I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I like creative alphabet books, and One Rhyme at a Time is a creative alphabet book. Not only is there alphabet learning, but rhyming too, another skill kids need for kindergarten. Great book for birth to five years of age.
I loved this book!! The book went from A-Z using animals for each letter of the alphabet. I loved that each animal had its own 5 sentence rhyme! The rhymes were great short stories. I loved the animals names. They were unique. The illustrations were beautiful! A child would love looking at all the vibrant pictures. Children could learn about animals, nature, travel, friendships and numbers by hearing this book read to them. Overall a great children’s book!
For some reason, alphabet books don't circulate very well for me. Neither do short rhymes and poetry. I think this fun book might be the exception. On my list to order.
A quick, entertaining, and a fun way to learn the alphabet. I think this would suit my 6 year-old brother very much, who are currently in his first year of school.
The artwork was so colorful and beautiful. And with the rhyming it made this book a fun and amusing read!
I’d recommend this!
One Rhyme at a Time by Katharine Tonti is a very cute rhyming abc book. I love the illustrations. Would definitely buy it for my granddaughter who turns two soon.
One Rhyme at a Time by Katharine Tonti is such a cute, illustrated book for kids. I love the illustrations and the text works well for the littles. Great picture book. Highly recommend.
This story was such a delightful read! The rhyming and little ]oems for each letter of the alphabet was fun qnd very interactive. It had me and my children laughing and being silly all the way through. We also loved the illustrations. My daughter would point out different pictures smiling from ear to ear.
I love this book!! Such a singy songy book lol. Yes I am making up words. Such a fun book and the rhymes are so cute. It's a learning tool for children in a school situation. Rhyming is such a fun way to learn your ABC's. Illustrations are very cute in this book. I absolutely love it.
I received a free copy of the book and is voluntarily writing a review
This is a great book for an early years classroom, ie preschool to grade 2. Each page is a new letter of the alphabet and includes a 5 line rhyme. Rhyming is an essential part of early reading and literacy, matched with the use of the alphabet, and including some fun little stories and vibrant pictures, I could see this being a great tool for early years teacher. I currently teach grade 3/4 and feel it might be a bit young for some of my students, but it would have fit nicely in my classroom library when I taught grade 1/2 and I think and I could see myself using it as a launching point even in upper elementary when teaching limericks or reviewing rhyming and patterns with weaker students.
Thank you Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this great book!
This is such fun! Each letter inspires a short, funny animal poem. Not only will kids get good alphabet practice, but they can identify the various animals and point out rhyming words while giggling at the silly stories. The illustrations are fantastic--they're bright, vivid, and wonderfully detailed. This would be a very enjoyable read-aloud for toddlers and preschoolers!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Super cute. I love how the illustrations made it easy to interact with my son as we read. Definitely a book for every child’s shelf
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
One Rhyme at a Time by Katharine Tonti is an adorable alphabet book for young children. Each page of the book contains an animal with a name starting with a letter from A-Z. Along with a picture of the animal is a short poem using the AABBA rhyme scheme. The poem depicts each animal in some sort of strange situation.
Overall, One Rhyme at a Time is one of the more original alphabet books out there. One highlight was the animal for X, which I had never heard of before. You really do learn something new every day. I took off 1 star, because the illustration style didn't really appeal to me. I'm sure many children will enjoy the pictures though. If you're intrigued by the description, I recommend that you check out this book, which is available now!
Would you enjoy a zany alphabet book to read with a child you know? If so, this title is just the ticket. The rhymes are silly and the illustrations add to the fun. The critters that are featured are enjoying themselves and you will too.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
