Definitely one of the best marketing books I've ever read since it focuses on actionable ways to help you stand out. I never thought that I'd learn insights like this from politics.

Andrew Yang's Presidential run in 2019 was very interesting, to say the least. He would have been the first Asian-American candidate for President had he won, and he definitely had support throughout his campaign. He lasted through until the eighth primary debate, outlasting some seasoned veterans and highly-touted opponents while routinely getting the lowest amount of speaking time during those debates - so you know that when he spoke it made an impact.

Longshot is the story of Yang's campaign, told by his campaign manager Zach Graumann. It details all of the moves that took Yang from a thorough outsider - 'longer than a longshot' - to one of the final candidates still standing at the start of 2020.

Graumann's writing style is excitable and detailed. The book holds a lot of intrigue and information for political buffs, and it's clear that Graumann is still very much a part of the Yang Gang. While he was never likely to win the nomination, the book shows just how successful his run was and how, to an extent, it did what it was supposed to do and laid the foundations for future political tilts.

Political books can often seem dry and impersonal, however Graumann has taken a different route with Longshot and produced something that is very readable, educational and fun.

This was a book by the campaign manager of Andrew Yang who ran for president in 2020. The book went into some behind the scenes during the Yang campaign, marketing insights on how they gained traction for the candidate, and a short bit into Yang's run for New York governor. I enjoyed the Yang campaign so I was interested in this book, but there was not much more than an overview of Yang's campaign, some behind the scenes looks, and some marketing topics they implemented.
