Anna gives us a collection of essays in which she talks about not being ready for anything in her life. From making adult decisions, marriage, parenting, and everything else in her life. She shows us that life can be humorous, we just need to see the humor.
These essays were so relatable and funny! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I'm giving the book four stars. I liked Thomas's writing style and the variety of essays. Well done and real!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
Interesting book, I did enjoy reading it.
I love Anna and her sarcastic sense of humor. She has some great stories in this book and there are a lot of laughs to be had; both at and with her. I did sometimes get lost in the story within a story within a story if I had to put it down and come back. Overall it’s a great fun read and I would definitely recommend it!
When I tell you I'm Not Ready for This had me laughing, I am not kidding. Anna Lind Thomas is that friend that goes through things and has things happen to them and you're like, no way this happened, and in reality, it has, that is her. It was so funny to see her and the relationships with her family and friends, she's a trooper and it's just a very feel-good book to read. The snowsuit incident had me in tears from laughing so much, the ankle, and poor ankles are the real champs of this book, pick up I'm Not Ready for This and find out why!
Certainly funny, but with deeper elements too, this was a great read. Easy to pickup whenever the mood hit. Definitely one I recommend. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book
I love the personal feel of this book. I relate to the stories the author is telling and it feels like I’m talking to an old friend. Be ready to laugh and cry and feel understood.
I literally couldn’t put this book down from the moment I picked it up. Hilarious true look into her life and events. I related so much to her running in the Vegas marathon. Loved it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Trigger warning sexual abuse and grooming.
I really loved this book.
Anna's first book "We'll Laugh About this (Someday)" had me laughing aloud - if you have somehow not yet read the SBD date story, you're in for a howling treat! Every time I read it, I'm crying laughing.
In "I'm Not Ready for This" Anna still makes us laugh with her relatable humor. She's able to share mortifyingly embarrassing stories so that we feel we are right there with her when they are happening. She segueways seamlessly, tying old memories with new ones. There is a deeper poignancy and depth in this book, a sharing of faith that really moved me. I did not want it to end, and I look forward with anticipation to her next book!
Anna, you are the best friend everyone wishes they had. Thank you for sharing your unpredictable, funny, messy and beautiful life with us!
Like hanging out with your cool older cousin, Anna's book feels both intimate and life-educational. Reading each chapter is like chasing a squirrel (which is perfect for my ADHD brain!). She begins with a story that leads into another story that leads into another one which eventually wraps back around into the first one...so it has a very conversational feel. With anecdotes and advice, this is a book that says, "Don't take your life too seriously...it's only life after all."
I’m Not Ready For This by Anna Lind Thomas was exactly what I needed to bring a huge smile to my face. I thought her first book was amazing and was really looking forward to this new book. It was well worth the wait and since I pride my self on honesty I have to say move over first book, because this new book is even more amazing than the first book. Packed to the brim with humorous stories and situations that will leave the reader grinning from ear to ear and or shaking their head with confirmation of “Omg this happened to me too!” Anna’s writing style makes you feel like she’s your best friend whose only mission in life is to make you laugh and laugh until you literally “pee your pants”. This book was released just in time for those of us who crave a delightful , light summer read.
This is the second book Ann Lind Thomas has written about her life and things that stick of from her life. I wasn't a fan. Thats being sad I will continue to read her social media posts for the humor she posts on those.

Thank you #Netgalley for this read.
Such a funny collection of essays, it left me wanting more so I ended up downloading another one of her books! We learn about Anna and her parenting, marriage, childhood, clingy relationship to her mother and so much more. I loved how she owns her faults, quirks and makes light of it. She is naturally hilarious and look forward to more from her.
Ok. Can I just say I want Anna to be my best friend? Clearly kindred spirits here.
I got this book early as part of the launch team, and it was HILARIOUS.
Real life, relatable content is so refreshing to read, and this definitely fits the bill. I first discovered Anna through the infamous viral fart story, and have loved her ever since.
It’s nice to read about other women who maybe don’t have it all together all the time, and how that’s just fine. Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be great.
There are so many fun and funny aspects to this book so I’ll just touch on my favorite one. The frenzy that happens in the house before someone comes over. Oh, LORD, that is my life. My mom was always like this too, going bonkers-it seemed-before holidays, birthday parties, and the like. We called it “Holiday Mom.” Sadly I lost my mom unexpectedly at a young age a year and a half ago, but reading about this made me laugh till I cried. It’s so fun to read something and go “Huh. Not just me/my family, then.”
As women we often hold ourselves to impossible standards, so it shouldn’t be such a revelation to know that we aren’t the only one who is unprepared, who’s looking around for the adult in the room only to realize it’s you, to procrastinate and do crazy things. And yet, it all comes out just fine.
Thank you so much, Anna and launch team. I enjoyed this book more than I even thought I would.
Anna really knocked it out of the park with this one! I really loved the first book but I can truly say this one was even better. I feel like I connected somehow with every chapter. I laughed and cried and laughed some more. I was entertained throughout and I cannot wait for the next book. BRAVO ANNA!
Anna (her readers feel like old friends, so first names seem natural) continues to evolve as a writer. Her stories are simultaneously funny, poignant and helpful. I appreciate her mix of down-to-earth rawness and a desire to be a light in this world. I will always pre-order Anna's books and subscribe to her blogs. You should too.
Anna is bold and transparent in her latest release. She shares her ups, downs, and in betweens! Her mom captured my heart and made me laugh. Her sister left me needing to get in my own prayer closet. Her husband made me wonder if husbands have a secret code of behavior. Eye rolls, laughs, and amens later, Anna once again has a way with words that leave you feeling like she's a friend on a long phone call catching up on what's been missed.
"I'm Not Ready For This" is Anna Lind Thomas' second book of humorous essays. To say "humorous" does not describe it accurately. This book is HILARIOUS! I laughed until I cried. But this book is more than a simple laugh fest. In "I'm Not Ready For This", Anna Lind Thomas shares some very tender thoughts and feelings which make each reader examine how we feel about ourselves, others, and our place in the world. She shares these stories to remind us that we are ok. We aren't alone. We all go through the same things. And with God's help, we all make it to the other side. I highly recommend "I'm Not Ready For This". I hope you will read it and share it with a friend.
