Have you heard about the couple on Maple Drive? Isla barely leaves the house after her brutal mugging. Her boyfriend Zach moved in with her after the attack. To look after her.
But something else has happened now. I donβt want to say that someoneβs out to get her butβ¦.I just hope they figure out the truth before itβs too late.

The story for me was rather slow. I mean 400 pages really? It seemed to take a while to flesh out our main character Isla's situation and she as the protagonist was a bit difficult to warm to. Much of the story hinges on characters that play very little part in events, and things meld together in a way that is quite incredible. It was hard to reconcile the images weβd been given of certain characters with the reality of their actions. Some elements made very little sense.
The synopsis gives you the feeling of a great story ahead. Very ominous, intriguing and while I had issues with the story, this was an okay thriller that offers enough to keep you entertained while readingβ¦..For a very long time.
The couple on Maple Drive By: Sam Carrington
Isla is walking home after a celebration of her promotion when she is attacked. She has a concussion and broken wrist. However, her emotional scars are much slower to heal. Spending days on end at home she is not recovering as quickly as she and those around her had hoped.
As a crime show addict, she tries to figure out who could have attacked her and why. She begins to suspect all of the people around her. With little memory of the event and the days leading up to it, Isla must use her own instincts to find the perpetrator.
The characters were interesting if a little underdeveloped at times. Most were pretty unlikable in fact, but I don't mind that. I just wish the culprit wasn't revealed so quickly. In this instance , I felt it was too soon. I have read a previous book by this author and will read another for sure.
Thanks to netgalley and Harper 360, Avon for the arc.
Not bad but wasnβt a favorite of mine. I have this annoying habit of trying to figure out the book ending before it ends. I hate when I am correct. Thanks NetGalley for the arc copy.
The Couple on Maple Drive is a domestic thriller about a woman, Isla, who is attacked in the middle of the night while walking home. The book focuses on her recovery and her own investigation into who tried to attack her, as she believes it was someone close to her. The chapters alternate between Isla, her boyfriend Zach, and excerpts from a true crime podcast. There are also a few flashback chapters. Overall, I found the pace to be quite slow and the story to be unrealistic. I also did not find any of the characters overly likable or relatable. The attacker is revealed pretty early on in the book, which makes for a long ending. I'm sure that plenty of readers will enjoy The Couple on Maple Drive, but it just wasn't for me.
Sam Carrington has a new fan! I thought I had it figured out and BAM! I was way off. Not even close to having this figured out. I loved every minute of it.

This book just wasnβt for me. It moved too slow and didnβt hold my attention. I didnβt care for the podcast part of it and thought it took away from the story. The plot itself was really good but I didnβt enjoy the way it was carried out. Once we found out who the attacker was (which was predictable) the ending seemed to last forever. I felt like that couldβve have been wrapped up sooner. I still plan on reading other books by this author this one just didnβt do it for me.
Thank you Harper 360, Avon and NetGalley for this sneak peak! Publication date is May 17, 2022.
The Couple on Maple Drive by Sam Carrington was quite edgy with many red herrings that moved you from one suspect to the next. I liked this author's writing style.
A wonderful page-turner with good characters.

This was an enjoyable story that I read in a day. The premise was intriguing and there was plenty of suspense, I just feel that the attacker was revealed a little too early - it made the story drag just a little at the end. I like to keep guessing and suspecting everyone until the end. All in all, it was very well written and I would definitely try one of Sam Carrington's other novels.
Isla was brutally attacked and is determined to find out who did it. Lots of βfriendsβ and co-workers lead her to think they did it. This had me guessing who did it til the end. And of course a nice twist at the end is always a win-win! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book was a little slow to start for me. A young woman is attacked and canβt remember the details surrounding it. She becomes suspicious of everyone around her.
Once I hit the middle of the book things started moving a lot faster and became easier to read. Although I liked the story line, I didnβt love the way it was all tied together.
Iβd like to thank netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!
βThe Couple On Maple Driveβ will have you wondering how well you know your friends and loved ones. This was a good read, it gabbed my attention and I finished it within 48 hours. It makes you wonder how well you know your neighbors, but alsoβ¦ how well your neighbors know their neighbors. I thought I had his figured out but there was a surprise near the end that made my arm hairs stand up.
This was a pretty fresh spin that, for the most part, I enjoyed. I liked the cast of characters, enjoyed the setting and premise, and loved the true crime aspect. I didn't like that the culprit was found out so soon. Way too soon. And the ending fell flat for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360 for this eARC. I enjoyed the book very much. It was a page-turner.BUT, I personally thought the revel of the person was too early. Otherwise, very good.
Isla has just received a promotion at work; but, on her way home from the celebratory party her friend/co-worker threw in her honor, she is attacked in what the police believe was a random mugging. The attack leaves Isla with some amnesia so she doesnβt remember anything from the night of the attack.
However, as time goes on, she begins to remember various pieces of information about the weeks and days leading up to the attack that have her questioning if it was random, and if it wasnβt, should she be worried about the attacker coming back to finish the job?
I liked Islaβs interest in true-crime and how those interests played a role in the book. I thought it was an interesting addition to the book to have the podcast element as well.
I did feel like the book had potential to play out as a more suspenseful story than it did. I was kind of disappointed that the attacker is discovered a little over halfway through the book as I felt it could have added more suspense if the identity was unknown for longer.
The ending also felt a bit anticlimactic.
I still enjoyed the book. I found it fast paced and entertaining.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360 for this eARC.
The Couple on MapleDrive was a great psychological thriller. Isla was attacked after she left a party in her honor. When she wakes up in the hospital she doesnβt remember what happen. Her boyfriend moves in with her to take care of her until she gets back on her feet, Itβs been a few weeks since the attack and she still canβt bring herself to leave the house. The police thinks it was a mugging but Isla is beginning to believe someone was maybe trying to kill her. She doesnβt trust anyone not her co-workers, her best friend and even her boyfriend. I really enjoyed reading this book. Thank you Netgalley for this arc.
Isla is muggedβ¦is it a random crime, or is someone close to her trying to kill her? When Isla starts asking questions, she finds there are just more and more questions. For me, this was a different take on a thriller. I enjoyed the story.
Domestic tension at it's most fun! Carrington does it again - you think you know what is coming, but no - maybe you do and maybe you don't - maybe it's what you expect or don't expect.. Good stuff!
Not familiar with this author but great thriller! Took me a whole to start it but the plot kept me guessing and I loved the characters. Super twisty! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, and great detective work and a great who done it! I will definitely recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
