The True Love Bookshop by Annie Rains. I love books that have bookshops as a theme. The romance between River and Tess is nice. I love the character River. Join the characters River and Tess (Watson and Sherlock Holmes) in this bookshop adventure.
Tess is a young widow trying to figure out what is next for fee, after the death of her husband who had been her high school sweetheart. She has recently taken over the bookstore her aunt used to run in Somerset Lake, and is shocked when a man in need of help collapses in her bookstore- and even more shocked to see it is her husband’s ex-best friend. The 2 restart an unlikely friendship, and River tries to help her piece together the details of why her husband wasn’t working, and why he was in a place he wasn’t supposed to be, when he was killed in a car crash.
I liked Annie Rains’s books because they are a great escape- the characters are people you would want to have as friends, and the towns are idyllic, though quirky. This one is no exception. A nice, fun book to read if you are looking for an escape!
Thank you for reaching out to me and allowing me to read and review this Wonderful story. By the way, it was that good that I started it one morning and finished it that evening. Tess and Rivers story really touched my heart in so many ways. They go through quite the journey to reach their destiny but what a journey it is. I. Afraid to say too much as I don’t want to ruin their journey. So I will just say it’s one of the best stories I’ve read. So don’t miss this story. I promise you will love it.
Tess is a widowed bookshop owner who is struggling to move on years after her husbands unexpected death. Everyone thinks she should be out dating again, but she still doesn’t feel ready yet. At the beginning of the book River wanders into her bookshop needing help, and we soon find out why Tess hates him and has no desire to help him. River used to be Tess’ late husbands best friend -until they had a falling out. River is a former marine turned Private Investigator, a real loner. As the book progresses Tess finds herself wanting answers to some questions that arise about her late husband, and it becomes clear that River is the one who can help her get those answers. As they work together Tess has to question everything she thought she knew about the past. This was a wonderful romance with an interesting mystery. I love the town of Somerset Lake, and it was great getting to know Tess better, while also catching up with previous characters from other books in the series. Another great book from Annie Rains! I received an ARC from netgalley, and this is my honest review.
