Thank you to NetGalley and RVR Publishing for an e-arc of this novel! I was unfortunately not able to get far in this novel, and feel it would not be appropriate to provide a review at this time.
"Hearts on fire" is a short, sweet small-town romance that will melt your heart (quite literally).
It's a romantic story between a woman, who returned to her roots, and a firefighter, who doesn't have any. And even though their start is not the nicest, the end is, for sure, the happiest.
I enjoyed the story; the writing was lovely, and the characters were quite likable. I feel guilty, but I really found Chloe quite irritable, and she was definitely not the best heroine, but Drew was a sweetheart and stole my heart.
The fact that there were cats in the story gave it an additional star, especially since the MMC was the cat person (and not the FMC, as it is popular in the genre).
The spice was hot, but I thought a bit more wouldn't be that bad. However, the main characters had chemistry, and I loved their scenes together.
So if anyone is looking for a short, spicy, and well-written small-town romance, I'd definitely recommend this one.
I thought that this book had a good, strong storyline
I loved the โwill she, wonโt sheโ dilemma
It was a romantic and sexy read and I thoroughly enjoyed it
It is 4 stars from me for this one

The author is new too me and Hearts on Fire will not be my last book because I'm anxiously waiting for the next one to come out. I have to say that I hope this will be a series because I'd like to see how the rest of Drew's friends from their HEA with cats of course. Because if any of their pets are like Bodhi they will all have fantastic books to read. You'll laugh out loud with the bond that Bodhi the cat who's owner is handsome and hot firefighter Drew and I had to agree with Inez's comment " I'm a mother of boys I've seen everything" I laughed so hard I cried because she's right.
You'll meet Chloe Krause who has returned back home after her grandmother passes and leaves her the house. But her father has other ideas and will do everything to make sure she doesn't keep "his" house. But Chloe has her own demons to conquer after a car accident as a child almost took her life. But she'll have to conquer her own fears from a childhood accident to fall in love with Drew and his cat Bodhi. When a fire hits too close to home both the cat and firefighter will do whatever it takes to make them a forever family.
I have mixed reviews on this book. The cover is not my favorite, the Cat yes... but the shirtless hot guy, not so much. I would enjoy the cover more if it was maybe one of the cute rom-com cartoon covers with a guy and a cat.
The story was cute, Bodhi the cat likes to visit Chloe at her house. Yet he lives with this owner Drew a few doors away. Drew and Chloe are cute and funny, banter is good. All around a quick read.

If you enjoy a small town romance with a hot firefighter and a truly inspiring heroine, then Hearts on Fire by Christina Berry is for you. Ms. Berry is a new author for me and I plan on reading more of her book offerings. This is a well-written novel with three main characters; a man, a woman and a three-legged cat that prefers a porch to a litter box.
When Chloe's grandmother passed away, she bequeathed her home to Chloe. The home is quite old, pre-dating the civil war, and since her grandmother's passing has deteriorated quite rapidly. Chloe plans on selling the house once she is done with all the renovations. Then she meets Drew, her neighbor. Drew is a firefighter, paramedic and owner of Bodhi, a cat with a lot of nerve. Chloe and Drew hit it off and fall into lust and love. However, Drew's occupation and Chloe's tragic past are hurdles they need to work through in order to find their happiness together.
I really liked this scorching romance. The balance between plot, heat and angst, was absolutely perfect. Chloe and Drew are a passionate couple and their backstories were quite compelling. I am truly looking forward to the author's next book.

I won't lie the cover of this book drew might in. I'm a cat lover and when the hero has a cat instant swoon for me. I knew had to read this one also because the blurb sounded intriguing. I really liked Drew and Chloe. Their banter was one of my favorite parts. Obviously that cats were another favorite. Bodhi was a mischievous little guy with a lot of personality. There a few times this book had me on the edge of my seat. One part I sort of read through my fingers because I was so afraid for the kitties and characters. For Chloe coming back to Krause is a healing of sorts in more ways than one. A little rebirth for her and a path she never expected.
THIS BOOK WAS ADORABLE! (and i'm not just talking about the cover) Though most of us look down upon books with shirtless and irl men, the cat made it all the much better. The cats in this book gave it so much personality and actually tied beautifully into the book. I would definitely read more of this authors animal theme books and I liked the writing!

This book was so cute from page one to the end.
The animals (cats) featured in this book made the story so unique and honestly were kind of the highlight of the book with their little personalities!
And the sparks of the main characters was HOT yet made it seem like they couldn't live without eachother. It was like they complimented eachother and held eachother up.
I also loved the details of the firefighting aspect.
The fire calls were told in such great detail that I felt like I was really there and I could clearly picture what was happening in my head.
Okay now to talk about the DRAMA
There was not only fire drama but also family drama that ended up putting the main character in the path of her father's wrath.
I'm gonna leave this review without spoilers because it's best to go into it blind.
If you love a good fated hearts romance with cozy vibes along with touching characters mixed with some drama, then this book is for you!

Solid 4 stars read ๐โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
The hero of this book, Drew Emerson, a firefighter and has a cat named Bodhi (as in one of the characters from Point Break). I liked that this book has pop culture reference, Point Break, Patrick Swayze, for instance. In addition, I liked that the author explained hero and heroineโ background. But, in the epilogue, although the ending was good, I felt it was a bit rushed. Nonetheless, it was a quick read book.
Trigger warnings: PTSD, Anxiety, fire, flood, violence, alcoholism, illness/death of family members, child neglect, abuse, and animal suffering (information according to the author)
Thank you to the Netgalley and publisher for ARC.
Firefighter Drew Emerson makes his first mistake of the day when he yells at his new neighbor, Chloe Krause, for putting a collar on his cat. His cat, Bodhi, had been visiting Chloe (aka peeing on her porch). Apologizing for his remarks, they soon start a tumultuous relationship filled with humor, passion, and of course Bodhi. Drew is helping her with the renovation of the house she inherited from her grandmother, but worry over the dangers of his job brings on her anxiety attacks. Although working with her therapist, she still suffers occasional nightmares from the car accident that was caused by her father. Having not seen her father in years, his sudden reappearance into her life makes her uneasy. The lively dialog and shared interests between these two characters makes this a most entertaining read. Bodhi and his determination to part of the story adds another level of charm. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This was such a sweet, steamy, hero romance! The story was intriguing and I loved that cats played a large part in the story! They weren't just background noise. This was a standalone, but I do think I will be looking up more of Berry's books!
I am bumping up the rating based on the inclusion of cats on the cover and cats in the story. There should be more cats as part of romance. I enjoyed the harder subjects as part of this story, but otherwise the characters werenโt particularly memorable.

From the moment I started this book I could not put it down. I became invested in Drew and Chloeโs story. Their chemistry was incredible and every interaction between them left me with a silly grin on my face.

Christina Berryโs latest book, Hearts on Fire, is rife with touching moments and plenty of heart pounding action woven throughout. With completely relatable and dynamic characters, not too mention two too cute cats, this small romance is sure to capture the hearts of any person before the first page is completed and turned.

OMG
This book was seriously so cute! I fell in love with Drew. His southern mannerisms and sexy drawl are to die for.. The story while clichรฉ, was exactly wanted I needed after my last few intense books.
The only part that bothered me was the simply language. It was very "she said" "he said" type of things. I personally enjoy more details and descriptions. Other than that, would totally recommend this book as a palette cleaner before you delve into darker books!
