I enjoyed the mystery and intrigue in this novel. The story is told over dual timelines. This is a multigenerational story. The plot progresses at a steady pace. Recommended for lovers of historical fiction

Sisterhood is a good historical novel set during the Second World War and around the time of the fall of the Berlin wall. It's well written and a good story, but not hugely striking or memorable. It's quite compelling while reading it though, so it's worth reading if you enjoy historical novels about the Resistance.

This book was wonderfully intriguing; but it was the emotion in the story and the quality of the writing that sang out to me.

Sisterhood is a dual timeline novel that explores the part twin sisters Freya and Shona played in the Second World War and the reverberations decades later when the Berlin Wall comes down. In 1944 Freya is working as a newly qualified doctor in London's East End and her twin sister Shona is working for the SOE. 45 years later in 1989 Freya is unable to speak due to a brain tumour and when the Berlin Wall falls her memories of the past are stirred. It's up to Freya's daughter Kirsty to uncover the secrets of her mother's and aunt's past. I love novels set during the Second World War, especially those which put women centre stage and I found Sisterhood to be a compelling read. I really enjoyed both timelines and I felt that the author really brought the wartime period to life. Both Freya and Shona are strong and inspiring characters and I was equally drawn to Kirsty. This is a beautifully written and moving novel that I would highly recommend.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

What a great story! Twins, Freya and Shona may look identical, but under the skin they are very different women. Freya is just starting her job as a newly qualified doctor at an East End hospital in London during the blitz. Shona, is working for SOE, in the Polish Section. Shona also has a very handsome Polish boyfriend exiled in London as a result of the war. This story has a double timeline of the 1940s and 1989 and the fall of communism. It is a great story, told from Freyas perspective and that of her daughter, Kirsty, who is desperate to understand her mother and the things she experienced before her mother dies. This story tells of bravery, heartbreak and despair as well as resilience and determination. I was completely gripped by the characters and their experiences. And then, the final denouement at the end in the Authors Note almost broke my heart. The fact that the story is very loosely based on the author's aunt and mother's wartime experiences. An absolutely incredible story! Read this book.

This was a well written book, about family dynamics, family lies, family history and sisterly love, I just didn't really gel with it and found it hard to read.

This was a really enjoyable historical fiction read. It was well written with a interesting and compelling stoyrline and well developed characters that were relatable and likeable. I find books written about this period fascinating as a lot is written about the Secind World War but I havent read much fiction that brings the Berlin Wall into it.
I couldnt put this book down, I really liked it.
