The air was crisp as a morning dew caressed the grass. It was the kind of day that would gradually get warmer as the sun made its way across the sky. That perfect late spring day where all felt hopeful and renewed. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, breathing in the freshness of the open space around her. This was the perfect way to start over… to find where life would lead her. Home.
The Wedding Ranch follows Lorri as she grapples with the crumbling of a marriage and moves out of the city to a small town to start her life over. With her giant mastiff, Mister, of course!
This book was charmingly sweet and the small town setting was heartwarming and the characters were like true friends. I also was in love with Lorri’s dog, Mister… a big loveable dog is always a plus in a book for me. I also appreciated reading from Ryder’s perspective, a rugged country boy dealing with grief of his own.
I saw the twist/conflict coming from the very beginning making things a little anticlimactic for me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this book.
If you’re looking for a clean romance with a small town/country setting then I recommend picking this book up.
Lorri Walker moved to Dalton Mill after her husband left her and their brand new puppy. Now she has a graphic design business, so she doesn't have to think about her ex. Ryder Bolt lost his wife and child seven years ago, but is busy with his niece and nephew and their venue the Wedding Ranch. Lorri and Ryder meet but weren't expecting anything more than that. The burgeoning relationship might be broken apart by revelations from the past, however.
This small town romance is a second chance, a way to start over in life and love. Lorri moves on in a new town with her dog, and really enjoys small town life: larger home, large yard, farmer's market, small shops and getting to know the neighbors. She has her requisite meet cute with Ryder, and I was able to guess from the start what would likely be the issue tearing them apart. Lorri has a box of belongings from her late brother, who had addiction problems and she had distanced herself from. Ryder's wife and child were killed by a drunk driver. It was either that or Lorri's ex getting remarried at The Wedding Ranch, but there's more emotion in losses, especially since it was so hard for Ryder to open up even with family afterwards. Even getting that feeling early on, I still enjoyed seeing the friendship develop. There were ups and downs along the way, as there would be in any friendship, but they're both genuinely nice people who had a rough deal they were recovering from. Our happily ever after comes with a hefty side of forgiveness and acceptance of grief, giving them a second chance not only for romance, but life itself.
Sometimes you just want to read a book that makes you feel good and ends up with a happy ending. Not the angst and drama of relationships but the building of a friendship along the way. This is one of those stories with interesting twists with unexpected pets and friends.
Naigle’s latest is a slow burn, closed door romance. It does take a while to build, but it is definitely worth sticking out….if just for the puppy.
When Lorri's husband turned out to be a cheater extraordinaire, a divorce was probably Lorri's best course of action. Even her huge dog Mister turned out to be a better conversationalist! Lorri moves to a cute little house in a smaller town, and turns her upstairs sunny room into a studio for her design work. When Lorri nearly gets run over by a runaway bovine at the county fair, she is tackled and rescued by Ryder, a widower and local business owner.
Ryder has determined never to marry again after losing the love of his life and his young son. That may all change once he meets Lorri! However, Ryder still needs to get over his disappointment in how the family property was divided up and the development of the property (where Lorri has bought her new little house!)
Throw in the event space owned by Ryder's siblings, a celebrity wedding, and issues with Lorri's ex-spouse, sprinkle in a touch of romance, and the perfect stew results. Don't forget the dog!!
This is a romance with a touch of humor, maybe predictable, but fun. This would make a good Hallmark film too. I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are mine alone.
I would like to thank Net Galley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
This book is a wholesome love story with two people who are linked without knowing it.
Lorri has bought her own house on a piece of land away from her cheating husband, when he bought her a puppy she assumed he wanted to work on the marriage however he was having an affair with the dog trainer.
Ryder a widower who lost his wife and son in a car accident, already hated that his parents sold part of the family lot to build the sub division Lorri's new house is on.
When the two meet they need to overcome their mistrust before they find love.
This book was well written I would call it a summer beach read it goes by quickly and you love the characters.
Nancy Naigle is becoming one of my “favorite” authors for womens fiction. In “The Shell Collectors” she changed my life - because she wrote about a “small quaint southern town in SC”, so I researched it and found one that sounded lovely, just not on the coast - and….we moved to it….all because of this book “The Shell Collectors”. The Wedding Ranch was another lovely story. And such great characters. You will get lot in this story. You can read the description. Just let me say, once you begin reading her stories, you will not want to stop. Thank you
Nancy Naigle for writing your stories.
The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle is a sweet romance. The characters have major, triggering problems that cause great interference in their finding second chances at love. I enjoyed this book very much, but I think it took a long time to build up to the climax and then quickly resolved, almost too quickly to be believable. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
I enjoyed reading The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle. The characters in this story will warm your heart. Happy Reading!

👰🤵♂ I love a small-town romances and this novel was that and more! I really enjoyed getting to know the characters in this heart-warming second chance, friends to lovers’ romance!!
👰🤵♂ Two people with emotional scars trying to leave their past behind and begin again. Neither wants a relationship, but the attraction between them is too strong to deny!
👰🤵♂ I highly recommend this to anyone that is a Hallmark movie fan. I can see this playing out on the TV screen easily. Oh, and did I mention that a 180-pound cuddly mastiff dog named Mister steals the show!!
🎧 The Narrator, Lisa Larson, did a fantastic job. The voice transition between the two MCs was very smooth and the softness of her voice seemed to go along with this story perfectly.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press
The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle follows the characters Lorri and Ryder who were seeking a new friendship that they found in one another. Both the characters had gone through difficult things in their life which they had not moved on from. I loved seeing the way Lorri and Ryder's relationship grew into so much more than what they could have believed. It's a sweet storyline with relatable characters. I highly recommend for those who are in need of a new read!
The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle is a book that enchanted me from the beginning. It is the story of Lorri Walker whose husband is a pretty rotten guy. After their marriage falls apart she doesn't let it get her down, she pulls herself up and begins a new adventure in a nearby town. By chance, she meets Ryder Bolt, a local rancher that lost his wife and son in tragic circumstances a few years back. The two of them aren't looking for love, but they realize they have a connection of friendship. I enjoyed the slow build to the story and how it demonstrated coming back from deep loss and building new relationships.
I gave this a four out of five stars. I really liked this book I liked the relationship, the relationship with their friends and family.
The Wedding Ranch, by Nancy Naigle, is a sweet love story with a few twists that keep it interesting. I am not familiar with the author's past works, but this will not be the last of her books that I read. Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review. This book was a perfect companion for me on this cold rainy day!
This was a sweet story. I loved the plot, but it just felt very surface level and basic to me. It is 100% a Hallmark movie in book form. Which is great, I love Hallmark movies. I just like my books to have a little bit more. I also felt like there was extensive details that weren’t necessary or small talk that wasn’t connected. 3 starts from me.
The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle is a modern day love story with interesting twists. The main characters of Ryder and Lorri were interesting and likable. They both struggled with significant events from the past yet manage to move forward, although certainly not over them.
Lorri and Ryder agreed they were just looking for friendship, yet the obstacles seemed to grow between them and they had to find ways past those obstacles. I like how Lorri was looking for a community to live in and enjoy while Ryder was still mourning the loss of land to that same community. That was just the first in a series of twists that the couple had to work through.
The novel moved right along with secondary characters helping move Lorri and Ryder to new understandings. I enjoyed how Lorri was so open to new adventures! Lorri’s puppy (LOL) Mister was a fun addition to the story line. I think the strength of the story was the growth of the main characters in letting go of the past and engaging in the future. The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle was a good read.
The book has a lovely, heartwarming plot line. The characters are people you can connect with. However, it was very predictable and VERY wordy.
I understand this book is perfect for some people, so I did not post my thoughts on my instagram.
📖My Thoughts📖
Sometimes you just need one of those heartwarming hits you in all the feels kind of book. This was absolutely that book and then some. I completely lost myself in this book, feeling every little heart tug, smile, and tear. This was such a delightful and wholesome story of friends to lovers, both trying to mend their pasts while developing a beautiful relationship. What I enjoyed most about this book was that while there were some very touchy themes with serious tests of faith, they were all managed in such a mature and compelling fashion, written in a very tasteful manner. I loved all the characters, especially big ol’ Mister, the mastiff. If you’re in the mood for a good clean Christian romance with small town Hallmark vibes, grab this one and be prepared to get completely lost in this one. It will warm your soul in so many ways.
Thank you Netgalley, Nancy Naigle and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
This book is very slow to get going, and it also took me a while to connect to the characters. I almost didn’t finish, but I am glad I kept going. Once, I was pulled into the story I really enjoyed it. This is a really sweet story of two unlikely people who get to know each other. Both are hurting from the past and just are not ready for a relationship beyond friendship.
This was my first read by the author
Hope you enjoy it.
And as always Happy Reading!
There are a few things I really appreciated about this book. It's a clean romance, which is always my favorite. It doesn't shy away from complicated or thick, emotional stuff. I got a few chuckles from it, it flew by, and the cast was interesting.
But I don't quite understand why this book is called The Wedding Ranch when the actual wedding ranch had pretty little to do with the story. The beginning was slow; I think the first couple of chapters didn't even need to be included. And the ending felt both dragged out and rushed at the same time somehow.
I will check out other Nancy Naigle books for sure after this one.
