Come for one duke, stay for them all!
In this historical romance anthology, readers are treated to five new stories featuring familiar characters. In each story, secondary characters from previous works are given their second chance at love.
Each story works well as a standalone. The only author in this collection I had previously read was Kerrigan Byrne, but thanks to this collection of novellas, my TBR just got a whole lot longer.
I received an early copy via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this anthology a lot!!! Some of this stories were written by my favorite authors so I was really excited to read this book.
Some of them were really engaging and others a bit less. My favorite ones were:
1)THE WOLF OF WESTMORE by Amalie Howard. This one was my favorite. I’ve read many books written by her but this story was fabulous! I had to go and read The Beast of Beswick and The Rakehell of Roth before reading anything else. The Duke of Westmore and Lady Jocelyn Capehart are just explosive together! So good and sexy!!
2)LOVED AND FOUND: Christi Caldwell. OMG this story! So much aghast and suffering! I immediately fell in love with Lieutenant Thaddeus Phippen but Edie…she is everything that’s good in this world. They deserved their happy ending more than anyone. That Prologue! It just stole my heart from the beginning.
3) DUKE OF EVERY SIN by Stacy Reid. This story is full of romance, redemption and second chances. I would have love to read this story as a book on it’s one because it has soooo much potential!
4) THE EARL ON THE TRAIN by Kerrigan Byrne. This is one of my favorites writers. I didn’t immediately fell in love with this story but in the following days after I finished it, it just stayed with me. I liked that. I was not a fan of the main characters, but the story is enjoyable and engaging nevertheless.
5) PUT UP YOUR DUKES by Janna MacGregor. This is an author I usually enjoyed, but this story just didn´t work for me. I couldn’t past Martin’s selfishness and Amelia´s tolerance about all the situation. This story is maybe the sexier and more explicit from all of them and that is always a boom for me. I liked them by the end of the story but it took some time for me to arrive there.
I think this anthology is perfect from someone who enjoy great authors and needs light and easy readings. There’s a lot of Duke Energy here and the stories are really really good.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
There’s nothing I love more than a romance novel with a euphemistic title. So when I saw that Big Duke Energy was available on NetGalley, I jumped at the opportunity to read it. Full of spicy, slightly darker romance, this collection of five short romance stories is an enjoyable palette cleanse. If you’re in the mood for historical romance but don’t have the attention span for a delectable slow burn, munch on one of these sultry heroes instead.
It’s difficult to review short stories without massive spoilers, so I’ll leave my review at that! Thank you for the opportunity to read this collection!
THE EARL ON THE TRAIN by Kerrigan Byrne 5 Stars
Sebastian Moncrieff is a villain, a traitor, and a pirate, who has recently inherited an Earldom. As a man who’s committed every sin imaginable, he knows his only chance at redemption is the one woman who ever reached through to his soul of ice. He kidnapped Veronica Latimer once before, and was enchanted by everything about her.
Oh My it was so good I wanted to go back & read The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo again. A wonderful almost second chance novella. I loved every page. The only thing I disliked was it wasn’t long enough
LOVED AND FOUND: Christi Caldwell 4 Stars
Lieutenant Thaddeus Phippen has lived a lifetime away from the only love he ever knew, a powerful duke's daughter. He's now returned from fighting & is attending his brother Martin’s wedding when smoke is seen at the rundown manor the brothers are going to restore. Lady Edith’s coach suffered an accident in the snow whilst travelling to her brother's estate. Cold & injured she & her servants find an almost abandoned manor. Thaddeus & Edie find themselves face -to-face but is the divide between former lovers too great to forge a future together.
A charming novella, which not only was a lovely second chance romance but brought together two siblings from previous books. A quick read, which I thoroughly enjoyed, thank goodness Edie was drunk or their differences may not have been resolved. I wish there had been epilogue to see them happily married after a couple of years.
THE WOLF OF WESTMORE by Amalie Howard 4.5 Stars
Wulfric Bane, the Duke of Westmore knows that blood is thicker than water, that duty is more important than personal desire. Cossetted and coddled Lady Jocelyn Capehart daughter of the Duke of Tyne, has been bred to be the perfect lady. Her father arranges a marriage for her to an aging Marquis so she decides to take matters into her own hands. She goes to a charity auction at a club & wins a night with Wulfric – her family's worst enemy
A steamy novella, electric chemistry between Wulfriv & Jocelyn but their families have feuded for generations. I loved it plus I loved catching up with Bestwick & Roth.
PUT UP YOUR DUKES by Janna MacGregor 4.5 Stars
Martin "Duke" Richmond bows to no one, including any duke who protests what he publishes in his sensational gossip rag, The Midnight Cryer. Estranged from her husband for five years because of the incendiary gossip he spews, Amelia Richmond has made a life for herself smoothing "marital problems" with society's most powerful couples & helping at a foundling home
Another well written, steamy novella. I loved Martin & Amelia who couldn’t keep their hands off each other but also their differences kept them apart. I loved how things were resolved & the lovely epilogue drew it to a very satisfactory conclusion. Another bonus was that it featured Paul one of my favourite characters from the author
DUKE OF EVERY SIN by Stacy Reid 5 Stars
Ethan Benedict, Duke of Bainbridge, has been an object of fear, fascination, and salacious gossip for years. To many, his reputation would make him an unlikely saviour of a baby left on his doorstep. But Ethan saw the child as perhaps a pathway to redemption. What he did not anticipate was for his jaded heart to soften toward the baby’s aunt Lady Verity Staunton who wants to continue to care for Thomas.
I loved both Ethan & Verity & adored how Verity led Ethan into the light & helped him with his grief & guilt. I would have loved for this to be a full length novel as I didn’t want it to end. The chemistry was hot, the characters very well portrayed. I loved the epilogue, which rounded the story off beautifully
Five well written page turners & all feature secondary characters who having been shouting for their stories. I loved all five stories & highly recommend this wonderful box sey
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Big Duke energy is a historical anthology of novellas by four fabulous historical authors. All of the authors but one, I have read before.
5 Stars for The Earl On the Train by Kerrigan Byrne.
Sebastian Moncrieff and Veronica Weatherstoke’s story was something I had been wanting more of since I read The Duke With The Dragon Tatoo. I found this to be utterly delicious. I found myself smiling from the tease, the pleasure, the allure of it all. As always Kerrigan Byrne’s writing was amazing.
4 Stars Love and Found By Christy Caldwell
This is the story of Thaddeus Phippen and Lady Edith Peregrine. Childhood friends and then lovers who were separated by Edith’s parents. This was a second chance Romance and this one did not disappoint as well. Both of these characters have never gotten over one another. A warm and sweet romance.
5 Stars The Wolf of Westmore by Amalie Howard.
Lady Jocelyn Capehart is drawn to Wulfric, Duke of Westmore despite the centuries of long and bitter feuds between their families. Deciding that she does not want to marry the man that the Duke of Tyne has picked for her, she takes matters into her own hands. This is one steamy and delicious story. I swooned hard for The Duke in this one. Loved it!
4 Stars Put up your Dukes by Jana McGregor.
This Is the story of Amelia Richmond and her estranged husband Martin Richmond. He is the publisher of The Midnight Cryer an infamous gossip rag. Amelia feels like her husband is too ruthless and doesn’t agree with most of anything he prints. I enjoyed watching her husband coming around to her point of view. A great ending.
5 Stars Duke of Every Sin by Stacy Reid.
Lady Verity Stanton is horrified when your sister Catherine abandons her baby Thomas on the doorstep of Ethan Benedict, Duke of Bainbridge. She will do anything to get her nephew back. But Ethan is determined to keep the baby who is the baby of his deceased best friend Oscar. When Verity breaks in and tries to steal her nephew back, the Duke catches her and tells her the only way she can be in her nephews life is if she marries him and becomes his Duchess. I loved this marriage of convenience story. This was extremely well written and captured my heart.
This is the best anthology I have ever read. And what a deal to get to read these stories at this price. If you are a fan of Historical Romance this is for you. This is my complimentary review for an early copy from Netgalley and the publisher.
Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Five novellas featuring the secondary characters from these authors Historical-Romance series. They were all entertaining, even if I felt slightly at sea being only familiar with the Kerrigan Byrne work.
THE EARL ON THE TRAIN by Kerrigan Byrne: 5-Stars
TOO SHORT!!! I have been waiting for Sebastian's story for a long time and it was way too short! Sebastian Moncrieff is The Erstwhile Earl of Crosthwaite who neglected to return from the fighting in India. It seems that he was more suited for pirating than Parliament. After kidnapping the Rook's wife, I'm surprised he's even alive. But not only is he alive he has escaped the hangman's noose and is now on a mission to kill the men responsible for the Shanghai Connection, a nasty group of human traffickers.
Sebastian Moncrieff is on a train and ready to kill a man when comes face to face with Veronica Weatherstoke, the one woman he knows he wronged nearly a year ago. Sebastian is not a man given to regrets but he just can't deny that he feels things for her he has never felt for any other woman. His only wish is to give her pleasure, but she tells him she wants nothing to do with him, but her body is telling him something quite different.
LOVED AND FOUND by Christi Caldwell: 3-Stars
I just couldn't get into this one. The heroine sacrificed herself for the hero's family. That was really sad, but the angst she beats him over the head with was just not good.
Thaddeus Phippen grew up very poor in East London. As a child he developed a friendship with a Duke's daughter that grew into young love until Thaddeus went into the military and Edie is forced into a loveless marriage. They come face to face years later after Edie's husband dies and Thaddeus has become a well to do investor. But old hurts stand in their way.
THE WOLF OF WESTMORE by Amalie Howard: 4-Stars
Very sexy and borderline erotic. Ton virgin, Lady Jocelyn Capehart, is set to marry an old fart picked by her father to expand his holdings. She rebels and has a night of unforgettable passion with Lord Wulfric Bane, the Duke of Westmore, her family's sworn enemy. You can guess the rest, but it was very entertaining.
PUT UP YOUR DUKES by Janna MacGregor: 3-Stars
Not a very entertaining story. Just didn't keep my interest and I ended up not really caring how it ended. It was also very repetitive and that is always a turn off for me.
Amelia married Martin Richmond and they had a wildly sexual marriage for one month, then Martin published an article that hurt Amelia's best friend and she left him. For five years they have had an arrangement where they meet each Wednesday and have sex. Amelia feels that Martin's gossip rag, "The Midnight Cryer" is his mistress and that leaves little room for her. When a dispute with a powerful Lord causes a problem for Martin, he needs Amelia and is finally ready to put her first in his life.
DUKE OF EVERY SIN by Stacy Reid: 4-Stars
I love this classic Historical-Romance tale of a marriage of convenience that turns out to be anything but. Verity was a spunky heroine who was determined to keep her cobbled family together and make the broody Duke love them all.
When Verity Stanton sees her sister abandon her child on the doorstep of a man known as the Duke of Every Sin. She takes a bold step to confront Ethan Benedict, Duke of Bainbridge. Ethan has been consumed with guilt and grief for the past two over the death of his best friend shortly followed by the death of his father. Verity challenges him and awakens in him feelings he has never felt before.
I wished I enjoyed this collection a bit more but I really wanted to read The Earl on the Train mainly. I have read books by each author and some I had previously loved and some not as much. I have very mixed thoughts about this anthology.
THE EARL ON THE TRAIN - 5 stars
Everything I have been waiting for and hoped for. I love Veronica and her growth and Sebastian’s as well. I love how they worked together in this book. I have read the Victorian Rebel series so I am familiar with the characters and backstories which I think does help. I would have enjoyed a dozen epilogues or so but still a satisfying read.
LOVE AND FOUND - 3 stars
Lots of miscommunication and tedious overall. I was enjoying the story until the two characters met up again. Very melodramatic and I didn’t have much sympathy for them.
THE WOLF OF WESTMORE - 3 stars
I felt bad for Jocelyn since her family sucks but overall seemed like one big manipulation. Characters using each other just doesn’t grab my interest.
PUT UP YOUR DUKES - 2 stars
Their relationship is all about the physical which isn’t always a bad thing but there was way too many issues with lack of trust and communication. I liked Amelia but her marriage to Martin just lacked communication so I couldn’t get invested or believe in their love.
DUKE OF EVERY SIN - 4.5 stars
Really enjoyed this book. I loved Verity and her love for little Thomas and Artie. Ethan is rough around the edges but with Verity he is able to move past his grief and guilt and find happiness. They are really great together. I love that the conflict isn’t unnecessarily extended. They have an open conversation and conflict is wrapped up so they can enjoy their lives together.

This anthology from five bada$$ lady writers gives readers the HEA’s of much loved side characters from their other series. I LOVE Kerrigan Byrne, Amalie Howard and Stacy Reid so their stories were my favorites!
The Earl On The Train by Kerrigan Byrne is Veronica Weatherstroke and Sebastian Moncrieff’s story who we met in the Victorian Rebels series. Kerrigan Bryne gave me everything I wanted for Veronica after the hell she’d been through in the previous books including desk sex, bed sex, and an Alpha pirate in this short but immensely satisfying addition to the VR family!
Loved and Found is the first story I have read by Christi Caldwell but it won’t be the last. It had tropes that I love- childhood friends to lover, different classes forced apart by her parents and snowed in. Thaddeus and Edie are lovely characters, both doing what they thought was the right thing for the other one, the pining, the snowball fight, it’s all lovely.
The Wolf of Westmore by Amalie Howard. A man auction in an underground sex club! Spanking! She’s tied up! His name is Wolf! Beast! Roth! A kidnapping! Very Romeo and Juliet, Capulets v. Montagues vibes! Is that enough for you to read this one? Lady Jocelyn bids on Wulfric to lose her v-card to in the hopes that it will stop her arranged marriage to an old horrible man. Their one night becomes a scandal becomes a marriage becomes we really love each other. Sigh it is perfection.
Put Up Your Dukes by Janna MacGregor was surprisingly steamy and a little heartbreaking. Amelia left her husband after one month of marriage because Martin printed a story in his gossip pamphlet that she felt was morally wrong. Now they meet up once a week to burn up the sheets, the desk, the wall but that’s all. The pining and grovel here is top notch.
Duke of Every Sin by Stacy Reid had everything I love- a grumpy, damaged, “I blame myself” Duke, marriage of convenience and adorable side characters in the found family Verity created. Verity’s nephew is left on the doorstep of Ethan’s manor but Verity wants him back. The only way to keep the child is to marry Ethan of course. Ethan had been hiding with crippling guilt and remorse after a tragedy but Verity’s love, faith in him and forgiveness brings him back. This one is the perfect mix of pain, suffering, sunshine and hope!
Thank you NetGalley and Oliver Heber Books for an E-ARC. All opinions are my own.
The Earl on the Train by Kerrigan Byrne
I have been waiting for so long for Sebastian’s story! I have to admit I had forgotten that Veronica was a past character in Kerrigan’s previous books but tbh in the story it doesn’t really matter. The attraction is hot as usual, and this was an enjoyable read. I appreciate that it was a novella because that made the forgiving Seb for his past transgressions whiz by.
Loved and Found by Christi Caldwell
This was the story that surprisingly connected most with me emotionally. It is a second chance romance with our characters having been separated when young. There is talk/vague-ish references to possibly DV but that wasn’t expanded on. I just found these Thaddeus and Edie’s story to be touching and I am glad they got their HEA.
The Wolf of Westmore by Amalie Howard
I really enjoyed Wolf and Jocelyn and my one complaint was I feel the story could have been fleshed out more in a proper book. I wanted moar! LOL.
Put Up Your Dukes by Janna MacGregor
This was the story I enjoyed the least. Martin the ML was not the best character. Infact I don’t believe he deserves Amelia. He was too prideful and whew, didn’t come to his senses till almost the end? She deserves better completely.
Duke of Every Sin by Stacy Reid
Enjoyable story by Stacy Reid. I also wanted more story like I did for the Amelia Howard’s story. Verity and Ethan’s story felt like the most “fairy-tale” amongst all the novellas in the collection too.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for the ARC
I loved THE EARL ON THE TRAIN and i am huge fan of the author Kerrigan Bryne . I lovedTHE WOLF OF WESTMORE and DUKE OF EVERY SIN also and these were the first things i have read from these authors and made me curious of their series which is what in my opinion one of task of an anthology is .
Wasn't a fan of LOVED AND FOUND or PUT UP YOUR DUKES , to be honest not sure why this story was even part of this book.
There are no words to describe this amazing book: it may well be the first time that I loved each and every novella of a collection! Two of the authors were new to me and they were a very pleasant discovery, while the others are among my favorite ones and I knew I could count on them and their incredible talent.
The premise of these novella was to give secondary characters of previous books their well-deserved HEA and the authors succeeded on all counts! So these novellas are perfect as stand-alones, but they entice the reader to read the books linked to them.
Kerrigan Byrne brought us into the mind of the “villain” of a previous book and showed us his motivations and the wonderful man he was inside. Her novella is hot, but also full of emotion and I loved to see two tormented characters find each other and fall desperately in love. Byrne’s writing amazes me every time!
Christi Caldwell’s novella is heart-rending, sweet (but with the right dose of steam) and simply beautiful. I read the book it is linked to and I found that this was the perfect ending for a character that intrigued me quite a lot. Caldwell is one of my favorite author ever!
Amalie Howard pens a very, very hot novella with my favorite kink (!), but the love scenes are always emotional and heart-stirring. I didn’t know Howard’s books, but I can know understand why she’s so widely recommended! I loved her character building and the kind of steam she adds to her writing. I so look forward to reading other books from her!
Janna MacGregor’s novella is steamy and interesting as well. I enjoyed the story of the gossip journalist very, very much, a story that I think can be summarized with a famous saying: “As they sow so let them reap” (Just imagine a sarcastic smile on my part here!). Wonderful, fitting HEA for him and his wife!
Stacy Reid is rapidly climbing to the top ten of my favorite authors and this endearing novella is all I could have hoped for from her. She’s a brilliant writer and her books are poignant, witty and steamy and this wonderful novella is no exception!
Definitely a five star read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is such a strong collection of novels by some prolific and wonderful authors of the historical romance genre. I found each of these novellas to be embodied with fantastic emotions, strong characters and beautiful romances. These five novels have the strength of strong and efficient authors at there center and each story features characters that will be familiar to readers who have read from certain series from each author. While these novellas are linked to series by these authors they can definitely be read as standalones and they stand very well on their own.
I was absolutely delighted with each and every one of these novels. They were all very strong in their character development and the depth of emotion that each author is able to convey in these stories is masterful. Watching these couples find their happily ever afters was extremely gratifying. They are all also very well paced and I never for one moment did not believe in the love story that was unfolding before me. These novellas are also delightfully steamy and these authors use this to their advantage by deepening the relationships between their heroes and heroines through the trust and emotions that are involved in physical exploration.
I so very highly recommend this novel and the novellas within. I love each and every one of these authors and this collection really shows of their talents in a delightful and beautiful way. If you have never read from one of these authors this is a fantastic introduction to their work.
This was a great collection of stories! I would give each individual story a 5. I think my favorite was “Put Up Your Dukes” by Jana McGregor, the characters were great and the story a bit different in a good way. 5 stars.
I received an ARC of "Big Duke Energy" from Netgalley and the fabulous Janna MacGregor and voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Each story is unique, beautiful and utterly romantic.
Kerrigan Byrne's, "The Earl on The Train" is the story of Sebastián Moncrieff, Earl of Crosthwaite and Veronica Weatherstoke. Their connection is from years past, their present is saving the Weller women and punishing Mr.Weller for his past and present crimes.
Christi Caldwell's "Loved and Found" revolves around the lives of Thaddeus Phippen, a builder, and a Duke's daughter, Edith Rose, later known as Lady Edith Peregrine, the Marchioness of Bourchier. When younger, they loved each other and had dreamed of building a life together. Edith's parents manipulations caused them to drift apart and move on with their lives. When they meet again accidentally, they don't believe their luck in getting the opportunity to clear the air and once again, find love.
Amalie Howard's, "The Wolf of Westmore" is the story of Wulfric Bane, the Duke of Westmore and Lady Jocelyn Capehart, the daughter of his enemy, the Duke of Tyne. Jocelyn is being forced to wed a lecher of an old man, and before that, she wants one night all to herself for herself. She dons a disguise and spends one of the most memorable nights of her life with Wulfric. As the story progresses, they pretend to be engaged, which turns into a marriage of convenience which becomes a beautiful sensual love marriage.
Janna MacGregor wrote "Put Up Your Dukes". Amelia Richmond, has been estranged from her husband, Martin Richmond, the editor and owner of the infamous gossip sheet, "The Midnight Cryer", though they still meet once a week when passions ignite and the reason for their separation ignored. Janna has written a beautiful story of how we sometimes learn what is most important to us when it may be taken away. Scandal is great, as long as it is about others, but when it hits close to home, Martin realizes the errors of his way.
In Stacy Reid's "Duke of Every Sin," Lady Verity Stanton is an Earl's disgraced daughter who had the courage to leave home to be with her unwed pregnant older sister to help and support her. Ethan Benedict, Duke of Bainbridge, has a baby left on his doorstep and immediately realizes the baby is the child of his deceased friend. When Verity sees her nephew being left at the Duke's front door, she immediately knows she has to sace him. However, on meeting the Duke, and his sudden offer of marriage to her, she thinks this disgraced devilish duke may not be as he portrays himself im society. The marriage of convenience for the sake of this baby turns into something Ethan never expected.
There is something so comforting about a romance anthology. It’s like the perfect amount of reading for one sitting with a good cup of tea. A really good anthology leaves you wanting more and I think all of the stories in Big Duke Energy did that. I would’ve gladly read a full novel for each of these characters but at the same time I’m happy with each of the novellas as they were. Another thing I love about an anthology is they are so easy to dive into for a cozy reread (if you know, you know). Obviously some people are going to have different opinions about novels/novellas they read but that’s part of the beauty of a anthology. We can all have our favorites!
**Stacy Reid’s story was my favorite! I wish there had been a full length novel for this one!
Thank you #Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review
This anthology brings together five leading historical romance authors for a collection of high-heat novellas. The writing is top-notch, and the stories are entertaining. If you're a fan of these authors, you may see some familiar characters get their HEA. I especially enjoyed "Loved and Found" by Christi Caldwell and "Put Up Your Dukes" by Janna MacGregor. If you love hot historical romance, this collection is for you.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a collection of 5 stories by 5 authors. Most of these authors I have already read stories by them and have enjoyed them, so this was a little treat to have them have stories in one book. You will have Kerrigan Byrne telling the story of an ex-pirate when he runs into a woman, he kidnapped years ago, on a train and how they meet each other and cannot fight the chemistry between them. Then you have Christ Caldwell’s story of a couple who were in love when they were younger, and then they lost each other. Now that they found each other again, can they make it work. The story by Amalie Howard The Wolf of Westmore was chemistry filled with two families who were enemies except Lady Jocelyn didn’t not feel that way about the Duke of Westmore. Janna MacGregor’s story of Put up your Dukes is about a married couple who separated over the husband’s job. Duke of Every Sin by Stacy Reid is about a couple is bought together by a baby. The chemistry they have is amazing. I also have to say it is nice to have books like this because when I am short on time but want to read, I can finish one of these stories in one sitting and do not feel I am neglecting my choirs. Lol.
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.
I love anthologies and when I saw that some of my favorite historical romance authors were in this title, this was an automatic “want to read” from me. After reading this, I will also say that a couple of authors I hadn’t previously read are now authors who I will definitely be reading more by. ❤️
All the stories were a great length, enough to get you invested and enough to want to read more. While I do adore anthologies, I will certainly admit that they can be hit or miss, this contained all hits for me and I enjoyed each and every story.
Big Duke Energy is book 1, in a new series - the Seasons of Sin Anthology Collection, and after such a fun intro I’m already looking forward to reading book 2!
I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am usually not a fan of anthologies or second chance romances.
But I loved this one.
Every story was a hit for me.
These short novels were so much fun and quite steamy.
Bringing all of these writers together in a anthology was great.
Big Duke Energy is a historical romance anthology featuring stories from Kerrigan Byrne, Amalie Howard, Christi Caldwell, Stacy Reid and Janna MacGregor. Heading into this one I felt like I knew what to expect, having read (and loved) Byrne, Howard and Caldwell late in 2021 but was really interested in what Reid and MacGregor’s stories would bring to the table.
BDE is a great amount of fun and offers a lot to enjoy, and will keep even a passive HR fan engaged. Ready to get into it? Ok, let’s begin.
The Earl On The Train by Kerrigan Byrne 5⭐️
The two main characters in this steamy and fast paced novella are first introduced in Bryne’s Duke with the Dragon Tattoo, so jumping back in with Sebastian and Veronica in a train car in the middle of the night was an immediate delight. In classic KB fashion both the leads have some legit backstory trauma, and find shelter in each other’s hearts, minds and bodies.
Y’all this was hot as hell, and sex in the compartment full of luggage gave me Titanic Car vibes in the best way.
Loved and Found by Christi Caldwell 5⭐️
Oh my heart this one was emotional. This is a second chance romance between two childhood friends, turned lovers and then estranged heartbroken acquaintances. The love between Edie and Thad was SO visceral and real and my goodness the pining! This is higher-angst, with decent steam and has some sickbed care that might wrench your heart right out of your chest.
Thad finally understands what drove them apart all those years ago and it comes in like a wrecking ball. This one really worked for me and had me in my feelings from beginning to end.
The Wolf of Westmore by Amalie Howard 5⭐️
Having just read (and loved) the Beast of Beswick last week, I was excited to jump back into the same world Amalie so expertly crafted. This was highly enjoyable and sees the virginal daughter, pay to be ruined by Wulfric Bane at the Silver Scythe. There’s some light allusions to little red riding hood, but y’all this is a BDSM historical romance that features some hot AF sex club vibes that I was really living for.
What’s more is the connection these two find both inside and outside the bedroom. The connection is believable and the cameo’s from Thane and Roth (from fans of Amalie’s other books) will have you smiling, among your happy sighs.
Put Up Your Dukes by Janna MacGregor 4⭐️
I wasn’t sure I was ever going to come around on the main character (Martin) in this one. PUYD is about an estranged married couple who both still love each other but can’t live with what one does for a living (runs a gossip rag). At first, I really did feel like Martin was incapable of redemption, but as the story went on I could see the slow and steady decline in his steadfastness in keeping his dirt rag going. When Martin finally gets a taste of his own medicine, the grand realization finally arrives: what he does hurts people, and now its hurt who he cares the most for, his wife.
All is not lost though. A good grovel and grand gesture absolutely turned this one around.
Duke of Every Sin by Stacey Reid 4⭐️
This was my first ever foray into Stacey Reid and I really enjoyed it. It gave me similar vibes to Amalie Howard, and our man Ethan, Duke of Bainbridge has just come into possession of his late friends by-blow. Verity, a disgraced lady shunned by the ton is committed to not letting her beloved (and mostly brand new) nephew Thomas end up with this devilish duke. Storming into his home and life Verity is going to take Thomas away from this place to ensure Thomas is loved and cared for in a way only she knows how.
The duke, seeing an opportunity offers for her which is a win for both. He gets a wife and she has unlimited access to her nephew. There is some interesting plot swerves and a late 3rd act tension that, to me felt a little weird but over all this was really fun and decently steamy.
Okay pals that’s it, that’s all! Overall rating is 4.5/5 ⭐️. Super fun, steamy, sinful stories that will make you happily sigh, swoon and enjoy the heck out of each of these Dukes with BDE.
Grab this anthology wherever you get your books March 29th 2022.
