girl is found, under similar circumstances, they are sure that they have a serial killer out there, and apparently this has been going on for a long time.

Chief Bob Chitwood is taking this personally.  He has information on this case that surprises the team.

My Opinions:
Again this book seemed like a stand-alone novel, but really, read them in order.  I think this was the best in the series.

The plot was so interesting!  The pace was really good, and there was a lot happening, with a number of twists.  I had an idea of where it was headed early on (it's those little details), but it was a great journey.

These books often concentrate on one of the team members, and are often about family. This was no different. I loved that this case was about the boss, as we knew little about Chitwood, and he has always been a bit gruff, and an "outsider".  This one brought him into the lime-light, and into the family of detectives.   It was really interesting to hear his back-story.

So, Lisa Regan continues to deliver, and her books continue to be fresh and captivating.  Can't wait for Number 15!

A young girl is found dead at the high school prom, but no one can identify her. Was she from another school or was her presence there a message from the killer? Another complicated case for Detective Josie Quinn, her husband Lt. Noah Fraley and their team. When another young girl is found dead, the slash marks on her arm connect her to the previous case. Is this the work of a serial killer, a killer who seems to be targeting young girls just prior to their sixteenth birthdays? When another girl, who is fifteen, goes missing Josie must act quickly to find her before the killer strikes again. When Chief Bob Chitwood asks Josie to check in to a case from years ago that might also fit the profile, she has no idea that it was his sister Kelsey’s case. Kelsey was murdered on her sixteenth birthday and the killer was never found. A very complex and at times confusing case as Josie and her team work to bring home the latest missing girl. Will they find her in time? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Wow! What a read. This book had it all. It grabbed my attention and never let go. The case was so interesting, I just couldn’t put this book down.
I really enjoyed that we got more in-depth with the Chief and got to get in his head. We learn more about him and start to understand some things.
I would thing that after 14 books, they would start to get slow or stale, but somehow Lisa Regan just keeps getting better and better.
