I received this ARC for an honest review. LaQuette is a new to me author. I’m so happy that I gave this book a try! It’s SO GOOD! I love the positive body image the author promoted, and how the characters help build each other up.
This story is about Vanessa and Michael. Vanessa had gotten out of a toxic relationship. After her divorce, she decided to try a divorce support group. It was a bust until she met Janae and Cree. They instantly hit it off and became the best of friends. Michael is the sheriff of Monroe Hills, (where Janae and Cree live) and he went to Vanessa for help because her ex Karl is engaged with Michael’s sister. Vanessa didn’t want to until he showed her the newspaper article about the engagement, and it stated that Karl was a widower and that Cindy has Vanessa’s grandmother’s engagement ring. Because she wanted the ring back, she agreed to help.
I’m not saying more about the story because I want you to read it. LaQuette is such a good writer. She know how to draw you in the story and keep your interest. I’m definitely reading another book by LaQuette!

All I can say is Loved!!! I completed this book in a day, it had me not wanting to put it down, and also it wasn't too long - it was the perfect length.

The story manages to portray the seriousness of Vanessa's abusive relationship with her ex while not dwelling on it too much. Vanessa has a lot to work on emotionally since the divorce from her ex-husband.

Michael is a caregiver first and for most, he always put everyone else first before himself his sister needs help so he is going to do what's needed to do that.

Little did he know that he was going to change his whole life once he encountered Vanessa.

The whole story was cute, serious, funny, and sexy as hell. I loved that Vanessa was well off and could make all her decisions. Although there was a clear bad guy. I am happy he wasn't the main focus of their love story

Awesome

In a word - wow. When Ms. LaQuette says that she writes books featuring multicultural characters with “sexy time” (my phrasing) thrown in - she is not kidding. I loved how Vanessa was struggling after her divorce but also how, with therapy, she was learning to not only cope but also heal the past. I greatly enjoyed her two friends and members of their self-named club and how they supported and backed Vanessa’s choices (and each other!). And the cover - perfect in my mind. I’m not a huge fan of lots of sexy time on the printed page, but if you are a fan of it - watch out. But, even skipping those parts (yes, I skimmed them) this is a pretty solidly written book. I found one part a little too perfect in timing, but for escapism and a quick read, this filled that brief. This book seemed to set up for a sequel, but the main characters’ story finished in a satisfying way.

Firstly, I’d like to say how much I adore this cover! It’s so lovely and I couldn’t stop staring at it while reading the book. The cover artist is so talented.

Secondly—this book! I was nervous because this has been an anticipated read of mine but I had no reason to be. I enjoyed the main characters and their relationships. The author does such a beautiful job curating these endearing and wonderful characters with seemingly real personalities and ambitions. I absolutely busted out laughing so many times! This book was so fun, witty and honest!

Any who, I AM SO HONORED I GOT THE CHANCE TO READ THIS NOVEL. It hooked me immediately and I love how much we focused on all the side characters as wel.. I really enjoyed the storyline and wow my heart melted so many times. Vanessa is my all time favourite type of heroine—bold and strong and sweet and so likeable! And Michael was just a sweetheart.

The only thing that I had a bit of trouble immersing myself with was the insta love on Michael’s part—or I guess you could call it insta lust?

Regardless, I think this one even topped so many contemporary romance novels this month, and I can't wait to tell everyone to buy it when it's in stores or be annoyingly persistent about it when I’m at the library.

I adored all the characters and the atmosphere so much and I hope the author continues putting out more books like this!
