Thank you Netgalley and Sarah Robinson for this arc!
I was intrigued by the summary, it's true, who has a snake at home?
the start was pretty good but as the novella is short, unfortunately we can't make the suspense last, I found that it was going too fast and that there was just a series of events.
I would have liked more suspense and that the novel be written in the first person in order to feel the emotions and the attraction between the two characters.
otherwise it was really cute and funny and this book really has potential, I think it's mostly a story of point of view of how we understand the story :)
Okay, so, unfortunately, I was just unable to finish this short story. I read the description and thought it sounded like a cute little sapphic story I'd have no problem finishing quickly. However, not even 10% in and it's already over-expositional and tacky and reads like Wattpad fanfiction. It was a cute idea in the beginning, but the execution was poor and it lacked so many elements that make up a good story.
A short story for St. Patrick’s Day. Scientist Nell doesn’t expect to fall head over heels for the new owner of her favorite bar. Saoirse has three broken engagements behind her and wants to make a fresh start with The Lucky Leprechaun. There was a lot of character background color packed into this story, some of which felt a bit superficial. For instance, we hear at the outset about Nell facing challenges for a woman in STEM and her success as a vaccine scientist, but then this information seems to drop off into the background and doesn’t really play a further role. Likewise, a lot is made of Saoirse’s three broken engagements, but the story really only addresses one of these prior relationships, and the other two seem to be just window dressing, with no names or details given about those former fiances or why Saoirse got engaged to them in the first place. Or on a lighter note, we hear about Nell’s rooster-decorated kitchen, but we don’t get the opportunity to really see its full glory. But then, this is a short story, and the action takes place only over a couple of days, so it’s understandable that not every detail gets in-depth treatment. The relationship between the main characters was very sweet, and the on-page intimacy was just a little kissing and cuddling. Overall a charming and light-hearted read for some St. Paddy’s Day cheer.
🍹🍸Quick & a bit quirky🐍
🍀What better place to base a St. Patrick's Day romance than in a bar?! A sweet idea that covered all the bases of an instant attraction romance in a short, fun story. Author Sarah Robinson gives both female leads Saoirse and Nell some serious sadness in their backgrounds that made me really glad that they're moving forward and finding professional and personal fulfillment in spite of their pasts. I particularly loved the quirky cameo appearance of "Laura Dern." (No, not that one!) And the author even provided a final twist to this HEA romance that I never expected. What a nice love story and achieved without steam. I was impressed.💋
This was the second story I read in this holiday romance series and I look forward to more.
Thanks to Author Collective 20 and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
This was a lovely short story. I do think it could have held up as a longer story. The premise is a very similar to runaway bride with some slight difference. The story could have used more depth but with the length that's not possible. However for the length I feel like the author did a pretty decent job but I think a few extra chapters would have been beneficial. Saoirse and Nell seem to be different but they match perfectly,
Such a sweet Saint Patrick's day romance! Nothing too special but it is a fun book to pass time and quite short. The characters are enjoyable to read about and them together was great.
I read Mall You Need is Love back in January and I enjoyed that book by Sarah so when I seen Mall Out of Luck I had to get a copy.
I thought this was a super fun story. A cute romance story and just in time for some St. Patty's Day love.
A quick and cute read with great characters. I enjoyed reading about their romnace and getting to know Saoirse and Nell.
It's short but sweet and I couldn't have liked this more than I already do.
Author Collective 20,
Thank you for this eARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
This was a perfect novella - two strong women who are capable and confident in their careers. They meet and sparks happen. It's short, sweet, and a delightfully quick read. I will definitely be grabbing a few more from this 'mall series'.
Thank you for allowing me to read this eARC I have never read from Sarah Robinson before so I was excited especially as I adore short stories.
This was a absolutely adorable Sapphic Romance between a stem scientist who works on viruses with a notorious runaway bride who is opening up a bar. As much as I’d like to get to know the characters more in a longer novel I think that there was enough description and events that happened in this book that made me fall in love with both of these characters. I will definitely read more short stories by this author
This was a super short lesbian romance novella that is St. Patrick's Day themed. The two main characters meet at a mall under unexpected circumstances. I thought it was cute but it does move very fast, so it was hard to feel fully attached to the characters or completely believe in their love story.
I liked the beginning- the meet cute was fun and there were some interesting moments. The second half felt a little rushed and overly dramatic. The conflict wasn't what I was expecting it to be (a huge plus) but it was resolved a little too quickly for my taste.
It was entertaining enough to read this but it isn't one that will really stick with me.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to review.
