When single mom Rachel moves from Miami to a remote island in Lake Erie to take a job at a brewery hotel, she finds an unfinished hotel and it's grumpy (and handsome) owner. Mason offers Rachel a chance to build a hotel, rebuild her life, and maybe fall in love.
I loved Float Plan, so I had high hopes for this! I really enjoyed this slow burn, grumpy-sunshine romance. The audiobook was great!
Having enjoyed The Float Plan, I was ready for this next installment in the Beck Sisters series. The Suite Spot by Trish Dollar was described as a comfort read, and it is. While dealing with deep topics, it's still a satisfying read about a woman taking a second chance - at herself and love.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.
I tried to listen to this one but couldn’t get into it. Stopped about 1/3 of the way through. The premise sounded very good and I could see where it was going. Maybe I will give it another try, but this one is not for me at this time.
A sweet and charming story that's a perfect summer read, heavy on the humor and romance despite also addressing grief.
The tropes are grumpy-sunshine, single parent, second chance and age gap. The chemistry between the main characters, Rachel and Mason was both sweet and sexy. I enjoyed their banter as well as the tenderness of their friendship that eventually turned into more. I absolutely loved the unique remote setting, cute little Maisie and the adorable prickly cat. The end felt a bit rushed and there was some drama that didn't make much sense but other than that I was satisfied by the overall reading experience.
Easy to read with memorable characters and just the perfect pace The Suite Spot is a heartfelt romance with some serious undertones. It can be easily binged in a single setting and is a great summer beach read.
The audio was absolutely perfect and it made for a great listening experience!
The Suite Spot is the second book in the Beck Sisters series, but it can be read as a stand alone. This romcom dives into parenthood, career goals, moving on, and beer brewing. I loved this book more than the first one, The Float Plan! I really liked how the author developed Rachel and Mason’s characters. It was wonderful to see them grow throughout the novel and learn about their pasts. The details about beer brewing were fascinating to me. The author touches upon heavy subjects: sexual harassment at work, death of a child (happened in one of the main character’s past), and grief. Lastly, I liked that this was a quick and cute read. Definitely recommend picking this one up!
Such an emotional page-turner but as it's an audio, it was wonderful to listen to. It kept me engaged and invested in Rachel and Mason's story. Well written and narration done superbly!
The suite spot was such a great book. This could be read as a standalone or with the series. The narration was just as good as it was for the first book as well. I instantly fell in love with Masie. And Rachel and Mason's relationship was fun to follow. I was rooting for Rachel through the entire book and I felt that she had some character development in this too. A bonus for me in this book was how Trish and Keene were mentioned in this.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this Audiobook for an honest review.
This was such a good book. I immediately fell in love with Maisie. Such a sweetie! I loved the slow burn romance with Mason and Rachel. They both had some things they needed to work through. I will definitely be reading more by this author. Thank you to St. Martin's Press/Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I liked this continuation of the Beck Sisters series, but have taken way too long to review it!
I’m a big fan of the fixer-upper setting for a romance, so when Rachel left her job at a luxury hotel to help renovate a run-down resort and get it ready for the tourist season, I knew I would be enjoying this book. The isolated island setting was perfect!
We also have a cantankerous cat, an adorable little girl, and a reclusive grump. What more could I ask for?
I really enjoyed how the author wrote Mason and Rachel’s relationship. They both had a lot of baggage to work through, but it was fun to watch them each open up to each other and begin to fall in love.
Audio Review: The narrator pronounced "Ich liebe dich" and a few other German phrases incorrectly. Other than that, it was great!
Please be aware this review may contain spoilers for both Float Plan and The Suite Spot.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Rachel in Float Plan because I felt like she was super dismissive of Anna and it bugged me. So I’ll be honest I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to muster up any sympathy for Rachel, but after reading this book I understand her motivations as a character so much better and I did end up liking her character a lot.
I enjoyed this book, but it didn’t wow me as much as Float Plan did. I did enjoy that we got to see a bit of Keane and Anna and I also liked that Rachel and Anna were able to work on their relationship a bit as well.
This was cute, but I don’t have much to say about it.
I received a physical ARC of this from the publisher and a good reads giveaway
CW: fat shaming, sexual assault (chapter 1)
Such a lovely escape! I really enjoyed the narration, the story, and the development of each of the characters. They’re all so real and genuine that I feel I know these people and would love to escape to their world on the island.
I enjoyed this book so much more than Doller’s “Float Plan” because, personally, it was so much more relatable. We need more books featuring strong female characters who are ALSO mothers (aka their motherhood doesn’t DEFINE them).
Sarah Naughton’s narration made my commutes feel like a cozy afternoon reading session, wrapped in a blanket, under a tree in the woods.
Thank you to MacMillan Audio and Netgalley for the review copy of this ebook in exchange for my fair and honest review.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I loved everything about Suite Spot. Excellent characters, great plot, great back stories; I just really want to go here.
I loved this book so much and these characters are so wholesome. I loved how quick and captivating this romcom was. I was not expecting it to enjoy it this much but these characters are just adorable.
Fell in love with Mason and Rachel and their love story. Trish is amazing at combining love, loss and redemption. The audible for this was fantastic. I listened to it twice.
This is the second in the Beck Sisters series but it works fine as a stand-alone. There are some spoilers for the first book though, so if you plan on reading that one too you might want to go in order.
Rachel is a single mom, living with her mom and struggling to get anywhere with her career in hospitality. And, then she gets fired....for being sexually harassed by a rich guest.
While searching for jobs she comes across a management role at a boutique hotel on a remote island in Lake Erie. Her application is accepted, so she packs up her daughter and off they go. But when she gets there she discovers she's been pretty misled by the owner, Mason. There is no hotel...yet.
Mason and Rachel each have a lot of baggage they're working through, and I enjoyed each of them as individual characters and seeing their growth. I did really get hung up on the fact that Mason sort of catfished Rachel to get her out there though. That didn't sit well with me, and I found his justification pretty flimsy. The location and community was really lovely though, and I enjoyed that aspect of the book immensely. I just didn't really feel the chemistry between Mason and Rachel I must say.
I really enjoyed Sarah Naughton's performance of the story, and felt like she really added to the characters. The audiobook is a quick listen at just 7 hours and 42 minutes.

The Suite Spot
by Trish Doller
narrated by Sarah Naughton
The Suite Spot is book 2 in the (Beck Sisters series). It does however read well as a stand-alone. I didn’t feel lost and any history needed was nicely summarized. The book started out strong. Our heroine took a horrible situation and turned it into her dream life……just to give it all up after one letter and not finding out her options. She essentially just gave up. She eventually pulled her head out of her ass but it was such fast 180°, it was jarring. It almost ruined the whole story. Thankfully our hero was smart enough to go after her.
The narrator was perfect for the story. Their voice suited the character really well.
DISCLAIMER: I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Really cute, easy read. I loved the story and fell in love immediately with Mason. I did think it was a little short and ended quickly, but still enjoyed the story.
After losing her job, single mother Rachel is given an opportunity to manage a brewery hotel on a remote island on Lake Erie. Moving from Miami, leaving her mother and daughter's father behind, Rachel is hoping for a fresh start. However, when she arrives on the island to see that hotel is far from being guest-ready, and her boss is struggling from his own recent losses, Rachel questions her decision to move. It doesn't take long for her to find true friendship, and even romance, in this small island community.
I really enjoyed this book, especially the authenticity of Rachel. She read like a real person I could know. The writing was superb, and the story was cute and entertaining while touching on some very heavy topics in a sensitive way. For romance and women's fiction lovers, this is a book to be read.
Thank you to the author, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. #TheSuiteSpot #NetGalley
After falling in love with Float Plan last year, I couldn't wait to read a book about Anna's sister and niece and this one was so lovely! It was an easy read to sink into and the setting was FABULOUS and so fun - the only thing that would make this book better would be if it came with a sample of the craft beer we read so much about LOL.
Overall, I really respected Rachel as a character and loved watching her grow as she began to stand up for herself and what she deserves in life and I loved watching her crack Mason's shell and get to know the residents of Kelly's Island and find a new home for herself and her daughter. My only mini complaint was that I wanted it to be a tiny bit longer because I did NOT want to say goodbye to these characters quite yet!!!
Thank you to St Martins Press and MacMillan Audio for the ARC/ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I liked the Float Plan. Although The Suite Spot is part of the Beck Sisters series, you could really read this one before Float Plan. The story tells of a single mom who is struggling to find a place where she can call home. She is living with her mom and her child while working in a posh hotel in Miami. After an unfortunate situation, she is forced to find another place to work leading her to take a job at a brewery resort in Ohio. Upon arriving she learns that the place is not what she expected as well as the owner. With a lot of hard work she begins to make a life for herself. I would say this is a nice story that makes you feel content in the end. The audio version was well done.
