This is a cute school manga! I like the characters and the setting, though I'm very curious if it will ever have a stronger plotline, or if it is just going to be a compilation of short slice of life type excerpts. Pretty much the lack of a plot besides interactions between the two main characters is the only reason I knocked it down a star, but I'm hoping that's something that changes later in the series. Still, an adorable start. I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes!
The first thing I’m going to say is that slice of life can be quite hit or miss for me, and unfortunately this one missed.
The art style was alright, I wasn’t particularly fond of it, but it was pleasant enough. I DID like the way Kubo kept trying to push him out of his comfort zone and it was funny in places but for the most part I wasn’t that invested in this and found my attention wandering a bit.
I found this title enjoyable, however it wasn't anything new. I liked the interactions between our two main characters, and there seems to be hints that their relationship will be developing as the story progresses. Hopefully the scenarios don't get too repetitive, and that we can see some new characters introduced in future volumes!
Shiraishi is a total mob character, barely noticeable to anyone else... except his classmate, Kubo. Unlike him, Kubo is pretty and popular yet she still takes the time out of her day to check on Shiraishi. As the manga continues, a friendship blooms between the two and a romance begins to bud.
I found this quite cute! This is a romance written for the young male demographic, I think a good comparison point is My Dress-Up Darling which has a similar premise of a popular girl noticing a boy who slips into the background or Teasing Master Takagi-san which has more of that teasing dynamic. Kubo is a cute lead who's certain she wants to get to know Shiraishi more but isn't fully certain of her feelings quite yet. Meanwhile, Shiraishi seems to be naïve to her feelings altogether but is receptive to her. I like that we get to see more of their lives at home as well with introductions to both their siblings in this volume. It makes for a sweet, easy slice-of-life read.
I'm not normally a fan of the "teasing" genre, but this title had some good things going for it! Its strongest point is that Kubo seems to legitimately be trying to get her classmates notice her mostly invisible friend. (There is also the added bonus for her spending time with him while doing so!) I found most of this title to be more sweet than sour, so if this is your thing, give it a shot!
High schooler Junta Shiraishi is background character A at his school. So much so, that he often gets marked absent or even sat on by other students. Shiraishi blends into the background so well that his classmates aren't even sure he's there. Except for class beauty, Kubo, who always seems to notice and tease him. Kubo won't let Shiraishi just blend into the background as she persuades him to act like the leading character and become visible. Not quite a romance, but definitely on it's way to becoming one. A sweet high school comedy where the main character needs a leading lady to help him shine.
This manga was a very fluffy, cute, silly read about a kid named Junta Shiraishi who is practically invisible to others around him due to him being extremely unnoticeable. His classmate Nagisa Kubo never fails to notice him, however, and seems to take a keen interest in him. There isn't much to this story, but if you are looking for something light and cute then I'd recommend it.
Shiraishi is a background character in his own life. He is so invisible that he never gets called on in class, and people actually sit on him because they don’t realize he’s even there. Only Kubo, a girl in his class notices him. This was cute. I can see the appeal, especially for a young male reader. I saw someone review this as a shojo manga, but it’s not. It’s a seinen title, written for a male audience, which is fairly obvious given the premise.
This is a pretty standard slice of life type manga. Shiraishi has no presence, taken to extremes as nearly everyone even his family forgets about him. Everyone but Kubo, a popular social butterfly he sits next to in class. The story revolves around the two as they interact, mostly through Kubo trying varying tactics to make Shiraishi visible to those around him often to comedic effect. There's not much of an overarching plot beyond this, though it's clear Kubo has a crush and that will come into play later. The art kind of reminds me of Komi Can't Communicate, mostly in how different the two main leads are visually. Anyone looking for something new won't find it here, but it's worth a try if you like slice of life shoujo series. I hope going forward there's a larger cast, it being just the two was a little boring after the first few chapters.
